00:01Welcome back to Bloomberg This Weekend, or...
00:04David Gurra, have you been in this copy?
00:06I got into the copy.
00:08Someone has been into this copy.
00:09I even spelled it phonetically for you.
00:11As I go to say B-T-dubs, it is written out meticulously.
00:14Every day, every day I'm trying to make this happen.
00:15Double M-U is in quotation marks.
00:17I'm David Gurra.
00:18A little behind the scenes.
00:19Thank you for showing that.
00:20Pedantic lunatic next to me.
00:21Yeah, there we go.
00:21Zoom in on that.
00:22There you go.
00:23Properly formatted.
00:25Secrets out.
00:26That's great.
00:27All right.
00:28You infiltrated me.
00:29Help.
00:29Are you?
00:30Are you helping?
00:31Always, always.
00:32No, you know who is helpful?
00:33Lisa Mateo.
00:34With BTW, yes.
00:35Some of the stories we might have missed during the week.
00:37Okay.
00:37You guys like going to the movies, right?
00:39I do.
00:39It's a fun time.
00:39When I have time to do it, yes.
00:40Okay.
00:40But what about extreme movie going?
00:43Extreme movie going.
00:43Let me bring this one to you.
00:44This is from Bloomberg.
00:46Lionsgate and Neon are turning movie going into a stunt sport.
00:50Okay?
00:51What?
00:51So let me give you an example.
00:52There was a treadmill screening, okay?
00:54Oh, thank you.
00:54This was Stephen King's adaptions of The Long Walk.
00:57The Long Walk, okay?
00:57That was a movie, The Long Walk that came out.
00:59Teenagers forced to walk at three miles an hour or be shot by a military escort, okay?
01:03The Lord.
01:04So last year, moviegoers, they walked three miles an hour on a little treadmill for the
01:09full duration of the movie.
01:12Wow.
01:12Which is pretty long.
01:13Interesting.
01:14And they had actors like dressing as drill sergeants, barking the rules at the people who were
01:18there to watch the movie and continue walking.
01:21And then Lionsgate also had this rock climbing thriller, Fall to Dead Point, okay?
01:25So they basically placed people in harnesses, okay?
01:29Yeah.
01:29Wobbling on elevated platforms to kind of test their balance.
01:33This is all as they're watching the movie, okay?
01:34So you're getting the full experience of the movie.
01:38Interesting.
01:38That's why people say they like it.
01:40This is not for me.
01:41My full experience involves.
01:43I thought we were talking about...
01:44You want that play of video games.
01:45You thought we were talking about like 4DX or like...
01:47Now you can get cocktails and a meal.
01:48Oh, that too.
01:48Okay.
01:48I thought you were talking about 4D.
01:50Where they like blow things at you, which I would hate.
01:53Yeah.
01:53Yes.
01:53That's like old news now.
01:55This is the new thing.
01:56And perhaps sleep if you're a tired dad.
01:58This is apparently the new thing.
01:59People just don't go to go watch a movie.
02:01They want to experience the full thing.
02:03Feel how the actors felt during it.
02:05You know, that whole thing.
02:06I don't want to say that, but there is a gym.
02:08I think it's in Denver that used to be a movie theater and the spin bikes are in the
02:12movie theater and they just play movies on a loop and you can just go in there and
02:16work out and watch the movie.
02:17I mean, like that I would do.
02:18That would be fine.
02:18So it has nothing to do with like ties to the movie.
02:20No.
02:20It's just like a big, it's a full screen and there are like spin bikes on there.
02:23I feel like I would work out longer if I got distracted by the giant movie.
02:26Which is true.
02:27I don't need to experience it.
02:28But yeah, it's...
02:29It seems like something you'd like, Lisa.
02:30I feel like you'd like a...
02:31I don't know if I could walk on a treadmill for the entire length of a movie.
02:35Good lord.
02:35Are you not a treadmill fan?
02:37No.
02:37I get bored very easily.
02:38I need to be out and about.
02:39Sorry.
02:40I love a treadmill.
02:41All right.
02:42What else you got?
02:42This next one is my biggest pet peeve on the commute home.
02:46Okay.
02:46Wall Street Journal.
02:48For the love of God, please put on headphones.
02:51Okay.
02:51So this is it.
02:52You see it in cafes, buses, airports, right?
02:54I see it on the train all the time.
02:56You're using your phone on speakerphone.
02:59You're playing music.
03:00You're watching videos without headphones.
03:02Everyone else is listening to your TikTok scroll.
03:05People are live streaming too at the same time.
03:09So studies show Gen Z is a big proponent of this.
03:11I agree because my son talks on speakerphone all the time.
03:14It's very annoying.
03:15But they say it's just because of the ease of technology.
03:18Like people think it's like the norm thing to do.
03:21Speakers are good.
03:22It's loud.
03:22You know, you can hear it.
03:23No.
03:24I'm not a proponent of it.
03:24Are you walking around speaking on your speakerphone?
03:27No.
03:27David Burra?
03:28No.
03:28I don't like to talk to people.
03:29Yeah, that's accurate.
03:31I can vouch for that.
03:31I'll text, but this happens on your commute.
03:34I mean, it happens on the commute.
03:34You're developing kind of like an Andy Rooney-style segment on the show.
03:36But if you listen to the story, you've got a real soapbox you like to get on.
03:39Yes.
03:40But you see like people even try to like interfere.
03:42Like, excuse me, can you?
03:44And people get mad.
03:45Do you?
03:58And I say it is my business because I am in the park and it's lovely and everybody's
04:02enjoying themselves and we're listening to your like terrible, and they're flipping.
04:06And they're flipping.
04:07They're scrolling.
04:08And the YouTube voice that people use.
04:10Yeah.
04:10You know what I do?
04:10I'm going to start a foundation called Do You Need Headphones?
04:13Be great.
04:13And I'm going to walk around with cards and say like, I'm so sorry, you clearly have
04:16been unable to purchase headphones.
04:17You could like collect them.
04:18Here you go.
04:19Collect them on flights when they hand them out for free and then you can pass them
04:22out again.
04:22100%.
04:22Do You Need Headphones with Christina Raffini.
04:24A new segment comes over.
04:25I love it.
04:25I love it.
04:25Lisa, you and me were on.
04:26I'm on board.
04:27I'm on board.
04:27But you know what I do?
04:31At that point, I just put in my noise cancelling headphones and I just say, forget it.
04:35I'm just moving on.
04:35Then it's bliss.
04:36Yes.
04:37Then I'm at fun.
04:37Okay.
04:38Wow.
04:38Let's move on, guys.
04:40Lisa's on a board.
04:40She might be wearing them during the show on occasion.
04:42When we try to talk to her in meetings, we've got to check on her hair.
04:45Okay.
04:46Guess what's this weekend?
04:48Oktoberfest kicks off.
04:49Yay!
04:49But it's not October.
04:50Oktoberfest kicks off in Germany this weekend.
04:52They actually started early because warmer weather, longer daylight hours.
04:57Climate change.
04:57So they started a little bit earlier.
04:58Okay.
04:58They started that years ago.
05:00But, so what's happening is that there's this beer tradition from Germany that's coming
05:05here.
05:06Okay.
05:06So this is from the Washington Post.
05:08A German beer tradition brings all you can drink Kolsch.
05:10I love Kolsch.
05:11Do you really?
05:12I hadn't heard of it.
05:13It's a tasty, crisp beer.
05:15That's what they say.
05:16Indeed it is.
05:17But what's different about it is that-
05:19A little lighter.
05:20A lighter.
05:21Oh.
05:21And they serve it in these tiny little glasses.
05:23Yes.
05:23So this is a tradition that's coming here.
05:25So basically, the server comes around, has these little tray of all the little tiny glasses.
05:31Very elegant.
05:31She puts a coaster down and then puts a beer on it.
05:34When you're done drinking your beer, she puts a little tally mark to know that you
05:38finished one.
05:39And then you keep-
05:40She keeps bringing you over.
05:41Keeps the tally going.
05:41Keeps the tally going.
05:42You don't have to get up.
05:43I like that.
05:44I like that a lot, actually.
05:45Yeah.
05:45And also, like, I hate the big ones because then I feel bad if I can't finish them.
05:48So, like, you know, portion it out and then-
05:50And they stay cold.
05:50Yeah.
05:51I think that's great.
05:52I would totally participate.
05:52Not a problem for me.
05:53And when you're done, you just put your little coaster on top and-
05:56I've had beers with you.
05:57You're better at finishing than I am.
05:58That is fair.
05:58Okay.
06:00Let's see if I can squeeze this one in.
06:01Okay.
06:0230 seconds.
06:03Age is just a number in the world of rock and roll.
06:05This is a Wall Street Journal.
06:06Not even a stroke can top these aging rock stars from going on stage.
06:10So, we're talking about Lionel Richie, right?
06:1277.
06:13Rod Stewart, 81.
06:14Barry Manilow, 83.
06:15They're all still rocking it on stage.
06:17Spry young men.
06:18Yes, they are.
06:19And they say they have to keep going.
06:20They do have some health issues and they had to postpone a couple things.
06:24But it just shows how these guys are still going.
06:27Still going.
06:27They're rocking it.
06:28And they're packing it in at these concerts.
06:30All right.
06:31Gotta go see Manilow.
06:32I saw one of them.
06:32Gotta go see Manilow.
06:34That's a great way to end this segment.
06:36I do not have to go see Manilow.
06:38All right.
06:38Thank you, Lisa.
06:39B2W coming up on 8am in New York.
06:42Copacabana.
06:42We're all doing rock after that.
06:44That's it.
06:45Alright.
