00:00It doesn't work that way. Only the speaker approves what we're all allowed to vote on.
00:06So they had a massive hold on the resolution to release sepsium files.
00:13Why was that?
00:14Because Donald Trump. 100%. We knew that. If you were in the GOP conference, you knew it was coming directly
00:23from the top.
00:24He had, and I knew it even more so because I knew everybody in the White House.
00:30And he had a 100% lock on this is not going to be released.
00:35I mean, he had a tight leash on Pam Bondi. This is not going to be released.
00:40He had a tight leash on Speaker Johnson, Leader Thune. These are not going to be released. Shut it down.
00:46And so if you remember leading into this, it was this resolution to release the sepsium files.
00:53Well, because that was such a major fight, also at the time, the Epstein victims, these women, were coming to
01:04Washington and coming and talking to us.
01:08And I was like, oh my gosh, I really want to talk to these women.
01:13And so I did. I started talking to them.
01:16And thankfully, they came to my office and I got to talk to them.
01:20And if you've ever seen anyone tell a story, and these women would tell their story, and they, it was
01:29physical.
01:30It wasn't just words they were speaking.
01:33Their bodies would shake.
01:35They would have tears.
01:36They would sob.
01:38And this isn't just in front of cameras.
01:40This would be in private meetings and closed doors.
01:43And that just cut me to the core.
01:46And these women were telling the truth.
01:49And so for me, it was like the easiest thing, the easiest thing in the world to go down there
01:55and sign my name on this discharge petition,
01:58which was required for us to take the power away from Speaker Johnson and get the resolution to the floor
02:06for a vote.
02:07Because we needed 218 signatures to get the resolution to the floor for a vote.
02:14And I was like, my gosh, that's the easiest signature I can sign.
02:19It's a layup.
02:20Right.
02:20But then you got yelled at by Trump.
02:23Oh.
02:23I knew it was coming, though.
02:25I knew it was coming.
02:26But I didn't care.
02:27I was like, who cares?
02:29I don't care.
02:30I'd already gotten yelled at by him multiple times.
02:33I was already frustrated.
02:36I was like, for me, I think I was strapped in on the front row of a roller coaster.
02:42You know on a roller coaster when you're going up the big hill and it's slowly pulling you up the
02:47hill and you know what's about to happen?
02:49I was strapped in on the front row.
02:51I was like, this whole thing is going sideways.
02:54He's already bombed Iran.
02:55He's probably going to do it again.
02:57He's already fighting.
02:59He's boosting big tech.
03:01People don't want data centers.
03:02He apparently really is behind a central bank digital currency and he's all about selling his coins to people, which
03:10that's it.
03:12My goodness.
03:13He said to you.
03:13Sorry, I get off track on that one.
03:15No, no, it's okay.
03:16There's a lot of money been made.
03:17As you implored him to release the files and said, maybe you should go have.
03:23Well, what happened was I signed my name on the resolution and a pressure cooker started.
03:29By the way, at that time, and I'm dear friends with Thomas Massey, they were already challenging him in his
03:35primary.
03:35I was watching tens of millions of dollars go up on television pounding him in his district, which was ridiculous.
03:45And I was getting phone calls from people on his staff.
03:48I was getting pressure, Mike Johnson, everybody coming to me about, you know, you need to take your name off
03:53this resolution.
03:54And I was adamant.
03:56Absolutely not.
03:57They were also pressuring Lauren Boebert.
03:59They were pressuring Nancy Mace.
04:02And, but I was the one, I was like the hardest one to move.
04:07And so.
04:09You were the one that President Trump said, my friends will get hurt.
04:13I got a phone call from the president and I was in my office in the Rayburn building.
04:19And he called me from the White House and I'll never forget it.
04:24And I knew, I picked up my phone and I was like, oh boy, he's calling.
04:28This is not going to be good.
04:30Not going to be good.
04:32And I was like, hello, Mr. President.
04:36And that phone call was not good.
04:38And he proceeded to tell me, you know, he wanted me to take my name off the resolution that scene
04:44files cannot be released.
04:46And I had told him, I said, you know, you really need to have these women in.
04:50You really need to have them in the Oval Office because I said, Mr. President, you have everybody in the
04:56Oval Office.
04:57You have sports teams.
04:59You have all types of world leaders.
05:01And at that point, I mean, this whole presidency has been a revolving door of every foreign leader all over
05:07the world.
05:07We've even had terrorists in the Oval Office.
05:10And I said, you need to have these women in there.
05:14And he refused.
05:15He refused.
05:16I said, and this is what blew me away, Mr. President, they voted for you.
05:21Quite a few of them I talked to voted for you.
05:25You should have them in there.
05:27Like, I could not believe that.
05:28And he wouldn't.
05:30And he told me, he said, Marjorie, people you know will get hurt.
05:37My friends, people you know at Mar-a-Lago.
05:42And he's totally against releasing the Epstein files.
