00:01More than half a day on from that devastating defeat, there is still a sense of sadness hanging over the
00:07Dockers' spiritual home here in Fremantle.
00:10The clean-up is almost done on the Cappuccino Strip here, one of many locations that tens of thousands of
00:16fans packed out to watch the Dockers in what they hoped would be a history-making match.
00:22The crowd was electric and it only got bigger as the end of the game neared, but those final four
00:28minutes were absolutely heartbreaking for Dockers' faithful at the G and particularly here in Fremantle.
00:35Plenty of tears shed and still plenty of upset this morning.
00:39We've been speaking to supporters who say that the result really was nothing short of devastating.
00:45They are so sad to have come so close to that first Premiership Cup for the team and to have
00:52fallen agonisingly short.
00:54But there is still a real sense of pride that the club could even get that far and put up
00:59such a strong fight in the face of a very intimidating Brisbane Lions.
01:04Here's what some of those supporters had to say earlier.
01:06Well, we're all very sad of course, but very proud.
01:09I mean they had 14 straight wins, minor Premiers and brought the communities together.
01:14It was so tight, it was so beautiful yesterday to experience that.
01:18Pretty sad.
01:19I feel like everyone was so excited.
01:21Everyone was in purple.
01:23And then all my friends, they are such big fans.
01:26And then after the game finished there was just silence for like 30 seconds, so pretty sad.
01:33Devastated, having been there right from the beginning since the start.
01:37But incredibly proud.
01:40The other word to sum up the mood here in Fremantle really is hope though.
01:44Dockers fans are a naturally hopeful bunch at the best of times.
01:48But yesterday's performance have given fans a lot of optimism that the club could be on the cusp of a
01:54period of real success.
01:56And that maybe, just maybe, this time next year they could be packing out the cappuccino strip.

02:06To be celebrating rather than commiserating.
