00:00Moving on to South Africa, the police reported the deaths of at least 27 people in two separate
00:05mass shootings over the weekend, as the country continues to grapple with an increasing number
00:09of violent crimes.
00:11The first attack happened in Johannesburg on Saturday.
00:15Eight gunmen armed with assault rifles entered a bar at around 7.30 pm and opened fire on
00:20patrons, killing 17 people and wounding 15.
00:23The attackers also set fire to two vehicles before fleeing the scene.
00:27Hours later, another shooting took place at an entertainment venue in Township outside
00:32Cape Town, where 10 people were killed and 11 wounded.
00:36Five of the victims died at the scene, while the others succumbed to their injuries on the
00:40way to hospital.
00:41Police said the motives remained unknown and that no arrests have been made related to
00:45either attack.
00:46South Africa, that has a population of around 62 million people, records about 60 murders
00:51a day, placing it among the nations with the world's highest murder rates.
01:02There were some shootings there and there between, as they've said, between Samazama gangs.
01:13So now that it involves community members, and as a result of that, over 17 people and even
01:23more have died.
01:25This has never happened here.
01:26So I feel very sad and traumatized.
01:34We heard the shooting and now I'm left traumatized, especially since I have health issues of the
01:40heart.
01:41I wanted to go out the house to go look for my daughter who was outside.
01:45Luckily I saw her jumping the fence returning from her partner's house.
01:49I'd like to say that the government should now intervene here in our area and deploy the
01:53military for three months.
01:55Maybe things can better.
01:57Because now these people are killing our children?
01:59That will come.
02:00Let us do that one more time.
02:01and look forward to it.
02:01Now that you're going
