00:18Broncos quarterback Bo Nix broke his ankle in the divisional round win

00:24The Broncos were staring down New England for a trip to the Super Bowl,
00:28and instead of panicking, Joe Lombardi and Pete Carmichael,
00:33two of Brees' old Saints assistants who were on the Broncos staff at the time,
00:38well, they went rogue.
00:39They called Drew to kick the tires to see if he could still play
00:42behind Sean Payton's back.
00:45Sean Payton, his own head coach, didn't even know
00:49and didn't even find out until this offseason.
00:52But here's what stopped it.
00:54Brees' shoulder and wrist was still messed up from his glory days,
00:58so it didn't happen.
