Windräder in Norwegen sollen angeblich dazu führen, dass Rentiere mit Missbildungen geboren werden. Die Geschichte beruht auf einem echten Gerichtsurteil, das aber ganz anders ausging als behauptet.

00:03Hello and welcome to theCube!
00:06Christmas is still far, the reindeer are already back in the news.
00:11Today's fake story takes us to Norway,
00:14where a new conspiracy theory claims that wind turbines
00:17are causing the formed reindeer to be born.
00:20This conspiracy feeds into a bigger theory claiming that the turbines
00:24cause health problems related to their infrasound and low-frequency noise.
00:29For example, tinnitus, ear pain and vertigo, but also back pain and accelerated aging.
00:36However, a large body of scientific work says that there is not enough evidence
00:41linking living close to properly sighted wind turbines to adverse health effects.
00:47Other hypotheses suggest that stress could be connected to a general sense of concern
00:53about the turbines or even to unpleasant visual cues rather than their noise.
00:59In any case, there are no scientific reports of any deformed reindeer being born in Norway because of the turbines.
01:07It is true, however, that Norway ruled that the construction of dozens of wind turbines
01:13infringed the herding rights of the local Sami community.
01:17However, later the summits reached an agreement with the wind farm's owners and the Norwegian state,
01:23which will allow the turbines to remain operational in exchange for new grazing land,
01:29financial compensation and the right to veto any future extensions of the wind farm's land concession.
