In Operation Mincemeat, British intelligence dressed a dead man as Major William Martin, planted fake invasion papers on his body, and released him into the sea off Spain. Hitler believed the lie, moved troops toward Greece — and the Allies stormed Sicily.
The man they called Major Martin was actually Glyndwr Michael, a homeless Welshman whose death helped change the course of World War II.
