00:00As Morocco readies for Wednesday's parliamentary elections, all eyes are on young voters.
00:08These are the first elections since youth-led protests spread across the country in late 2025.
00:16Now some of the protesters are running for office.
00:22These political parties, the government and all the components of Morocco
00:27are the best and most creative thing humanity has achieved.
00:31We don't have a problem with the political parties or with the government,
00:36but we must look for where the problem lies.
00:39To solve the problem, we young people must participate strongly and in large numbers.
00:46According to official data, more than a third of young Moroccans are unemployed,
00:51almost three times the country's overall rate.
00:55The protests also called for better public services and an end to corruption.
01:03As a young person who previously took part in the Gen Z protests, I can't say that I have a
01:09lot of hope.
01:11But there is hope that the next government will launch projects that will enable us to achieve our basic demands,
01:18especially health, education and a decent life.
01:24This summer, tens of thousands of young Moroccans crossed into the Spanish enclave of Siota, hoping to find a better
01:33life.
01:34But most soon returned home disillusioned.
01:39The decision to migrate came from a search for freedom and new cultures and to be able to develop myself
01:46and find new opportunities.
01:48But I faced difficulties in Siota.
01:51We experienced a state of emergency during the first three days.
01:55We had no food and no place to sleep.
01:58While some former protesters are turning to the ballot box, many young people are still on the sidelines.
02:06Moroccans aged 18 to 24 account for some 12% of the population, but make up just 4% of
02:14registered voters.
