00:00The Convention on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats,
00:04commonly known as the Berne Convention, is an international convention whose purpose is to ensure
00:08the conservation of wildlife and the natural environment of Europe through cooperation between
00:12the States. It was signed on 19 September 1979 in Bern, Switzerland, within the framework of the Council
00:18of Europe, and entered into force on 1 June 1982. It is the only regional convention
00:24of this type in the world. The wild fauna and flora constitute a natural heritage of significant interest.
