In heavy rain, floodwater runs along a street in Varna, Bulgaria, pushing debris and moving objects with it. Several signs appear to shift and drift as the current passes, and one restaurant sign breaks free and floats out into the roadway. It glides along the water’s surface, turning slowly as it’s carried down the street.
The scene lands with a quiet kind of irony, as something meant to stay put becomes the most mobile thing in view. It’s a small, odd moment inside a larger downpour, captured as the flood briefly takes control of the streetscape.
