00:05Aaron, congratulations on this show.
00:07I watched it very late last night. It's been a really long week.
00:10And then when you're kind of binging on something for a junket
00:12and they're like half-hour episodes and they're all so well written and put together,
00:17it just makes, it makes like three in the morning a whole lot of stuff for me.
00:23Let's address the elephant in the room, which I'm sure you'll be doing all day,
00:26off the bat. Your dad is one of the most beloved actors in film today,
00:33especially around these parts.
00:36So there'll be a lot of eyes on your performance in this.
00:40It's like, has the apple fallen far or close to the tree?
00:45How kind of anxious are you about that?
00:49Do you have to come completely jettison any of those sort of feelings
00:54when you're getting involved in a project like this?
00:55Um, I think, I think when you're, when I'm doing it, when I'm, um, when I was filming it,
01:03I don't think I was thinking about it that much.
01:04But then when you get to things like this and it's like, oh, it's real and it's going out.
01:08So, yeah, anxiety is, can definitely be the name of the game sometimes.
01:13Um, but, but yeah.
01:16I think on the other hand though, people kind of really, would be rooting for you.
01:21Like, I watched this and I, I was like, okay, wow, it's, it's Cillian Murphy's son.
01:27I hope he's good.
01:29And then as the episodes go, you, you're kind of very, very,
01:32so your performance in this is fantastic.
01:34It's like very, very subtle and then very, uh, funny and kind of cutting at times,
01:37especially as the episodes go on.
01:39Um, and I think there'll be an element of people watching it and really like rooting
01:42for you to be good in it.
01:43And it is so good as a show.

01:46Um, have you, have you like watched everything yet?
01:48Do you have a sense of, you know, how good this is and how happy you are with, with it?
01:54Yeah.
01:54I, I, I think I, I struggled to, I have seen it all and I think I really struggled to
01:59watch
01:59it objectively.
02:00Um, and it's, you know, just me watching it on my phone or my laptop.
02:05So I, I'd love to watch it with people and try and gauge how people feel due to their
02:11reactions, if they're laughing and stuff.
02:13Um, but yeah, I struggled to, I mean, I know it's amazing, but I, um, I like watching it.
02:18I can't kind of, I just, you know, can't have a, an objective lens.
02:23You never really know.
02:24It's because the edit is so important on anything because something could be well written,
02:27et cetera, but until it's like, like chopped together and the kind of, there are so many
02:32laughs, so many subtle laughs that come from like noises at times, uh, or just the odd
02:38word at the end of a, of a innocuous conversation in this.
02:42And I think that's like the real like strength of this show.
02:45Uh, people who want to know a little bit more about you, like what kind of, what inspires
02:49you?
02:49Who inspires you?
02:50Like, cause the, the obvious answer is there, but I guess growing up in a, in a creative
02:56family, you might have very different tastes and it may be different films or different
03:00people that have made you want to get into this business and pursue this, this profession.
03:05Yeah.
03:05It's a big question.
03:06I mean, there's a, there's a lot of, a lot of people who inspire me.
03:10Um, I mean, I could name the obvious, like I'm a massive Paul Thomas Anderson, Paul Thomas
03:17Anderson fan.
03:19Um, Punching Love is my favorite movie of all time.
03:22Um, uh, and that's kind of always one that I go back to, to kind of be like, this is
03:26what it's about.
03:27This is really what it's about.
03:28Um, and that kind of like, that realm.
03:33I love Josh O'Connor.
03:34He's definitely a real inspiration.
03:36Um, I think he's such an awesome, awesome actor.
03:38And so lovely as well.
03:40Yeah.
03:40A lot of people.
03:41I've never met him, but I've heard he's lovely.
03:43A lot of people are, are generally like very nice, but there's certain people who have a,
03:46who have a kind of charm.
03:47In fact, when you meet him, like you clearly are this person to every single person you've
03:51ever met.
03:52And this is, uh, it's, it's kind of like captivating to be around, I think.
03:56Um, and, and one of these inspirations, I'm sure is Sharon Horgan.
03:59She's been one of those prolific, uh, dramatic and comedic creative forces, uh, for so, so long.
04:06And this whole show rests on the relationship you have with her as like mother and son.
04:13So what's it been like building that, that bond together and seeing her kind of creative
04:18process up front?
04:19Uh, it's been, it was incredible.
04:21Like it was so amazing.
04:22One, to form that kind of, uh, relationship, which we did by kind of just meeting and just
04:28chatting about, uh, lives and like, um, the characters and like what we thought of them.
04:33Um, um, but it was also just found kind of on the day just because she's so great and
04:39so like open to everything and so easy to have chemistry with that.
04:43We kind of, I think that really helped, helped us find it.
04:47Um, and I've also always loved her work.
04:50So like being able to watch her work, um, on set, like seeing the way she juggles all these
04:57different roles is really, was really pretty remarkable.
05:01Uh, and, uh, and finally kind of going forward, you've, you've not like wasted any time.
05:06You're in like Clara and the sun with Taika Waititi.
05:08Yeah.
05:09Uh, there's, there's, there's you, there's war, which you're in next.
05:12Is that the, the one with like, uh, Dominic?
05:15Like these are, these are massive projects.
05:18And what's the kind of, uh, ambition, maybe not just like, you know, in terms of superstardom
05:23and whatnot, but kind of creatively, what's the kind of route you're looking to go in?
05:26And could we expect you and you and your old man maybe rocking up together at someone in
05:29future?
05:30Is that something you would not want to touch?
05:32Um, I don't, I don't know what, what I want to do next.
05:35I'm kind of open to everything.
05:38I guess it's just about what the, what the, um, what the script is and how people involved,
05:44but I'm still auditioning.
05:45So it's like, whatever comes my way, I'm happy to see, um, yeah, see, but I'm excited to do
05:50something that I don't know what's next though.
05:52Well, I'm certainly, I think lots of people will be excited to see what happens next.
05:55Cause in this, you show like such great chops on both the dramatic side and also kind of an
06:00offbeat humor side.
06:02Uh, and I think that was going to open up all sorts of doors.
06:05So congratulations, man.
