00:03The man and woman who died over the weekend when they were run over by a subway train had been
00:07identified as Navam Kahl from Sayreville, New Jersey and Malika Chitri from Dayton, New York.
00:12Both were just 24 years old. The horrifying scene was captured on tape by a strap hanger
00:16on the opposite train platform. Law enforcement sources tell The Post that the man had either
00:20fallen or jumped onto the tracks, prompting the woman to follow, possibly to try to help him.
00:25The pair then sat on the rails at the Spring Street station and didn't move out of the way
00:29when a southbound Ford train came barreling towards them. The NYPD is investigating the
00:33incident and specifically looking into whether or not the victims were intoxicated to the point
00:37that they may not have realized the danger they were in until it was too late. Now,
00:41a friend of the victims told The Post that they were longtime friends who'd gone to high school
00:44and college together, recently graduating from Rutgers. According to their respective LinkedIn
00:49profiles, Chitri worked in pharmaceuticals and was studying to be a doctor of pharmacy,
00:53while Kahl was a financial data analyst for Bloomberg. No suicide note had been discovered.
00:57However, police haven't ruled that out as a motive. Kahl's friend told The Post, however,
01:01quote, there's nothing in his life that would make him do anything stupid.
