00:10As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
00:13So we're talking today with ISTEK and IIU,
00:20with Islamic intellectual tradition and duraf,
00:25which is not limited to the accumulation of information,
00:33but about how knowledge can be responsibly applied
00:46for what? For the betterment of society and humanity.
00:52This was exemplified by great scholars of old.

01:08and I realized that the pension and the crave for new technology
01:15and science, which is imminent, critical,
01:18and I fully understand and appreciate that.
01:22I want our AI faculty and digitalization, new technology.

01:29And now, as you know, Malaysia is a very important destination
01:35for investments in terms of new technology,
01:40in terms of semiconductor and AI data centers.
01:43That's probably one of the few Muslim countries that are able to attract so much.
01:48But we still have to deal with the issue of legacy to wrath and tradition.
01:57Otherwise, we will lose our identity
02:00and devoid of morality and ethics.
02:06But, again, this is not necessarily new,
02:09because this was exemplified in the great scholars
02:15of old who appreciated how questions of philosophy,
02:20mathematics, and medicine
02:22were never to be treated as distinct from questions of purpose.
02:27Now, to give responsibility,
02:31I can just share this with people like Zia and Osman and the rest,
02:37to think and deliberate.
02:40We should, in the governments, institutions,
02:44must give the necessary support.
02:47You see, the problems of Muslim societies,
02:49the narrative out there
02:51is completely sometimes cut off
02:55from the fundamental challenge of our community.

03:06new technology and tradition,
03:09the issue of societal concerns,
03:14problems of inequity,
03:18that we have to deal with the next week,

03:32Resources are limited.

04:41to be able to
04:42develop more seriously
04:43these issues.
04:45So, the task
04:47before us
04:48is not simply
04:50to build a more,
04:52invent faster,
04:53or compete harder.
04:56It's to decide
04:58what kind
05:00of progress
05:01is worth
05:02pursuing
05:03and having
05:05the courage
05:05to shape
05:06our institutions,
05:07including investments
05:09and ambitions
05:10around that choice.

05:14the challenge.
05:15For Malaysia,
05:17technological
05:17advancement
05:18must never
05:20be
05:20or become
05:21detached
05:22from the
05:23society
05:24it is meant
05:25to serve.
05:26we should pursue
05:27capability
05:29with confidence
05:30but never
05:31at the expense
05:32of judgment,
05:33dignity,
05:34or a clear sense
05:36of who
05:38we are
05:39becoming
05:40in the process.
