00:01A drone has been shot down by a NATO fighter jet after it crossed into Lithuania's airspace.
00:11The European Commission presented on Tuesday a package aimed at facilitating labour mobility in the European Union.
00:20The European Commission will propose a social media restriction for minors under 15 according to a document obtained by Euronews.
00:31After a drone that crossed into Lithuania's airspace from Belarus was destroyed, Lithuania's foreign minister said NATO stands vigilant, committed
00:41and ready.
00:43One Lithuanian official said that it was not yet clear whether the drone, which was shot down by an Italian
00:49fighter jet, had lost its way or whether it was a deliberate provocation.
00:54Meanwhile, Lithuania's prime minister urged for quick progress when it comes to air defence.
01:18Lithuania's national crisis management center said the drone, which was the first to be shot down in Lithuania, crashed into
01:26a rural area near the village of Bratkunai in central Lithuania.
01:30Hours after, Poland also reported activity near its border.
01:35Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia have reported repeated drone incursions since 2022, but interceptions by NATO aircraft remain rare enough to
01:45draw attention.
01:49The U.S. military has admitted that its war on Iran has caused a shortage of ammunition and advanced weapons.
01:56A report by the Department of Defense's Inspector General estimates that the war has cost 33.4 billion dollars or
02:0429 billion euros between February 28 and June 30, including just under 20 billion spent on munitions.
02:11It says the scale of weapons used resulted in strategic inventory shortfalls and exposed bottlenecks in the U.S. defence
02:18industry's ability to replenish supplies.
02:22President Donald Trump dismissed the report and its concerns over supplies, insisting U.S. ammunition stocks are virtually unlimited.
02:30Experts, however, estimate it could take around three years to restore stocks of advanced missiles and defence interceptors to pre
02:37-war levels.
02:37The report also documents extensive damage from Iranian strikes on U.S. bases across the Middle East with hundreds of
02:44buildings and other structures damaged or destroyed.
02:48Those repair costs are not included in the 33.4 billion dollar estimate.
03:00Defence competitiveness and Russia's war in Ukraine are set to be at the centre of Ursula von der Leyen's speech
03:06on the State of the European Union.
03:08Roxana Minzatu, the Vice President of the European Commission, told Euro news.
03:12The President of the European Commission will deliver her annual address to the European Parliament on Wednesday in Strasbourg.
03:18The President will take stock of our progress in the past year.
03:23We have had so many challenges to deal with, from cost of living to our energy security, our competitiveness,
03:31looking overall at the security landscape here in Europe and the support that we give to Ukraine, looking at children's
03:38safety online.
03:39Meanwhile, the European Commission presented on Tuesday a package aimed at facilitating labour mobility in the European Union.
03:47Roxana Minzatu, the Vice President of the European Commission in charge of social rights and skills,
03:52says it will be a game-changer for the 7.3 million EU citizens working in another EU country and
03:59the 1.9 million cross-border commuters.
04:02Wherever you choose to travel in Europe, to study in Europe, to work in Europe, your social rights and your
04:09skills and your qualifications can travel with you.
04:12And that's the cornerstone of the single market, but also of the European social model.
04:17The package ambitions, for instance, to improve skills and qualifications recognition from one EU country to another,
04:23and to make it easier for individuals to exercise their social security rights.
04:32World Athletics is not planning to ease restrictions on Russian athletes anytime soon.
04:37That was stated by the Federation's President Sir Sebastian Kow, who spoke exclusively to Euronews.
04:42The International Olympic Committee has announced that it is easing its own restrictions,
04:46but has said that each international federation must make its own decision on the matter.
04:50The Russian Athletics Federation, along with groups of Russian athletes, has appealed to the Court of Administration for Sport,
04:56as well as to the Human Rights Committees of the IOC and the UN.
04:59The Executive Director of the Russian Athletics Federation, Boris Yaryshevsky, has claimed that Kow has a personal vendetta against Russian
05:06athletes.
05:06We will maintain our position and we will defend our position.
05:10We're fighting for the integrity of competition, and the integrity of competitors,
05:16and the primacy of an international federation to decide how it determines eligibility,
05:22is not a personal issue, it is one of philosophy.
05:26The first ever Ultimate Championship was held this year in Budapest,
05:29bringing together some of the world's top athletes to compete for the title of Ultimate Champion,
05:34as well as substantial prize money.
05:36I hope it's a very, very strong legacy, because we're looking at the sport in a very different way.
05:42We want this to feel different, to look different, particularly for the athletes.
05:47The prize money is significantly larger than we've ever had before, $10 million.
05:53And the format is significantly different, because it's not a full World Championships with 2,000 athletes,
06:01it's 381 from 65 different countries, but it really does determine the best of the best.
06:08Sebastian Kow took the helm of what was then known as the EAF in 2015.
06:14We asked him to briefly summarize his most significant achievements during his time at the Federation.
06:21We've worked really hard to put governance, safeguards, checks and balances in place.
06:26We have an athletic integrity unit that now has made independent all our drug testing,
06:33but also our integrity programs, the way we manage ourselves during elections, all that is very, very different.
06:42I'm very pleased that we are the only Olympic sport that has a gender balance council.
06:49We have 26 members, 13 men, 13 women, and each and every one of them is there on merit.
06:54The next president of the World Athletics will be elected next September.
07:03The European Commission is set to unveil an EU Kids Act on Thursday.

07:36according to a confidential document obtained by Euronews.
07:41The age restrictions apply to all minors under 15 following a graduated approach.
07:47Children under 3 are barred entirely from social media and other high-risk services.
07:53From 3 to 13, children can access child-friendly services under adult supervision.
07:59Those aged 13 to 15 would get restricted access to social media and video sharing platforms with limited features and
08:08under parental control.
08:09The draft EU Kids Act includes a list of do's and don'ts that tech companies will have to follow.
08:15In particular, the bill bans design features such as infinite scrolling,
08:21artificial notifications and certain reward mechanisms.
08:26Risky settings should be disabled by default,
08:29while minors' account content would have to be set to private with unknown users unable to contact them.
08:39The United Nations has called on Israel to allow international investigators into every part of Gaza
08:45as human remains continue to be recovered from the territory's ruins.
08:49The UN Human Rights Office said access to destroyed sites was essential for gathering evidence and identifying victims.
08:56According to the Palestinian civil defense, more than 630 bodies and other remains have been recovered from collapsed buildings since
09:04last November.
09:07The UN also cited an estimate that more than 8,000 people remain missing beneath the rubble.
09:14UN rights chief Volker Turk said what appeared to be entire families were being unearthed from locations destroyed in Israeli
09:22attacks,
09:22warning that the remains recovered so far could be only the tip of the iceberg.
09:28He called for forensic evidence and biological samples to be preserved and for burial locations to be recorded.
09:35The UN said the discoveries raised concerns about possible war crimes and other atrocity crimes.
09:42Gaza's help ministry says more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed since the war began.
09:53A former leading member of the Greek neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn, Ilyas Kassidiaris, has been released from prison and
10:01vowed a return to politics.
10:03Dozens of his supporters had gathered outside Domoko's prison in Central Greece,
10:08some holding Greek flags and chanting slogans in his favor.
10:11I have given you the word that once I pass this bridge, I will not just come to freedom,
10:20but also to the first column of ethnic battles.
10:22And today I come, and from what I see, I am not alone.
10:27It is with me and a new, strong, ethnic government,
10:31such as those that governs all over Europe.
10:34I am not alone.
10:36I am not alone.
10:37I am not alone.
10:39I am not alone.
10:40I am not alone.
10:41Kassidiaris was sentenced to 13 years in prison in 2020 as a leading member of the criminal organization
10:47which for years had been linked to violent attacks on migrants and political opponents,
10:52as well as to the murder of anti-fascist musician Pavlos Fissas in 2013.
10:57He served as a member of parliament for Golden Dawn from 2012 to 2019.
11:03Despite being behind bars, he did not give up political activity.
11:07He continued to intervene via social media, mainly through his YouTube channel,
11:12which has around 162,000 subscribers.
11:15Before he was imprisoned, Kassidiaris founded a new political formation, Greeks,
11:20and even from prison tried to take part in the 2023 parliamentary elections.
11:25However, the Supreme Court banned his party from running.
11:29In July this year, he found himself in the spotlight after billionaire Elon Musk
11:34called the continuation of his detention confusing and wrong in a post on X.
