00:00There is a list of seven tombs that archaeologists have been searching for decades, but until now, not a single
00:07one of them has been found.
00:10Each one may contain a person who changed the course of history, or treasures, treasures that caused the disappearance of
00:18entire villages.
00:21These tombs were deliberately hidden.
00:24This was done carefully and deliberately, including killing witnesses and even using rivers to erase any traces.
00:35And now, using satellites, ground-penetrating radar, drones, and large groups of volunteers, even some of the world's best scientists
00:46are forced to admit one thing.
00:48The world is still better at hiding the tombs of kings than we are at finding them.
00:57Each of these seven stories began with a powerful ruler who did everything to ensure that his tomb would not
01:03be found after his death.
01:08And people are still trying to solve each story, even after more than a hundred years have passed.
01:16These stories include emperors and conquerors, queens who fought their enemies, and cunning leaders of nomads.
01:24Even though they were separated by oceans and thousands of years, they all shared one intense desire to completely disappear
01:33without a trace.
01:34But before we begin, if you're new to our channel, please click the subscribe button and also hit the notification

01:45Let's start with the most famous missing tomb in human history.
01:49In the fall of the year 1227, somewhere in the vast plains of Mongolia, Genghis Khan died, the founder of
01:58one of the largest empires in history.
02:01The man who founded an empire stretching from the Pacific Ocean to the gates of Europe disappeared from the world
02:08without a trace.
02:10According to legend, his body was secretly brought back to his homeland, and everyone they encountered on their journey was
02:19killed.
02:20Was mercilessly killed so that no one could reveal where the procession had passed.
02:27They dug a deep grave, and there they placed the leader along with his gold and his wives.
02:34Afterwards, they completely leveled the ground.
02:39A herd of horses was made to walk hundreds of times over the new grave to erase any trace that
02:45might indicate someone was buried there.
02:50According to the legend, the warriors who were part of the procession killed the people who made the grave, and
02:56afterwards, it is said that the warriors themselves were also killed so that the secret would die with them.
03:04Here, absolute silence settled in that has not been broken even after almost 800 years.
03:12Despite the very long search, no medieval traveler or chronicler left even the smallest clue.
03:21There is another version of the story that says an entire forest was planted over the grave so that nature
03:28would completely conceal it.
03:31Nevertheless, some scientists now believe that the sought-after grave might be around the sacred mountain Burkan Khaldun in the
03:40eastern part of Mongolia.
03:42It is said that the young Genghis Khan, who was then known as Temujin, used to hide here from his
03:48enemies and prayed continuously.
03:50The mountain is within what is called the Restricted Zone, where almost no one is allowed to enter by the
03:57Mongolian government.
04:00Access is limited only to shamans and high-ranking officials, and definitely does not include archaeologists carrying shovels.
04:09For many Mongolians, the very idea of disturbing the remains of the Great Khan is an extremely evil and unforgivable
04:17desecration.
04:18They believe that he is the greatest of all shamans, and that his spirit should not be disturbed.
04:25An American engineer and explorer named Albert Yu Meng Lin started a massive project called the Valley of the Khans.
04:33He deliberately chose not to dig the ground because the law strictly prohibits any excavation in the area, and it
04:41could also hurt the feelings of the local residents.
04:44Instead, his team spent several years studying satellite radar images and data from ground-penetrating radar without digging the ground
04:53at all.
04:54Hundreds of thousands of volunteers from different parts of the world helped analyze the data using the internet, so the
05:02search became a huge collaborative project.
05:05People manually marked unusual parts in the images and recorded anything that looked like it might be man-made.
05:13A major expedition discovered more than one hundred archaeological sites, ranging from the Bronze Age to the time of the
05:21Mongol campaigns.
05:24Each suspicious site needs to be examined one by one, because the satellite only detects faint shadows or changes in
05:33the ground and cannot directly see what is underneath.
05:43Other searchers also tried to approach the mountain peak using small drones equipped with cameras.
05:50A French team of researchers even launched small drones directly over the sacred mountain in a desperate attempt to find
05:57even the slightest clue.
06:10There is also a more disturbing version of the story that might better explain why the land is so silent
06:17about his grave.
06:18It's possible that there may be no body buried there in the usual sense.
06:23Instead, what is called a sky burial might have been performed.
06:28There were nomads back then who would leave the dead on top of the mountain and let the wind and
06:34birds of prey take the body.
06:38If that's what happened, searching for a golden coffin or a luxurious tomb would be pointless, because such a tomb
06:45might not really exist.
06:49Now imagine how many more similar tombs are waiting to be discovered, hidden beneath the thick dust of the vast
06:56plains.
06:58If you were compelled to look at the world map because of this story, you probably already understand the style
07:05of this channel.
07:06We don't just scare people with empty stories.
07:11We're searching for mysteries, but we choose to follow the evidence and the facts into places textbooks sometimes can't reach.
07:29The second missing king, when he was still alive, conquered almost the entire world known to people in his time,
07:36from Greece to India.
07:38Alexander the Great died in distant Babylon in 323 BC.
07:44His body did not simply disappear into an unknown grave.
07:48Instead, it became one of the most important relics of the entire ancient world.
07:53His embalmed body was placed in a luxurious mausoleum at the very center of Alexandria.
08:01The tomb was called the Soma, a short Greek word meaning body.
08:07For many centuries, people visited his embalmed body.
08:12Even the most powerful people in the entire known world would go there to pay their respect.
08:19Once, Julius Caesar himself visited to see the man who had been his idol in his youth.
08:26The first Roman emperor, Augustus, also personally placed a golden crown and fresh fragrant flowers on the stone sarcophagus.
08:36According to legend, he even accidentally broke off a part of the mummy's nose because he was so excited to
08:42see it.
08:43Even the cruel and superstitious Emperor Caracalla once took off his expensive cloak and left it at the very tomb
08:51as a gift.
08:52The tomb was not just a monument.
08:54It became the center of a cult and an important part of an entire dynasty.
08:59And then, something seemingly impossible happened.
09:02The tomb of one of the greatest conquerors in history suddenly disappeared from the records.
09:09This, earthquakes, wars, and the passage of time gradually erased the Soma from the map, and no one recorded its
09:16exact location.
09:18In the past two centuries, more than 20 major archaeological excavations have been conducted in Alexandria, but none have provided
09:26a definite answer.
09:27A Greek researcher named Callio Calliopilimneos Papakosta has been carefully excavating Shalalet City Park for more than 20 years.
09:35He firmly and determinedly believes that the lost royal quarter of ancient Alexandria is right beneath this quiet parking lot.
09:45In 2009, her team found a marble statue of Alexander that was life-sized.
09:52This discovery, made on the last day of their excavation season, further strengthened her belief that they are close to
10:00finding what they have long been searching for.
10:04Their excavation was so deep that groundwater often seeped into the site.
10:11They had to install pumps and set up an entire system of hoses and pipes to keep the area dry.
10:19The team excavated the first roads of ancient Alexandria, as well as the remains of a massive public building.
10:28To know where to search, he studies old maps of the city and ancient texts from classical authors.
10:36They also used electrical exploration devices to examine what lies beneath the ground.
10:43More than a dozen mysterious underground anomalies have already been identified beneath the park.
10:49Each of these could be a wall, a road, or possibly an entrance leading to the mausoleum itself.
10:58Is it possible that the embalmed body of Alexander still lies beneath the streets of a living city?
11:04Maybe just under coffee shops, buildings, and the continuous flow of traffic?
11:12Every day, people might be walking right above one of the greatest treasures of ancient times without even knowing it.
11:21What do you think about the city you live in?
11:24And is it possible that there is forgotten history right beneath your streets?
11:30Share in the comments what you think the ground in your area might be hiding.
11:34Because honestly, almost anywhere could have secrets like these.
11:39The third tomb.
11:41The burial site on our list is currently in one of the most intense phases in the history of the
11:46search.
11:48We're talking about the famous Queen Cleopatra, the last ruler of ancient Egypt, and her Roman lover, Mark Anthony.
11:57They both took their own lives in 30 BC when Egypt finally fell into the hands of Rome.
12:02It is believed that they were buried together, but until now historians still cannot determine the exact location of their
12:10tomb.
12:11For many centuries, historians have believed that the queen may have been buried in Alexandria, near the luxurious royal palace
12:18by the sea.
12:20But there is one woman who has long been trying to prove that all these previous assumptions may be wrong.
12:27Kathleen Martinez is a lawyer by profession, not a professional archaeologist.
12:32And even though it's unusual, this is exactly where her strength came from.
12:37She approached the mystery like a complicated criminal investigation.
12:41Instead of relying only on old maps, she analyzed the motifs and ancient symbolism that could provide clues.
12:48For several years, Kathleen Martinez has been excavating at the temple of Taposiris Magna, located west of Alexandria, near a
12:58quiet and almost abandoned coastline.
13:01The name of the temple can be translated as the Great Tomb of Osiris, the god of death and resurrection.
13:09Cleopatra believed that she was the earthly incarnation of the goddess Isis, the wife of Osiris.
13:16Simple, but the logic is easy to follow.
13:19The queen may have chosen this temple so she could be with the gods after her death.
13:24There are ancient coins with Cleopatra's face and many small figurines that have also been found in the temple.
13:32Many historians and Egyptologists initially considered her theory as just a good story, not an idea worthy of serious scientific
13:41attention.
13:41But in 2022, her team discovered something that shook the archaeological community.
13:49A tunnel more than 1,300 meters long and about 13 meters deep was found beneath the temple.
13:58Engineers called it a true geometric miracle because of its unbelievably precise construction in solid rock.
14:06The mysterious tunnel leads directly to the sea, and a large part of it has already been filled with salty
14:13seawater.
14:14Because of this, Martinez sought help from an oceanographer named Robert Ballard, the same legendary researcher who discovered the sunken
14:23ship Titanic.
14:25Underwater.
14:26The team discovered an ancient port that had sunk along the coast with pillars, floors, and anchors.
14:33The old coastline was revealed.
14:36In ancient times, it was almost 4 kilometers away from its current position towards the sea.
14:43This means that a large part of the ancient landscape during Cleopatra's time is now under the Mediterranean Sea.
14:51Because of this, there is a possibility that the royal tomb may be hidden in the flooded areas within the
14:57complex.
14:58Before this, two mummies of high-status individuals were found, along with golden amulets.
15:06These were also found in the same place.
15:09For Martinez, this further strengthened his belief that the queen herself may be buried somewhere nearby.
15:17If Cleopatra is truly found, it would be one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of modern times,
15:24comparable to the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb.
15:29The fourth missing tomb, and since we've mentioned Tutankhamun, our fourth story might actually be hidden right behind the painted
15:39walls of his tomb.
15:41Queen Nefertiti was one of the most influential women in the history of ancient Egypt.
15:49Her famous sculpted bust, which shows her almost perfect face, is now carefully preserved in a museum in Berlin.
15:59But where exactly is Nefertiti's royal body?
16:03Until now, modern science still cannot say this with certainty.
16:08A British Egyptologist, Nicholas Reeves, put forward a bold theory that surprised many of his colleagues.
16:16He studied the highly detailed laser scans of the painted walls in the tomb of the young Tutankhamun in the
16:23famous Valley of the Kings.
16:25Under a layer of painted plaster, he noticed thin and straight lines that resembled the outlines of doors.
16:35His hypothesis might explain some mysteries that Egyptologists have long been pondering.
16:43Tutankhamun's tomb is too small, and it actually resembles a tomb for a queen more than that of a king.
16:49In addition, it's located on the right side of the entrance, a location that was commonly used for some women's
16:58tombs in ancient Egypt.
17:01Reeves believes that the tomb may have originally been intended for Nefertiti, and that Tutankhamun's body was only added later.
17:10The young pharaoh may have died suddenly at a young age, so there was not enough time to prepare a
17:16large royal tomb for him.
17:18If this theory is correct, there may be an unopened royal tomb hidden right behind the painted wall, and that
17:26could be Nefertiti's very own tomb.
17:29In 2015, a scan revealed a possible empty space behind the wall, estimated to have a 90% certainty according
17:37to the initial analysis.
17:38At that time, Egypt's minister of antiquities called it a possible discovery of the century and promised it would be
17:46investigated quickly.
17:47But in the following studies, the results were different, so until now the debate is still heated.
17:53Two female mummies from a nearby tomb 21 are also being studied because of their possible connection to Nefertiti.
18:01Some experts said there is a sudden empty space behind the wall, while others insisted that there is only solid
18:09rock there.
18:12Because of this difference, the Egyptian authorities eventually prohibited drilling into the sacred wall.
18:19Is it possible that one of the most important figures of ancient times has long been watching us from behind
18:25a wall?
18:31A story about gold buried under a river, Attila, the powerful leader of the Huns, was a man whom all
18:39of Europe called the Scourge of God.
18:43His fierce army brought great fear even to mighty Rome, and his name became a symbol of danger and terror.
18:58Some believe he died of an illness, while others are convinced that he may have been secretly assassinated.
19:05The historian Jordanes gave us an account of his burial based on the records of Priscus, a Roman historian and
19:12diplomat.
19:13The body of the deceased leader was placed in three coffins, each nested inside the other like a Russian nesting
19:21doll.
19:22The innermost coffin was made of pure gold, the middle coffin was made of shiny silver, and the outermost was
19:30made of sturdy iron.
19:32The gold and silver symbolized the wealth that the Huns gained from their conquests, while the iron represented their military
19:40power.
19:42Along with Attila, his weapons and a great amount of treasure taken from his enemies were also buried.
19:48And here begins the very legend that explains why, even today, it is impossible to find his tomb.
19:56According to the story, the Huns took a cunning step to completely hide his tomb.
20:01They diverted the flow of a river, and most likely, the river being referred to is the Tisa River in
20:08present-day Hungary.
20:10Under the dry riverbed, they dug a deep grave and placed three stacked coffins containing the body of their leader.
20:18Afterwards, they returned the water to its original course, and the river completely covered the treasure and the grave.
20:25All the slaves and warriors who helped with the digging were immediately killed, so that no one could reveal the
20:31secret.
20:32Until now, no excavation or even modern ground-penetrating radar has found the so-called Grave of Attila.
20:40Over the years, the river has changed direction many times, and the old riverbed has been covered by thick silt.
20:47But is it possible that the leader's coffin is no longer under the water?
20:52Maybe it's now under a dry field at the edge of the old river channel, and until now, the river
20:58gently flows over one of the richest tombs believed to be hidden in European history.
21:04Is there an ancient river that suddenly changed direction near your city or country?
21:09Share your story in the comments.
21:11Because sometimes, under the water and beneath old floodplains, there are things hidden that we never expect.
21:20The sixth story will take us far north to the misty and tumultuous ancient Britain.
21:26Boudicca was a brave and determined queen of the Iceni tribe in ancient times.
21:32When she and her daughters were treated cruelly by the Romans, she launched a massive rebellion against the Roman Empire.
21:41Her massive army, full of rage, burned the Roman city of Londinium to the ground.
21:48This city would later become London.
21:51Many of the people living there were also among the victims.
21:55Even today, archaeologists can still see a red layer of ash beneath the ground in London.
22:01It is believed to be the trace of that massive fire.
22:05After London, her army also burned two more major Roman cities in Britain.
22:11According to ancient writers, tens of thousands of people from both sides were killed in the uprising.
22:18In the end, the rebellion ended in a bloody battle.
22:22According to legend, Boudicca drank poison so she wouldn't be captured and forced to surrender to the Romans.
22:29But where did they hide the body of the rebel queen?
22:32Until now, the exact location of her grave is still unknown.
22:37Over the centuries, many theories have emerged, and each one is stranger than the last.
22:44The most famous urban legend says that her grave is right under King's Cross Station in London.
22:51According to this story, the rebellious queen lies buried beneath one of the platforms that are still used by regular
22:58passengers today.
23:00Historians are very skeptical about this fascinating story.
23:03But it's really hard to prove or completely disprove this because no one can just dig under a working train
23:11station in the middle of a huge city.
23:14Other researchers are searching for Boudicca's secret burial site in the hills of the English countryside, far from the crowded
23:21capital.
23:22There's also a theory that she might have been secretly buried with honor, along with her chariot and weapons.
23:28But the Romans left no clear clues as to where exactly the dangerous rebel queen was buried.
23:35The body of the woman who bravely challenged one of the most powerful empires in the world was ultimately lost
23:42to history without a trace.
23:44The true warrior queen may still be lying in the cold earth of Britain, nameless, and to this day, not
23:52completely defeated by time.
23:54And this brings us to the seventh and final lost tomb, on the other side of the world.
23:59Our final story will take us to the very heart of the ancient and powerful Aztec empire.
24:06Since the arrival and conquest of the Spanish, they have not found a single clear tomb of an Aztec emperor.
24:15However, ancient records themselves say that the ashes of three rulers were buried near the main temple.
24:21According to Aztec tradition, their deceased rulers were cremated, and the remaining ashes were buried at the foot of the
24:30templo mayor.
24:31A massive pyramid once stood at the very center of Tenochtitlan, in the place where Mexico City now stands.
24:39In 2006, ordinary workers accidentally discovered a massive stone monolith in the middle of Mexico City.
24:47On a stone slab weighing almost 13 tons, the image of Tlaltecutli, the powerful and fearsome goddess of the earth,
24:56was skillfully carved.
24:59According to legend, she is a woman with sharp claws who devours the dead and gives them new life.
25:06In the claws of her right hand, the fearsome goddess holds a small rabbit.
25:11Next to it, the number 10 is carefully carved.
25:16According to Aztec symbols, this combination refers to 10 rabbit, which corresponds to the year 1502.
25:23This is the very year when, according to records, the powerful Emperor Ahuizotl died.
25:30He was one of the most feared, most successful, wealthiest, and most warlike rulers in the long history of the
25:38Aztec empire.
25:39Mexican archaeologist Leonardo López Luján immediately realized that the massive monolith might indicate the almost exact location of an ancient
25:48burial site.
25:49The researchers used ground-penetrating radar right beneath the heavy stone, and they found several empty chambers underground.
25:57They gradually dug a narrow tunnel more than 8 meters long, leading straight to the center of an ancient ritual
26:06platform.
26:07Its entrance was sealed with a very heavy stone, weighing approximately 3 tons, like a seal on a letter.
26:16Behind the heavy stone, the researchers found gold jewelry, eagle bones, and the remains of young children who had been
26:23sacrificed.
26:25All of this suggests that there may be a royal burial hidden nearby.
26:29But water, mud, and rocks kept entering the excavation site, so their work was very slow.
26:37The archaeologists descend into the narrow and dark passage using ropes, as if they are hanging on the very cliff
26:44of time.
26:47They might be just one step away from the ashes of the emperor, the man who was once feared by
26:53much of the continent for hundreds of years.
26:57A Spanish cathedral and entire communities of Mexico City were built on top of this site.
27:03Because of this, it's impossible to simply excavate freely on a large scale.
27:09That's why archaeologists carefully recover every centimeter of this important site.
27:16If they find the urn containing the ashes of Ahuitzotl, it would be one of the most important archaeological discoveries
27:24about the Aztec emperors.
27:28The Legacy of St. Daniels
27:28The Palace oops
27:31Eventually, there was this open case.
