00:00Representatives from nearly 200 countries will gather in New York City for the 81st United Nations General Assembly,
00:07and it is all made possible by the men and women of the New York City Police Department.
00:12The NYPD will be responsible for securing the United Nations headquarters and the surrounding area,
00:18protecting delegations and dignitaries as they travel throughout the city,
00:23and providing security for the many meetings, receptions, and other events taking place around the General Assembly.
00:30And we will be doing all of that alongside our partners in the U.S. Secret Service,
00:35as well as the State Department's Diplomatic Security Service, the FBI, U.N. Police, and our other federal, state, and
00:42local partners.
00:44At this time, as the Mayor said, there are no known specific credible threats to this year's General Assembly,
00:51but the NYPD is fully prepared, and we remain vigilant.
00:55The main high-level general debate will start on September 22nd and run through the 28th,
01:02and the week begins with a surge of arrivals into the city on Sunday the 20th.
01:07Throughout the week, our officers will secure hundreds of motorcades as heads of state, foreign ministers,
01:13and other senior officials move between the U.N. hotels, meetings, and events across New York City.
01:19We will also deploy resources to those venues throughout the city while working especially closely with the Secret Service
01:27to support protection for the President of the United States and other heads of state.
