Japan floods are worsening as Typhoon Dujuan brings torrential rain toward eastern Japan, with up to 350mm of rainfall forecast across parts of the country.Typhoon Dujuan, Japan’s 25th typhoon of 2026, is approaching the Kanto region and areas around Tokyo, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and heightened risks of flooding, landslides and overflowing rivers.Izu Oshima recorded 387.5mm of rain in 24 hours, while Kimitsu in Chiba recorded 283.5mm. Forecasters warned that rainfall could reach 350mm in Tokai, 300mm in Kanto and the Izu Islands, and 200mm in Tohoku.But Japan’s flooding story goes beyond Typhoon Dujuan. Earlier in September, exceptional rainfall hit eastern Japan.
