00:01A community centre here in Devonport is being set up as a courtroom for the coronial hearing
00:07this week. The special arrangements have been made to make the hearing more widely accessible.
00:12It was December 2021 when an end of year celebration at Devonport's Hillcrest Primary
00:18School turned tragic. Six children died and three were seriously injured when a freak gust of wind
00:24ripped a jumping castle from the ground and propelled it into the air. Among others during
00:30this inquest were expecting to hear evidence from Georgie Burt, the mother of Zayn Millor,
00:35who was one of the children to lose his life. As well as Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania,
00:41the health department and a medical expert. Ahead of this inquest the coroner was told there was
00:46little factual dispute about the events of the day and eyewitnesses weren't proposed. Now it's
00:52almost five years on. This inquest was proposed so the criminal prosecution of the owner of the
00:58jumping castle, Rosemary Gamble, could proceed. That case finished in June last year with Magistrate
01:04Robert Webster finding Ms Gamble not guilty of failing in her work health and safety duty.
01:10This case differs. The coroner will be looking at the circumstances of the children's deaths
01:15with the aim of making findings and recommendations to prevent a similar event from occurring again.
