01:13I'm at the train station in Italy right now and I was just having this thought.
01:17What happened to the days when men would get up from a bench and let a lady sit down?
01:22We're not against men offering their seats to women at the train station or delivery drivers going the extra mile
01:29to carry heavy chairs into a client's home, especially when someone genuinely needs the help.
01:34That's simply kindness and courtesy.
01:37But the issue starts when these gestures are no longer appreciated and instead become an entitlement or an expectation.
01:45Should chivalry be something freely given or something women should expect from men?

01:52I went to go pick up packages.

02:12He's probably going to bus us upstairs because he also lives here and he's also going upstairs.

02:21Oh, I thought I was going to get help.

02:23No, he couldn't even do that.

02:27We've seen a lot of different situations here.
02:30Women struggling with heavy chairs, a woman trying to manage a big load in an elevator, a pregnant woman standing
02:36on a bus, women sitting at the back of a van while men took the seats, and even women questioning
02:42why men weren't offering help.
02:44But maybe the bigger conversation should be simply about whether men are being chivalrous enough.
02:50We should be talking about consideration.
02:52If you're a man and you see someone who genuinely needs help, offering a hand can be a simple act
02:58of kindness.
02:59And if you're a woman receiving that help, appreciating the gesture can go a long way, too.
03:05At the same time, kindness becomes complicated when it turns into an expectation, where someone feels another person owes them
03:12a seat, assistance, or special treatment simply because of their gender.
03:17Men aren't mind readers, and women aren't entitled to every act of courtesy.
03:22That said, the better standard is simple.
03:25Help when you can.
03:27Appreciate when someone helps you.
03:29And communicate when you genuinely need assistance.
03:32Remember, respect shouldn't be about men versus women.
03:35It should be about people looking out for people.
