00:00A Birmingham councillor will stand trial next year after denying five assault charges, including three involving police officers.
00:09Siobhan Harper-Nunes, who represents Ladywood, pleaded not guilty at Birmingham Magistrates Court to three counts of assaulting a police
00:17officer and two counts of assault by beating.
00:20The charges relate to an incident in Edgbaston on the 6th of August.
00:24Harper-Nunes was elected as a Green Party councillor in May, but was suspended by the party following the charges
00:31and now sits as an independent.
00:34She has been granted unconditional bail and is due to stand trial over a day and a half in July
00:39next year at Birmingham Magistrates Court on those dates as scheduled.
