Archaeologists have uncovered a remarkable Roman imperial bath complex inside the fortified palace associated with Emperor Maximinus Daza in modern Serbia.
Dating to around AD 310–313, the private bathing complex included a hypocaust heating system, copper boiler, multiple pools and a steam room.
The hypocaust system allowed heated air to circulate beneath the floor, transforming the bath into a sophisticated ancient heating machine.
