00:41The seismic results on the 7th of May changed Wales forever.
00:48But what do we mean by that?
00:51Yes, we now have for the first time a Welsh Government led by a political party
01:00that unequivocly believes that it is our unalienable right as a nation to decide on our own future.
01:16And yes, we have for the very first time a First Minister for Wales
01:24who believes that it is only as an international, interdependent, independent state
01:33that we will be able to fulfil our potential as a nation.
01:42But you know there's more to it than that.
01:45Everybody here knows how much work we have to do.
01:50Everybody here knows how much persuading we have to do.
01:55But the key thing to me and what comes out of this election is that it proves
02:00that we are building trust.
02:03I have said many, many times that it is the people of Wales who will decide on our future.
02:10Not me, not any single one of you, but all of us together as a nation.
02:17And what Maine showed was that whatever the questions, the genuine questions people have,
02:26whatever the doubts about the ultimate destination of the journey that we are on,
02:33people were in greater numbers than ever before willing to believe that those of us who do have that ambition,
02:44you and me and many thousands like us have the best interests of Wales at heart.
02:52They chose that leadership.
02:55And that's the kind of trust I always seek to build.
