00:06Well, Japan-based startup Arkellis may have developed a solution for exactly that.
00:11A mechanical exoskeleton meant to relieve leg and back pain in those who must stand for long periods of time.
00:16The tech was recently shown off at the online-only 2021 Consumer Electronics Show.
00:20They're calling it the Arkellis FX device, and it works by strapping onto a user's legs
00:25and dispersing body weight onto the shins and thighs,
00:27more or less allowing a wearer to sit while in a standing position.
00:31Something they say could be invaluable to those like factory workers and surgeons,
00:35who are required to stand for hours upon hours at a time.
00:38The whole device weighs in at only around 4.5 pounds,
00:41and the wearer is able to walk and move around freely while wearing it.
00:44But maybe the best part? It's entirely mechanical and requires no electricity to power it.
00:49The device's name comes from the Japanese word for walkable chair, and yeah, we can see why.
00:53The Arkellis FX is set to go on sale this month, retailing for around $5,000 per unit.
