00:30To the point, I'm Preeti Chaudhary.
00:32First up, allow me to take you through the headlines.
00:37Bike ride on Guru Gram's busy golf course road takes a frightening turn for a female biker.
00:43Car chases her, hits her bike and speeds away.
00:46Shocking incident caught on camera.
00:48Guru Gram police files Suomoto FIR.
01:01India Today tracks the accused car driver.
01:03Kalyan Baisla remains brazen, blames victim for incident.
01:07Says she was driving erratically and she posted an edited video to show them in bad light.
01:30Man who brutally assaulted retired Indian Air Force officer arrested Kargil war veteran was attacked with an iron rod by
01:37a parking attendant in Guru Gram.
01:39Relentless India Today coverage forces authorities to act.
01:49CBI registers FIR in Disha Salayan death case.
01:53FIR names UBT, Uva Sena leader, Aditya Thakre, actor Dino Maurya, Rhea Chakravarti and Suraj Pancho lead the FIR.
02:01Disha's fiancé, Rohan Roy, also named.
02:11Indian women's team refuses to collect the Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan cricket chief Mohsen Nakwee after their thumping win
02:19in the finals against Sri Lanka and Dubai.
02:22BCCI says no question of change in India's stand.
02:38Most of us looked at one particular incident that has come out of Guru Gram as road rage.
02:44But it's not just road rage, is it?
02:47This is the classic male entitlement syndrome.
02:51Why so?
02:52We'll take you through.
02:53We'll break it down on what really happened and it's not quite the first time it's happened in India.
02:57In this case, a young woman biker was chased on a city road and then rammed by a speeding car.
03:03She was left injured.
03:04This incident coming in from Guru Gram has once again put the spotlight on a dangerous mindset on India's roads
03:11where power, privilege, entitlement and male ego seemingly overrides every rule.
03:18And this isn't an isolated case.
03:20From deadly crashes involving luxury cars to reckless stunts on public roads,
03:24there are repeated examples of people behaving as if the law simply doesn't quite apply to them.
03:30In this particular case, you have one woman who is on a bike riding where she's asked to stop by
03:38men who seemingly are drunk as per the woman in a car.
03:42When she doesn't stop, she asks them to keep distance.
03:45They keep trying to get close to her, asking her to stop.
03:49When she repeatedly doesn't stop, it angers them to an extent where they actually bump into her bike.
03:56She falls off the bike's kids, her bike's kids as well.
04:00This was clearly an attempt to murder.
04:02But sadly, this is not the first time it's happened.
04:04You can hark all the way back to the Jessica Lahl murder case where one man pulled the trigger on
04:11a woman because she refused to serve him a drink.
04:13In this case, one woman who refused to stop because some men in a car thought they were entitled and
04:20they kept asking her to stop.
04:22She didn't stop.
04:24It angered their ego to an extent where this happened.
04:36A young woman on a bike, chased on roads, rammed by a speeding car, and left injured.
04:44She was out on a ride with members of a local biking group on Gurugram's golf course road.
04:50In a video posted on Instagram, the biker shared that a car began aggressively tailing her motorcycle and occupants demanded
04:59that she pull over.
05:01But she kept riding.
05:03And the car continued to pursue her.
05:06At the same time, my friend is behind me.
05:09He tries to cover me that the car will not come to the side.
05:12A fellow biker then tried to position himself behind her,
05:16using his own motorcycle to shield her from the pursuing car.
05:21But the car driver then allegedly attempted to cut in front of her bike,
05:25striking her at high speed and fleeing the scene.
05:33India today has spoken to the accused, Kalyan, who has instead blamed the victim,
05:38saying she was driving erratically.
05:41She was driving her, and she was driving her and taking her through.
05:44Then she was driving her for my life.
05:45Okay, I tell her.
05:46I tell her that, you know that the girls virtuously hurt her.
05:51She still hurt her, back then.
05:53I told her not to do anything.
05:56I took heranie at home waiting to protect her.
05:57Before they visited me, I was a professional driver.
06:00You know how you find her, I mean that you throw her away.
06:01Without the water, I came under the side.
06:03The side of the fence, I took her away.
06:07Then I was a little scared.
06:07Not for me.
06:08Then I tried to protect her.
06:15But look beyond this one case.
06:18In February, a speeding Scorpio crushed a 23-year-old boy in Delhi.
06:23In May 2024, a Porsche killed two people in Pune.
06:27In July that year, a BMW hit-and-run killed a woman in Mumbai.
06:31In July 2025, a drunk Audi driver ran over five people sleeping on a footpath in Delhi.
06:40This is not simply about reckless driving.
06:44It is about the entitlement syndrome on India's roads.
06:50Earlier this year, a stunt meant to test Athar's off-road capability
06:54turned into a rescue operation in Haridwar after the SUV got stuck in the Ganga's stream.
07:02In May, occupants of a Thar and a Scorpio were seen performing dangerous stunts
07:07on the Ganga Expressway in Mehrat, openly flouting the Motor Vehicles Act.
07:12What's common in these cases is a fancy car and his mindset.
07:17I can break the rules and I can get away with it.
07:22Unchecked entitlement may begin with a traffic violation.
07:27But time and again, it ends with lives being lost.
07:32Bureau Report, India Today.
07:42Because at one end, there's unchecked entitlement.
07:45On the other, there's unbridled male ego,
07:47especially on the roads of the national capital in the NCR region.
07:51We're going to delve in a little bit more.
07:52But first up, let's quickly get you up to speed with the latest news break
07:56that is coming in on this case.
07:57India Today has now spoken to the family of the victim.
08:01The kin have demanded stern action against the car driver.
08:05The driver of the car had a criminal mindset.
08:08That is what the father of the victim says.
08:11The brother also says all four people inside the car were reportedly drunk.
08:15His sister is traumatized after the incident.
08:19Well, till now, the victim has not filed an FIR of her own volition.
08:24The Gurugram police have taken a surmoto cognizance of this incident
08:28and lodged a complaint against unknown persons.
08:31And that is the reason why the man on your television screen,
08:34though identified as Kalyan Baisla,
08:36still hasn't found himself behind bars.
08:39I want to quickly cut across, sir,
08:41to the reaction coming in from the victim's family,
08:44the father and the brother listening.
08:48Sir, when did you know that the daughter was from the bike and was drunk?
08:54I know that I was just a few days ago,
08:56when you were in the hospital.
08:58Okay.
08:59So, what did you see on the video about the daughter?
09:02I talked about the daughter.
09:04When I saw the daughter, I didn't feel good.
09:08I don't think it's going to be a big crime, but I don't like it.
09:19So, what did your daughter tell you?
09:23My daughter told me that I had told her that you can make a distance.
09:29It is seen in the video, it was a long time, because the kids are going to go to racing
09:39and they are going to drink and drink and drink, so in the way, the people who were in the
09:45car were not able to say that they were not able to say that they were not able to say
09:49that they were a criminal.
09:51If they tried to escape the road, they wouldn't be able to help them with the government.
09:58They would also help them with the government and police.
10:01They told me that it was hit-and-run.
10:04They were chasing their car.
10:07There were four boys in the car and all of them were drunk.
10:11They told me that it was chasing their car.
10:13They were trying to maintain distance.
10:16They were covering their car so that they didn't close the car.
10:24When the accident happened, they took the bike and killed them.
10:30What was your situation with your sister?
10:33Yes, it was happening.
10:35She was on the job.
10:37She had a good recovery.
10:39But she had a lot of time.
10:40She had a lot of time, because she had a lot of time.
10:43It was the same accident.
10:45Because it didn't happen every day.
10:47There was a bike on the road on the road.
10:50And they had a lot of time.
10:53Every year, they had a bike riding and riding.
10:55But they didn't have that experience with them.
10:58I want to quickly cut across to my colleague Anshul Singh who's joining us live with the latest coming in
11:02on the case.
11:03Anshul, till now, neither the victim's family or the victim in this case has filed an FIR.
11:10The man in question, the accused who was behind the wheel is Mr. Baisla.
11:16And till now, there has been no arrest because the Gurugram police has only taken Suomoto action in terms of
11:24an FIR and it's an FIR against unknown personnel.
11:28So, Kalyan Baisla, who was behind the wheels of that car, still is at large with no arrest until and
11:36unless a proper investigation actually takes place.
11:38Is the victim going to now lodge a police complaint?
11:42Well, that is what she has said. She has claimed that she will consent her arrest and she will be
11:46filing an FIR in this entire matter and the reason for no arrest in this case at this point in
11:50time because the sections that have been imposed is of rash and negligent driving and rash and negligent driving does
11:56not warrant an immediate arrest and hence this person at this point in time has not been arrested.
12:00What Gurugram police is telling us is that they are waiting for the complaint to come out and once in
12:04that complaint, if the victim says that this person was harassing her, was tailing her,
12:08then serious sections of women harassment would be added against the said person and if at all the victim herself
12:15comes ahead and says that this entire incident happened intentionally,
12:19then attempt to murder sections would also be added in this entire affair which means that immediate arrest is something
12:23that would be necessary at this point in time.
12:25By the virtue of the video that is already out in public domain and with the Gurugram police, why cannot
12:31an attempt to murder be added because it can clearly be seen in multiple clips of that video where the
12:37car and the person behind the wheel,
12:39in this case Kalyan Baisla is constantly asking her to stop, she doesn't stop and you can clearly see him
12:47edge into the bike and hit the bike.
12:50Oh well definitely and it has almost been more than 24 hours, almost 36 hours since the time the incident
12:55has happened and it took Gurugram police almost 24 hours to actually go ahead and register the first FIR in
13:01this entire matter.
13:01This video has been viral on social media since late last night itself. If at all the Gurugram police had
13:07wanted, they could have easily registered an FIRE and at least taken the accused in their custody and have questioned
13:12him regarding what has happened.
13:13This morning I spoke to the original owner of the car as well and he said that he has not
13:18been contacted by Gurugram police in any way or any manner.
13:21So the Gurugram police was probably waiting for the media to go ahead and raise this issue up before resisting
13:27an FIRE.
13:27That is something that seems very, very clear at this point and as you rightly mentioned, if not an arrest,
13:33at least a detention could happen till the time the victim goes ahead and files an official FIRE in this
13:39entire matter.
13:40But that is something that has still not happened. What Gurugram police told us is that they have identified the
13:44accused and they will arrest him very soon.
13:47But even though the said person has now come on camera and has accepted the fact that he was the
13:54person who was driving the vehicle, he has still not been taken into custody by the Gurugram police.
13:59What is the reason behind it? That is something that has been left to the imagination because there is no
14:04logic. There is absolutely no logic that could define this.
14:08Thank you, Anshul, for joining us because that's the sad part. How much can be left to the imagination when
14:12everything is out in the open in the form of documentary evidence with this video?
14:18I want to quickly cut across to our panelists because viewers, you know, is it road rage? Of course. Is
14:23it lawlessness? Of course.
14:26Is it somewhere down the line entitlement? Of course. But it's also got to do with unbridled male ego that
14:33cannot handle rejection.
14:35One can go all the way back to the Manu Sharma case where Jessica Lal was shot because somebody pulled
14:42the trigger when a woman refused to serve him a drink.
14:45In this case, clearly, you could see the anger where the car edged into a bike because constantly this man
14:51was trying to get her to stop and she did not stop.
14:54The anger was that much that the person behind the wheel chose to actually hit her bike, which seemingly is
15:03attempt to murder if you actually corroborate and piece together the various video clips that are out in public domain.
15:10I want to quickly cut across right now to our panelists this evening. Joining me, Mr. Yashaw Ardhan Azad, former
15:15IPS Special Director, Intelligence Bureau, Mr. Dilip Cherian, founder, Perfect Relations, Gaurav Bakshi, Citizens Right Activist and founder, Help Desk.
15:24We'll also be joined shortly by Mr. Cyrus Brocha, Indian comedian.
15:28I want to begin with Mr. Azad. Mr. Azad, you know, what one can't understand, and maybe you can break
15:34it down for our viewers, why is it that no arrest or detention has taken place?
15:38One can understand that, yes, the victim in question hasn't filed an FIR, but there's enough video documentation that can
15:47enable the police that has filed an FIR against unknown person to actually file serious counts of attempt to murder.
15:55What's stopping the Gurugram police to take tangible action, sir?
16:00Well, there are a lot of things which is very, very good.
16:09There's a problem with your audio, sir. There is a clear problem with your audio. We're going to try and
16:15just rectify that. Can we just rectify Mr. Azad's audio?
16:18And we're going to come right back to him. And I want to bring in Mr. Dilip Cherian into this
16:22conversation.
16:22Because, Mr. Cherian, as much this is about entitlement, about road rage, it's more about rejection and a bruised ego.
16:29You know, one can go back to the Jessica Lal murder case and nothing quite has changed.
16:33Indian men, maybe not just Indian, but the sheer fact of facing rejection bruises an ego to an extent where
16:40you will do what it takes to even scores.
16:45Entitlement, I think, is the big aspect of this. And ego, of course. But also, it is mysterious to me
16:53why 24 or plus hours after the accident,
16:57the victim hasn't chosen through her parents, through her brother, to actually file an FIRE.
17:04That is a missing element in this whole thing.
17:08The fact that this is a guy who's actually out to make a point and to actually physically harm her
17:15is visible from the video evidence that's already been played out.
17:20Now, I think that the Gurugram police is not covering itself in glory by waiting for, you know, something to
17:29happen before they do this or even waiting for media pressure, which is anyway mounted.
17:34The fact is that we need to see two things.
17:38One, that the streets of the NCR region are full of unchecked bullies who need to be caught and immediately
17:47incarcerated.
17:48And the second thing is that the role that these cameras are playing, which is immensely positive, because without these
17:56cameras,
17:57you wouldn't have had the opportunity to actually see this line.
18:01I think this kind of thing needs to be actioned immediately.
18:05And we must have more of these cases brought to Prushan.
18:11You know, I want to bring in Gaurav Bakshi into this conversation, because Gaurav Bakshi,
18:15you know, one can look at and question that why is it Mr.
18:18Cherian raised the point that the woman in question who was hit by this car,
18:23all her family members raised an F.I.R. in this, you know, regard.
18:27Though she says that today, this evening, she will file an F.I.R.
18:31But why should the onus be on the victim here?
18:33Because clearly, you know, at one level, there is a sense of intimidation as well,
18:38that you might think that the people behind the car are, you know, the one behind the wheel
18:43is powerful to an extent that can harm you.
18:46The family could be intimidated.
18:48The police needs to step in.
18:52Priti, absolutely.
18:52So this point that you've just made, the fear of consequences is what exists in the
18:59minds of the average citizen, particularly more so in women, because unfortunately, largely
19:03the acts of intimidation, assault, etc. is usually targeted towards the weaker sex.
19:09So in that case, there could be the element of fear which has not allowed them to come
19:14forward to file the police complaint.
19:16After they file the complaint is when the police can register the F.I.R.
19:19So the F.I.R. is the police's onus, not the complainants.
19:22But as you pointed out, it's the police's job to have, since they have Suomoto registered
19:28the F.I.R., they could have automatically put the correct sections to allow for a harsher
19:34step being taken by bringing him into custody and questioning him, to set an example.
19:39Now, I want to just add a couple more points here.
19:42This is not an individual accident issue.
19:44This is conversion and use of a vehicle towards the attempt of physical intimidation and assault
19:52towards somebody else.
19:54It's not a simple traffic rule violation.
19:57So we need to ensure that a harsher step is taken.
20:00Now, in terms of context, let's all understand, road crashes, as per MOT, the Ministry of Road
20:06Transport and Highways, 4,80,000 road crashes have taken place in India in the year 2023.
20:12That's a very high number.
20:14That's 1,300 crashes per day.
20:16And this results in over 1,72,000 deaths in that year.
20:21So we're talking about a huge problem across India and an issue that causes a very large
20:30number of deaths that needs to be addressed.
20:32So coming back to the issue, one of the issues of ensuring justice and where we lack is detection,
20:40surety of detection, surety of enforcement and surety of punishment.
20:45This is also what emboldens and accuse, in this case, possibly this person, to be arrogant,
20:51brash and know that he will get away.
20:53So we need to fix these issues by bringing in proactive detection through AI technology,
20:59which can be easily done.
21:00Why are we waiting for the woman's video to become viral?
21:03Why do we not have technology in place that detects it in advance and the police acts immediately
21:08on in real time?
21:09We are today well-equipped to do that.
21:12So we need to bring in this proactive detection, action by the police and certainty of punishment
21:18and enforcement.
21:20You know, it's just because it's accidents happen, unfortunately, on the roads.
21:25And but this is not really an accident.
21:28This as much as road rage.
21:30And this is also a man who's getting back at a woman because she didn't stop when he asked
21:34her to.
21:35I want to bring in.
21:35I think if we have Mr. Razad back into this conversation, I want to pull him in again.
21:39Mr. Razad, once again, you know, what what one can't understand is the lack of cohesive
21:45action by the Guru Gram police.
21:47Yes, there is no official FIR from the victim or the family.
21:50She says she's going to file one this evening.
21:52There is enough documentary evidence to prove that this was more than just, you know, an accident.
22:00And if the police has taken Suomoto cognizance and filed an FIR against unknown persons, what
22:05stops them from detaining the man in question?
22:08Well, you know, the most important thing, Kriti, in this case is that this is an open, brazen
22:14gunagardi on the streets of Gurgaon, whichever place it is, Parvalla, whichever place.
22:20And this cannot go…
22:22This was golf course road, sir.
22:24Yeah, this is on the golf course road.
22:26That's the main road of Guru Gram.
22:28And with the evidence, you know, primary evidence which you have shown, it should have been registered
22:34at least as a culpable homicide, not amounting to murder straight away.
22:39The second thing is that the person should have been called for questioning.
22:43The third point is, it's true that the woman might be taking, shoring up her defenses first,
22:50talking to the lawyers.
22:51And maybe the person involved has got some kind of an influence.
22:55And this is extremely important.
22:57But to keep the confidence of the people, it was extremely important for the police for
23:03an important case like this to come out to the press and say exactly what they are doing.
23:08One thing could be that they are checking the authenticity of the evidence, that is the electronic
23:16evidence which they have, you know, joining up all the, you know, things on the CCTV camera,
23:22so they can have a kind of a sequence.
23:24But I totally agree with you that in such cases, it should be a zero tolerance case because
23:32it involves a woman.
23:34It's not only, it's not only a road rage.
23:37I think it's much, much beyond road rage.
23:40It is something which is, which is an attack against a woman.
23:43It is open Gurdagardi on the streets of Gurgaon and therefore the strictest action must be
23:50taken against this man who's talking so openly on the TV.
23:54I mean, I'm surprised that he has still not been brought in for question.
23:58I understand.
24:00That's the question, Mr. Razad.
24:01You know, I think for every viewer who's watching this broadcast is only asking one question.
24:06Why is it that the Gurugram police has not taken any action against this man yet?
24:10That the police commissioner of Gurgaon should be held to account.
24:15He should be asked for the civil society.
24:17He should be asked by the press.
24:19He should be asked by the TV.
24:20What exactly has happened in the last 24 hours?
24:24And it one thing is very, very true, Preeti.
24:26What happens is the case is registered.
24:28But if the victim or the woman is harassed thereafter, you will see what happened to this case later.
24:35And therefore, it's extremely important to pursue this, not only by the police, but also by the civil society to
24:41protect this woman.
24:43You know, fair point.
24:44I just want to take in final comments.
24:45And I want to bring in Mr. Dilip Chairwin back into this conversation.
24:48I know, Gaurav, you want to pipe in.
24:49But, Mr. Chairwin, to pull you back into this conversation, you know, the fact is, a lot of, you know,
24:54the assumption is, because there is this unbridled ego on how dare you not stop, it's only about women.
25:00Not really.
25:01You know, there could be a man also at the back of, you know, of where this woman was.
25:05But the fact is, it just goes unchecked.
25:08The sheer fact that it has been now nearly 24 hours and yet absolutely no action that has been taken
25:14by the Gurugram police.
25:16You know, Preeti, this is the reason why we need to focus on stories like this.
25:21Why we need to focus on incidents like this.
25:25It is really a question of the safety of half our population.
25:31If they are going to be terrorized in this manner by Gundagardi, as Mr. Azad says, then we need to
25:38find that the police are acting double fast.
25:42You know, don't forget that Golf Coast Road has enough cameras.
25:47It need not have waited for so long.
25:49And the more you wait, the more the chances that people will find all kinds of excuses.
25:55You already see one trotted out saying that the car is owned by an army person who has lent the
26:01car, etc.
26:02None of these are at all, you know, issues which are germane.
26:08This is a bully, Gundagardi and actually an attempt to murder.
26:14Fair point.
26:16Gaurav, you wanted to come in quickly.
26:17Final points.
26:18You know, Preeti, what's very upsetting when I watch this video is, one, you could clearly see him coming from
26:24behind, crossing over into the lane of the motorcycle where the lady was driving, and deliberately coming into the vehicle.
26:30It's very clear it was deliberate.
26:32There's no two ways about this.
26:33Secondly, on camera, the man goes ahead and tries to justify his action and, in fact, justifies it by blaming
26:40the lady for erratic driving.
26:42It's unbelievable how brash, arrogant this man is.
26:45So, he's not doing himself a favor by claiming all this nonsense on television.
26:49I think this is a clear case of strict action must be taken against him.
26:54But, you know, but Gaurav, fair point, and I want to bring in Mr. Razad in on this, because he's
26:59not doing himself any favors, but nor is the Gurugram police by not taking any action at all.
27:03And, you know, for all our viewers who are watching this, the fact is, there is video documentation of what
27:10really happened.
27:11Imagine the number of cases where exactly the same thing or worse happens while there is no video documentation of
27:18it.
27:18I want to bring in Mr. Razad back into this conversation.
27:21Mr. Razad, what really needs to be done by the letter of law is to be followed, even though the
27:28victim in question does not lodge an FYR?
27:31Because she said she will this evening.
27:33It hasn't happened till now.
27:36If, as I have been saying for years and years, Preeti, on your channel also, give the police the operational
27:44autonomy.
27:46Tell Gurugram police commissioner you are there for three years.
27:49Nothing will happen to you.
27:51And, immediately, the police will become accountable.
27:55Otherwise, the police will remain accountable to the political bosses.
27:59That is the bigger issue.
28:02And I have mentioned in my latest book, also, Policing the Republic.
28:06Clearly, this is the issue.
28:09I thank all three of you for joining us.
28:11Thank you, sir.
28:12And, you know, we're going to keep coming back onto the story, especially ask the question on what is the
28:17Gurugram police doing, because the onus is not on the victim.
28:22Thankfully, and fortunately, in this case, there is enough visual documentation to prove that this was nothing short of attempt
28:29to murder.
28:30I'm joined right now.
28:30I think we finally have him later.
28:32Cyrus Brocha is with us.
28:36Cyrus, thank you for joining us.
28:38It's really, you know, not a laughing matter, and I know you concur with that thought.
28:43But I'm sure you've seen the video that is coming in from Gurgaon.
28:46Very clear.
28:47There are cameras.
28:48There's video evidence to suggest that this man in question, apparently there were four men in that car, on their
28:56own, of their own volition, ram into the bike that you can see coming in from behind.
29:01There is a point to prove.
29:03As much as this is about road rage, this is also about entitlement and a bruised male ego, I guess.
29:10Preeti Farsi, thank you for coming to me.
29:12I'm a double PhD in psychology.
29:15I gave the degree to myself, both of them.
29:18And I must quickly, not to make light of this matter, I must just, for me, the whole thing is
29:23to do with male ego.
29:24And it's to do, if you go back to Manu Sharma or any of the other cases, it's all to
29:28do with rejection.
29:29Indian males are just not trained to accept rejection because we think the sun shines out of our, you know
29:34what, from the time we are born, the way we are treated.
29:36And this has not changed over generations, sadly.
29:38And I think that's the crux of the matter.
29:41Because what happened, basically, is he tried to interact.
29:44And the moment the interaction didn't go his way, he decided to behave like a spoiled boy and, you know,
29:49misbehave.
29:49It's all got to do with the ego.
29:51So it will go back to parenting, for me, across the country and across classes of society and all that.
29:55It's just the Indian male needs to accept rejection and understand that there's lots more things involved between males and
30:04females
30:05and just whatever he says and whatever he thinks should happen.
30:08You know, the dynamic is not that simple.
30:11But, Cyrus, you know, and I'm glad you're saying it and you're verbalizing it
30:17because most people who are watching this broadcast today are looking at it and saying this is road rage.
30:21No, this is not really road rage.
30:23This is also about what you speak of so clearly, a fragile male ego refusing to take rejection
30:29and it's not the first time it's happened.
30:30So do you think that this is, at least in this case, it's a gender issue and not so much
30:36as entitlement
30:36that I can ram into your car just because you refuse to stop?
30:43No, entitlement all follows.
30:44See, the fact that he was, the road rage follows.
30:47But it all comes with the male ego.
30:48Now, if he didn't have that fake male ego, which is this horrible, horrible thing, causes war and conflicts,
30:54everything is because of male ego.
30:55I've been studying this a lot.
30:56I have a lot of free time right now, so that's all I do.
31:00I'm very convinced about that.
31:01The fundamental issue is the male ego.
31:03Then it translates into all the things that, you know, that we're talking about right now,
31:07particularly specifically to this case, this young girl called Sia being on a bike,
31:11a guy comes, blah, blah, blah, road rage, if you want to use that term.
31:14But for me, it's his ego.
31:15The moment he got a sort of rejection, he tried to interact with her and she seemed to have,
31:19you know, said, please leave me alone.
31:20From there, he got upset because he wanted her to stop.
31:24We could see that in just a gesture.
31:25You don't have a conversation.
31:26You could see that was what was happening.
31:29And after that, he went into a rage.
31:31Why did he throw a tantrum?
31:32The same thing that happens in childhood when a guy was playing cricket with the other guys
31:36and, you know, takes the stumps and bats and goes back because you've given him out.
31:40It's just a male ego thing, which beyond a point, I don't understand how it's reached this.
31:45It's ridiculously Olympian-sized male egos around the country.
31:49And again, to go back to Manu Sharma, that's a celebrated case, so we know it.
31:53But there are many cases like this, where basically, out of a sense of rejection, the male misbegins completely.
32:00Saras, do you think it's endemic to our country?
32:02Is this endemic to India?
32:04The kind of behavior that you see where vis-a-vis, maybe not women,
32:08but especially how easy it is to bruise the male ego in this country?
32:14Well, it might be more than India, but we're talking about, yeah,
32:17it's to do with us as parents or the generation before, the one before that.
32:22You've got to, men have to realize how to accept defeat,
32:25how to accept that things won't go their way,
32:27how to accept that the entitlement, as you said, the life is not made just for them,
32:32the other people in the frame.
32:33Because it's always the same thing.
32:35However it translates, whether it's on the road or in a bar or in a restaurant or wherever,
32:40in the workplace, it always translates badly because it can't take the rejection.
32:45You have to learn to accept rejection and learn the art of conversation.
32:48If you want to talk to people or, you know, have a relationship
32:51or try to get to know someone better, male, female, or what have you,
32:56I think maybe if I was given more power in the country,
32:58I could maybe put up some tuitions or classes and help some struggling males.
33:02But I do believe it's to do with ego, more than anything else.
33:06So the context is social, the context is cultural, Cyrus, as per you.
33:10But it's not that we don't have laws.
33:13It's not about implementation of laws.
33:15So you view this as a cultural, social context,
33:18and that is why we are where we are?
33:22Okay, laws are going to punish you and stop you doing something.
33:24So that's like the last resort.
33:26Well before that, when a child is, a young Indian male is a child,
33:30he has to understand that he can't have his way all the time, one,
33:34that everything is not about him, that, and I'm saying this as a male
33:37because I see these qualities in me and people have pointed them out
33:40growing up, et cetera, et cetera.
33:41So it's not like, again, it's not that because you're in Gurgaon
33:44and maybe I'm in Chennai, I don't agree that it's only in the North
33:48that it's happening.
33:49This male ego thing is out of control.
33:52And it's got to do with those early years.
33:54Because this idiot driving the car, I mean, how could he do that?
33:58It's like murder.
33:59How can you just ran your car into the bike
34:01because the girl showed no interest in you?
34:04Just look at it.
34:05I mean, there should be no sense of, he shouldn't get a defense in this case.
34:09There is no defense.
34:12No, there is no defense.
34:13But right now, you know, strangely, the Gurugram police has chosen
34:16not to even detain him, leave alone an arrest.
34:19And the charges, Suomoto at that, against him are nothing,
34:23reckless driving is the most severe of charges.
34:26So it's bizarre in that context.
34:27But I'll come to that later.
34:29You know, you say it's a cultural context, it's a parenting issue,
34:32it's a social context.
34:33But the fact is, Cyrus, how long do women of this country put up
34:37with brazen, what you speak of, the male ego?
34:41For how long will this continue?
34:43Because there has to be some solution to this.
34:45Do you make examples of these people?
34:49Before culture, it's sociological.
34:51And it's to do with the families and family dynamic.
34:54And yes, not just women.
34:55Because you can take it out on other men also.
34:57Of course, women get the worst of it.
34:59Because the guy turns out to be a bully.
35:01Because we don't know we become bullies, right?
35:02Suddenly we are bullies.
35:03They become bigger bullies.
35:05Then we have powers who become huge bullies.
35:07Because we have the ability to not bully on a mass scale.
35:10And then you have this kind of thing that happens.
35:12Why?
35:13Why couldn't he just, you know,
35:14if he tried to interact with someone on the road,
35:16which is a stupid thing to do,
35:18and the woman rejects him,
35:19why can't he just keep driving?
35:20Why is he so hurt that he has to go and do this?
35:23And how dare he?
35:24How dare he ran the car into the...
35:26I mean, I have a daughter that age.
35:27I mean, it's ridiculous.
35:28How dare he do that?
35:30So why does he do that?
35:31We have to go back to the fundamental unit of family
35:33and how it all starts.
35:34And it's not just in the family,
35:36the grandmothers, the grandfathers, the fathers,
35:38everybody, the male child is...
35:39We've got to change the way we look at this completely.
35:42I've been saying,
35:43maybe no male children for some time,
35:45just girls and dogs.
35:46We'll be good.
35:47And then after five years, we start again.
35:49No, but what you speak of, Cyrus,
35:52will take about three or four generations
35:54to reach fruition,
35:56where at least in the social-cultural context,
35:58until then,
35:59how do you fill that gap
36:01where at least you put the fear of law
36:03in men like Kalyan Baisla?
36:08That follows now,
36:10but the horse has sort of bolted
36:11when you start doing that, right?
36:13Because now he's already done what he's done.
36:15So to make an example of him,
36:16you have to try and catch him and punish him.
36:18He has to be punished.
36:19I mean, she could have died.
36:20This is an attempt to murder.
36:21I mean, no less.
36:23It's just ridiculous.
36:24That all has to be done.
36:25We can't stop that.
36:26But like you mentioned,
36:28we have to go back.
36:29It'll take a couple of generations.
36:30We have to go back and start again.
36:32And this time realize
36:33there's parity between male and female,
36:35absolute parity, nothing.
36:36No one's up, no one's down.
36:37This country, you know,
36:38just has never understood egalitarianism.
36:40That's why you use words like
36:42Saab, Sir, Mame, Saab, Madam.
36:44It's too much of that.
36:45You know, we need to just understand
36:46that people are on a level playing field.
36:48And that, you know,
36:50sometimes you get rejected,
36:51sometimes you lose,
36:52sometimes you don't get your way,
36:53sometimes you have bad luck.
36:54You just have to accept it,
36:55you know, and get on with life
36:56and not cry like a baby,
36:58throw tantrums
36:58and try to murder someone on the highway.
37:00I mean, how can you defend this guy?
37:02I mean, it's just ridiculous.
37:03And on top of that,
37:04saying that he's drunk,
37:05there's no point saying he's drunk.
37:06That doesn't even come...
37:07In my mind,
37:07that's almost like giving you an excuse.
37:10Oh, he was not, you know,
37:11in his mental capacity,
37:12he was not there.
37:13No, no, no, no, no.
37:14This is...
37:15Let's hope he's caught.
37:17Firstly, I'm trying to follow the case,
37:18but let's still catch him, right?
37:21No, well, you know,
37:22he's busy giving interviews.
37:24Kalyan Baisla,
37:25the man behind the wheel,
37:26there were at least three others,
37:27is what we know,
37:28is busy giving interviews
37:29because till now,
37:30the FIR against him
37:32is from unknown persons,
37:33which was filed by
37:34the Gurugram police,
37:36Suomoto,
37:36because the victim in this case
37:37could be because she is fearful
37:40that the person behind the wheel
37:41has influenced
37:42or is intimidated,
37:44hasn't yet filed an FIR.
37:45She says she's going to file an FIR,
37:47but she hasn't yet filed an FIR.
37:49And the Gurugram police, Cyrus,
37:51has taken little action,
37:53but a very weak FIR
37:55against unknown personnel.
37:57The man in question,
37:58behind the wheel,
37:59Kalyan,
38:00is busy giving interviews
38:02and blaming the victim.
38:06Right, right.
38:07Well, let's just hope,
38:08I mean, a major example
38:09is set here
38:10because, I mean,
38:11can you imagine a girl
38:11goes for a ride on a motorbike
38:12and then you try to kill her
38:13for no fault of hers.
38:15I mean, it's just ridiculous.
38:17Well, thank you, Cyrus,
38:18for joining us.
38:19And thank you there
38:20for saying it for what it is
38:22because it is road rage,
38:24but it's not just road rage.
38:25It is fueled
38:26by a bruised male ego
38:28who wanted to teach this girl
38:30a lesson on a bike
38:32because she didn't stop
38:33when he asked her to stop.
38:34And we on India Today
38:36are going to closely
38:36be following this case,
38:38especially asking questions
38:39to the Gurugram police
38:41on why is it
38:42that A, the FIR
38:43is as weak as it is,
38:45even though there is
38:46visual documentation
38:46of exactly what happened,
38:48and how is it
38:49that Kalyan Baisla
38:51is outside,
38:53busy giving interviews,
38:54victim shaming,
38:55and if not arrested,
38:57detained.
38:58And why is it
38:58that till now
38:59an attempt to murder charge
39:01hasn't been slapped
39:02against this man?
39:04With that,
39:04I want to quickly
39:05cut across to the
39:06latest news break
39:06that is coming in
39:07Rajasthan Hussein
39:08local body polls,
39:09and we'll quickly
39:10get our viewers
39:11up to speed
39:11with the results there.
39:15All right,
39:15so word coming in
39:16where local body polls
39:17in Rajasthan are concerned.
39:18BJP is leading
39:19in the Rajasthan
39:20local body polls,
39:22winning over 4,000
39:23wards in Rajasthan.
39:24Congress is close
39:25at about 3,456 wards.
39:28Others have won
39:292,438 wards.
39:32The counting of votes
39:32for elections
39:33to 309 urban
39:35local bodies
39:36in Rajasthan.
39:37The elections
39:38were held in two phases,
39:39September 9th,
39:40September 11th,
39:41covering 10 municipalities,
39:4351 municipal councils,
39:45and 248 municipalities.
39:47Let me break
39:47the results down.
39:48Even though the BJP
39:50is ahead
39:51and has won
39:524,000 wards
39:53in Rajasthan,
39:54the Congress
39:54is not far behind,
39:553,456.
39:57And if you micro-dive
39:58into the data,
40:002,438 wards
40:02have been won
40:02by others.
40:03And like I pointed out,
40:04if you micro-dive
40:05into the data,
40:06it seems that the Congress
40:07has seemingly done well
40:09in urban pockets
40:09that it was rather weak in.
40:11So will the BJP
40:13celebrate?
40:13Well,
40:14this could be
40:16a word of caution
40:17coming in for the BJP.
40:18For the Congress,
40:19no,
40:20they don't really
40:20can't celebrate
40:21because they're still behind,
40:22but they seemingly
40:24are close to the BJP
40:26in the state
40:27of Rajasthan.
40:28But these are
40:28local body polls.
40:30I want to quickly
40:30get in a word
40:31from my colleague
40:32Sharath,
40:33who's joining us
40:33for more.
40:34Sharath,
40:36what do you think
40:39about the BJP
40:40is ahead,
40:40but Congress
40:42is not too late.
40:44And the strongholds
40:45of BJP,
40:46Congress
40:46has increased
40:47in that strongholds.
40:47and the
41:17foreign
41:47ğin
41:56थे लिए तो पूर्जिय अगम अभ आप पान्च में जय में से केवल एक में आप अपश्पेश्टूप से सरकार बना
42:15पाए
43:10So there you have it.
43:11Well, it does seem, even though the Congress might say that they've done well in certain BJP pockets,
43:16but net-net, if the Congress wanted to prove a point with Rajasthan, it's failed to do so.
43:22The BJP has done phenomenally well in Rajasthan local body polls.
43:27We'll continue to get our viewers the very latest coming in on that.
43:31But let's now quickly shift focus to the other developing political story that we're tracking very closely,
43:37and that is the Amadmi Party's alliance with the Goa Forward Party.
43:41Well, that was announced yesterday as a pre-poll alliance called Goa First for the 2027 Assembly elections,
43:48saying, which Arwan Kejriwal said, that a non-BJP, non-Congress alternative to the voters has been given,
43:56making the announcement, Amadmi Party National Convener, Mr. Kejriwal said,
44:00the ruling BJP would not secure a majority in the upcoming elections and that the Goa First Alliance would form
44:07the next government,
44:07describing the alliance as credible and honest, saying it will be loyal to the people of Goa.
44:13Arwan Kejriwal also said both parties were equal partners in the alliance,
44:16but the Congress has hit back, saying Arwan Kejriwal's alternative pitch is an old script that Goans have rejected time
44:23in and time again.
44:24Arwan Kejriwal also said something which actually bothered the Congress a fair bit.
44:30and understandably so, because he said those who are disgruntled by the BJP will never vote the Congress.
44:36They should vote us.
44:37The Congress has gotten back, hit back at the Amadmi Party,
44:41saying that Arwan Kejriwal, on his own, has made it clear that he is the Team B of the BJP.
44:49Here's more.
44:52Why do you need to create this alliance?
44:57Why do you need to create this alliance?
44:58That's why it's necessary to create this alliance,
44:59because in the past few years, the people of Goa are watching.
45:06They don't have an option, or they vote for the Congress, or they vote for the BJP to the BJP.
45:14And in both parties, there is a problem running.
45:19In 2017, people were disappointed by the BJP, they voted for the Congress.
45:25And Congress made the BJP to the BJP to the BJP to the BJP to the BJP to the BJP.
45:31In 2022, people voted for the BJP to the BJP to the BJP.
45:36But then Congress provided the BJP numbers and made the BJP to the BJP to the BJP.
45:41So, two times, people have been disappointed.
45:45Now, the third time, people are not in the mood of the BJP to the BJP.
45:49People need an option.
45:51So, on the one hand, Congress is being disappointed.
45:56People vote for the BJP to the BJP to the BJP.
45:59And Congress has made the BJP to the BJP to the BJP.
46:04We have clear meaning that Congress has supported the BJP to the BJP to the BJP to the BJP.
46:14And that is an alternative vision that we will go to the BJP to the BJP.
46:20And this alternative vision that the BJP will support the BJP to the BJP.
46:41The BJP to the BJP to the BJP to the BJP to the BJP to the BJP to the BJP
46:47to the BJP to the BJP.
