00:30Maintaining conditioning, what my conditioning, how it's looking, how it's feeling, feeling great, and overall, how's my endurance, training, now
00:46that I've dropped this weight.
00:47And it's been phenomenal, and I haven't been, I was 235 this morning, and I haven't been 235 since my
00:57senior year in high school.
01:00And then the fall, my freshman camp, going into the University of Miami, I weighed 238.
01:09Defensive lineman back then, by the way.
01:11I was light in the ass, as we say.
01:16But I haven't been this light since then, and I really feel phenomenal.
01:23Metabolic health, inflammation, brain health, which I need, have all been really phenomenal.
01:36Cardiovascular, et cetera, et cetera.
01:38So, anyway, a lot of questions about how and why I lost the weight.
01:44Lost the weight because I was, I stepped on the set of Smashing Machine at 282 pounds, approximately.
01:52And I had to maintain that for three and a half months, and that's hard to maintain because I gained
01:56almost, almost 30 pounds of muscle.
02:04Little bit of fat in there, too, as well.
02:06Gotta have some fat.
02:08I figured I'd take the fat between my ears and put it in other places.
02:12But, uh, I gained about 30 pounds, and, you know, that, and I did that over the course of about
02:20six to seven months.
02:21I wanted to give myself time.
02:23And, uh, and after Smashing Machine, I had to go directly into filming live-action Moana.
02:29I had two weeks, three weeks, I think.
02:33And, uh, you know, any other scenario, I would have dropped the weight, uh, because it's a lot of weight
02:38to carry on your joints, on your system.
02:40It's hard.
02:40But, and, and plus I was injured on the Smashing Machine.
02:45I had injured my calf and my elbow, and, uh, and, um, so I, so I had to go right
02:52into, uh, live-action Moana and shoot that.
02:56And I had to maintain that weight because Maui, as you guys know, is, he's a, he's a big, chunky,
03:03hunky guy.
03:06Uh, and, and I couldn't lose weight because I only had three weeks, so I had to maintain it because
03:13I got somewhat, first, I got a somewhat of an angular face.
03:16And I got a big-ass head, circumference-wise.
03:21More brain, they say, when you have a big head.
03:24Well, at least I say that.
03:25Um, so I had to maintain that.
03:28And then, so I had to carry that weight for another three and a half to four months.
03:32And so it was about eight, eight and a half months total of carrying, you know, a lot of weight.
03:39And it took its toll.
03:40So then when I was wrapped with that, I said, okay, now I'm going to go on a journey.
03:44And I knew that I was, I had to prepare for my next film, this one, with Benny Safdie.
03:49It's called Lizard Music, um, where I play, um, an older gentleman.
03:55And I, I had to lose about 50 pounds.
03:58So I took my time.
04:00I took about a year to drop the weight and trial and error and trial and error.
04:05And I wanted to do it.
04:06I've worked with phenomenal coaches that I still work with.
04:09Dave Renzi, Honey Rombad, um, a few Olympic coaches and a few pro athletes.
04:19But I wanted to do this one on my own.
04:21And I really wanted to create an environment for myself where it wasn't just, hey, tell me what to do.
04:28And I'm going to run that play.
04:30I've operated like that for a very long time.
04:32And there's nothing wrong with that.
04:33And it served me.
04:34But I figured since I had about a year and a half, uh, to prepare for this current role with
04:42Benny Safdie, I wanted to do it myself.
04:44And so I went through a lot of trial and error.
04:47Wound up dropping 50 pounds over the course of a year.
04:50And, but in the process of that, God, I learned so much.
04:55It was like a masterclass.
04:57You know, and I thought I had pretty decent knowledge about the body and health and fitness and training and
05:01conditioning and diet and things like that.
05:03And, um, and metabolic health and brain health and blood work and all that stuff.
05:11But I, um, God, it was like a masterclass, uh, in the learning.
05:16And I'm glad I did that because I really took my time and I wanted to drop the weight in
05:20a wise, strategic way.
05:22And so now at 235, um, I like maintaining this weight.
05:26I'll keep it here for a little bit.
05:28And maybe after this shoot, I'll, maybe I'll come up maybe five pounds or so.
05:34Uh, and, and so my training has been doing cardio fasted.
05:40Sometimes I'll train fasted.
05:42And I know it sounds crazy, but I like to train every day.
05:47Now, not super hard.
05:49I usually go about five, six days.
05:51Pretty good.
05:52We'll get it going.
05:54That, that, the, you know, the rubber will hit the road and we'll train intense.
05:59But I do like doing some sort of activity every day, um, for cardiovascular health.
06:04Just get the blood flowing toxins, et cetera.
06:07You don't get it all out.
06:08I just love it.
06:09It's therapy.
06:10You guys know that.
06:10All right.
06:12Um, a lot of questions to me posting my workouts.
06:15I trained chest yesterday and I took a video of me training chest.
06:19I will post it this weekend.
06:20Keep your questions coming.
06:21I appreciate it.
06:22And if you guys do have to lose weight for whatever the reason is, um, try to do it as
06:28best you can the smart way and not extreme.
06:30I don't like extreme anything.
06:33Um, you take a risk and a gamble.
06:35Uh, and we only got one life.
06:37So, all right.
06:39Time to eat.
06:41Happy Saturday.
06:42And, uh, enjoy your weekend and do some fun.
06:45drowning shit.
06:46Bye.
06:47Bye.
