00:13In India, New Delhi prepares to host the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12th and 13th,
00:18a meeting that aims to reinforce the bloc's strategic role in building a multi-power world order.
00:23Our correspondent, Junos On Air, is in the city and has all the information.
00:27Hello from New Delhi, capital of the Republic of India, where the city is preparing itself for the start of
00:36the 18th Summit of Heads of State of the BRICS Alliance under the presidency of the Republic of India.
00:44The summit will take place over the weekend on the 12th and 13th of September with the participation of Heads
00:52of State and Prime Ministers of the BRICS Alliance,
00:55the Extended BRICS Alliance, but it is the climax, the summit of a year-long work.
01:02This is something we have to emphasize.
01:04According to the numbers provided by the Indian presidency, there have been 350 different ministerial meetings over the year
01:13on different issues such as economy, finance, but also agriculture, education and even sports were topics that were discussed over
01:22the year.
01:23And today, on this Friday, we have the meeting of the business forum, BRICS business forum,
01:28where business people and also experts, representatives of the consulates, diplomatic personnel are discussing integration,
01:35as well as the women forum of BRICS, which is convening also today on this Friday before on Saturday,
01:43the summit starts with the Heads of State coming together.
01:48Some of them have already arrived today.
01:51For instance, the Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived today in Delhi on this Friday.
01:56Some of them will arrive tomorrow on Friday, on Saturday, excuse me, and then the summit will start officially.
02:06The main issues on the summit will be international economy, the situation of international economy,
02:13the situation around disrupting supply chains, protectionism, which is increasingly applied by above all the United States,
02:23but also some European countries, also the situation of security of trade routes as witnessed in the energy supply,
02:32for instance, in the Gulf of Hormuz, but also in the Black Sea and the Red Sea as well.
02:38So these topics will be discussed.
02:40But BRICS has an approach here which emphasizes the strengthening of multilateralism.
02:46That is, starting with the United Nations, the alliance proposes to stop unilateralism,
02:54to stop unilateral aggressions, and to return to make work the international organizations.
03:00In that context, the Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres, will also be present here at the summit,
03:08together with the Heads of States.
03:10And of course, in the terms of economy, another topic will be the South-South integration
03:19and providing alternatives to trade payments, alternatives to the U.S. dollar.
03:26There are different ideas that will be discussed on this summit,
03:29but their main idea is to rely more on national currencies or digital currencies and less on the U.S.
03:37dollar.
03:37There was the idea of the BRICS currency, which will maybe again come to the agenda here too,
03:46but that remains to be seen.
03:48There are different approaches.
03:49And a third thing is South-South integration in terms of development and integration, connectivity.
03:59And speaking of connectivity, one of the important issues here will be the relations between India and China.
04:07Two neighbors, the big giants of the Asian continent, who will come together here in the context of BRICS summit.
04:16And the BRICS summit may provide a leap for the bilateral relations between these two gigantic countries of the Asian
04:27continent.
04:28That remains to be seen.
04:29As I said, the summit will start on Saturday officially with the arrival of more heads of state.
04:36And we will cover it here from New Delhi for Telesur.
