00:00Her father wasn't able to read and write when she was a little girl and she
00:04experienced how that impacted him. And so she watched as a little girl him not
00:09being able to to read and how that maybe impacted him achieving some of his
00:13dreams, certainly for their family. And so when she got successful and went on
00:17into the world she decided to create the Imagination Library to get books into
00:21the hands of children early in life and inspire them to love reading.
00:25It's hugely important that kids read, actually read, print, read books. I think
00:32we're exposed to so much, you know, visual imagery that doesn't really force us to
00:38think. We just see colored lights and, you know, we're kind of passive. Reading is
00:43something that's active. It only exists because you've learned that those marks
00:49on the page can give you a story, can give you an emotion, sadness, joy, fear,
00:55to tell you a story.
