01:00Many, many decades, probably centuries, but you go back, way back in the line of presidents and almost every president
01:10at least mentioned it, but most of them just mentioned it.
01:13Some really wanted to make a deal.
01:16And it never got done, but we're getting it done.
01:19So this is tremendous for Europe and for the United States and for everybody.
01:24And for Greenland, it's going to be incredible.
01:26And the people of Greenland have been so nice.
01:29The people of Denmark have been amazing.
01:31And so I know it's going to be a long-term, fantastic relationship.
01:35So I want to thank you all for being here.

01:51And I'd just like to ask the Prime Minister of Denmark to say a few words, and then Prime Minister
01:56of Greenland.

02:07Mr. President, ever since the Second World War, the United States has defended the free world, created prosperity and progress,
02:18peace and freedom.
02:20And I am very proud to say that in the Kingdom of Denmark, the United States has a friend that
02:27has always kept our word, an ally you have always been able to rely on.
02:33And this day represents a milestone in our long-standing cooperation.
02:43First of all, thank you, Mr. President.
02:47Today is a very important day for our shared security.
02:51We are signing an agreement that brings the 1951 Defense Agreement into 2026.
02:57With this, we build on 85 years of security cooperation, during which we have welcomed the U.S. military in
03:05our country.
03:07Greenland's territory was indispensable in World War II through the Cold War
03:13and has supported U.S. homeland security ever since.
03:18That is a record we are proud of.
03:21And one this agreement carries forward.
03:25The world has changed a great deal since 1951.
03:29A notable change is Greenland itself at the table today signing this agreement.
03:35And for Greenland, this is not only an agreement about us.
03:39It is an agreement with us.
03:42It takes into account the people of Greenland, our rights, our livelihoods, and the development of our country.
03:53This has been a key priority for us throughout this process and a welcomed outcome of what we sign here
