00:26more value i should say maybe uh when we look at these two teams i hope so i hope so

00:34i've i mean you know better than anyone i mean the guys are so good it doesn't take them long

00:40figure out a golf course um i think perhaps the the one thing i'd like to think is that
00:47it's not just a typical parkland style course you know the short grass around the greens
00:53if it plays firm and fast like the weather has to behave but if if we can get a little
00:57bit bouncy
00:57and a little bit firmer um i sort of hope that that might bring in i mean that's a very
01:03comfortable
01:03sort of golf course for certainly the australians in the team um some of the golfers from south africa
01:09so so maybe the course setup might be something that they um you know are comfortable with um and
01:17maybe jeff being i don't know even if it's just a fraction of a shot that hopefully that's enough
01:24to do something so i i just have one follow there mike and i don't want to put you out

01:33recently about how jeff had attempted to adopt some of luke donald's meticulous prep process that he'd
01:41used to be successful the last couple rider cups we've heard stories about luke donald
01:44changing the the bed sheets and changing the shampoo and conditioner do you have any interesting
01:50nuggets on a piece of immersive prep that jeff ogilvy's done for the international side you
01:55want to share with us here on the show i haven't got any examples but i did spend quite a
02:00lot of time
02:01with the um the consultant that they've got who's uh sort of one of the analytics guys and that and
02:08i
02:08have that was fascinating like really interesting yeah um and i think the us have got a consultant
02:16as well and this is a guy that um the europeans used in the writer cup oh yeah i do
02:23remember hearing
02:24a good luke donald story though from them okay they were so i think statistically i can't remember where
02:30it was i think it might have been paris national and i i want to say the americans were very
02:36comfortable
02:38with long rough i think statistically they were better with long rough than the europeans europeans
02:45were better out of cut rough i want to say and um really quick greens the americans liked the
02:53europeans like slower greens and i think two weeks prior to the event the americans went there for a
02:59practice and they had the rough left long and the greens really quick and the americans had their
03:04practice and then they went out and cut the rough and slowed the greens down so i think you i
03:10think
03:10you can do stuff like that to sort of just mess with the psychology but um so you're saying this
03:15week as the americans are at at medina right now they're they're playing a place that is on fire is
03:22that what you're telling us i hope so but but there's also like there's not there's a limit to what
03:27you can
03:27change you know like the course set up now you know you can't really go and narrow the fairways um
03:33because it's a different grass in the rough to the fairways and it it messes with irrigation and so
03:39it's kind of i think as the home captain i think you can play with the rough height a little
03:44bit so i
03:44think brent schnedeker can change that a little bit but i think green speeds and and firmness are
03:50going to be more or less controlled by the tour so um yeah i don't think it's it's unfortunate in
03:56a way
03:56because you would love the ability to just like really mess things up as the home captain but i
