00:00A large number of Republican lawmakers are not coming to the convention due to scheduling conflicts and also not wanting
00:07to be anywhere near him right now.
00:09They're very nervous about the midterms and rightly so. They're in serious danger of losing Big Lee.
00:15They're in danger of losing a Senate seat in Texas, of all places, where James Tallarico is leading a piece
00:26of human silly putty named Ken Paxton there.
00:29Tomorrow night, I'll be interviewing James Tallarico tomorrow night under unusual circumstances.
00:34You know, for a lot of years, for the whole 20 plus year of our show, in fact, I've been
00:39interviewing Americans who are running for office with no problem at all.
00:43Just like Letterman did, Leno did, Arsenio, etc., etc.
00:46I've interviewed a lot of political candidates, from Hillary Clinton to Ted Cruz to Donald Trump himself.
00:51I interviewed Donald Trump when he was running for president in 2015, and at that time, when he was the
00:57one sitting next to me, he seemed to have no problem with the idea of talk show hosts interviewing candidates.
01:02In fact, he was very eager to come back for another interview, which he did just before he became the
01:07nominee in 2016.
01:08But for some reason, and I can't seem to figure out what that reason is, something has changed.
01:15Now that he is president, his FCC has threatened me, threatened our show, threatened our network, ABC, our affiliates, our
01:23local stations.
01:23Based on simple, traditional editorial decisions, guest bookings, it would seem they don't like.
01:31And so, out of consideration for our local stations, especially our ABC affiliates in Texas, who would have to deal
01:38with this nonsense, my interview tomorrow with James Tallarico will not air on television.
01:42It will be posted on YouTube instead.
01:45It will not be on TV.
01:46So if you want to learn about a candidate for the Senate tomorrow, you will have to go to the
01:51Jimmy Kimmel Live YouTube channel, where you will see it in its entirety.
01:54And thank goodness we have that, because in the America we live in right now, that is the best that
01:59we can do until November, of course.
02:01Make sure you're registered to vote, by the way.
02:05Because that's the most important thing you can do.
