00:00I was in Dubai. I was sitting in an apartment on the 10th floor looking out on the balcony
00:05and there was a bird who was building her nest in a little hole in the balcony and she was
00:10doing it
00:10so diligently. She was coming up and down and up and down with so many beautiful things to line
00:15her nest and make it safe for her babies. And then her partner probably would come up one time for
00:21every 10 times that she did. So he I'm sure had many qualities but home building was not one of
00:25them. But and he would come up with things that wouldn't fit through the hole. It was it was so
00:31amusing to watch but so beautiful to watch because you could see that they were building a life together
00:36a home together preparing for their babies. And then it makes me think of other birds, chickens on
00:41factory farms who never get the opportunity to do any of the things that come naturally to them that
00:46give their life any kind of meaning. They suffer from the moment that they're born until the moment
00:51that they're slaughtered. And how do we make people see that those are individuals that they
00:59just as the wild birds outside that they want to be free as well and they're more than just wings
01:05in a
01:05bucket to be consumed without a second thought when you could just so easily choose a hummus sandwich
01:11instead. Nobody needs to be consuming animals and yet they're suffering in their billions because of our
01:15choices. So how do we make people see that? If you look at the kid the baby that is born
01:26there is this
01:28natural realization that if there is a is a lamb a small one or a baby rabbit the kid is
01:39not going to
01:40attack and slaughter or even harm in any serious way. I have been with rabbits and I have been with
01:51kids and
01:52have not seen kids trying to strangulate rabbits. So does the human being have to be taught compassion
02:03or does he have to be untaught violence? Is compassion another layer of education that we need to wear or
02:20is
02:21compassion the very natural order of things in the universe?
