00:01South African police found the body of a young woman near Johannesburg on Thursday,
00:06the ninth woman found dead in the area in two months,
00:09in a string of apparent killings that have alarmed the nation.
00:13Police have not said whether the cases are linked.
00:15The latest body was found in Ekur-Huleni, east of Johannesburg,
00:20where some of the other victims were discovered.
00:22However, police said the body appeared to have been dumped there,
00:26and the killing may have taken place elsewhere.
00:28We were called here this morning as the police after the discovery of yet another body of a young woman
00:37that is believed to be in the same age range of the other bodies that were discovered,
00:44which is between the ages of around 29 to 40 or in the bracket of the ages of 30.
00:52South Africa has one of the world's highest murder rates,
00:55while violence against women remains a long-standing problem.
00:58The latest discoveries have renewed public anger over safety and gender-based violence.
01:03Some of the victims were found partially naked and showed signs of sexual assault.
01:08One was identified as a 38-year-old mother who disappeared after going for an afternoon run.
01:30President Cyril Ramaphosa has extended his condolences to the victims' families,
01:35and vowed that no stone will be left unturned in solving the cases.
