Hurricane Lowell has battered parts of Hawaii’s Kauai island with flooding, destructive winds and coastal surge, leaving much of the island without power.

00:23ripped apart. The storm also created extensive damage at a Sheraton resort where vehicles were
00:33displaced across a parking area and an oceanfront restaurant was damaged. The hotel's swimming pool
00:38was left filled with sand. The storm also caused extensive damage to Kauai's electricity network
00:44with Hawaii State authorities saying more than 36,000 customers were without power on Tuesday
00:48morning. The Kauai Emergency Management Agency urged residents and visitors to stay off the roads
00:54while damage assessments and power restoration work continues.
