00:00Chester Zoo in England has welcomed three baby rock hyraxes, two males and one female, in a rare breeding success.
00:08The six-week-old pups named Russ and Spad and Jackie were first shown to the public this week.
00:14They are tiny, weighing just 350 grams, and staff say visitors are delighted to spot them in the enclosure.
00:21Zoo staff say the species is not often bred in captivity, making the arrival of the pups especially significant.
00:29A lot of visitors seem to be very excited when they spot them for the first time, because you're looking
00:33in there, you're picturing this large mammal,
00:35and then when you see the rock hyrax, the adult, they go, oh, is that the baby?
00:40And then we're like, no, no, if you look just beside it, and then just beside it, out pops one
00:44of the little pups,
00:46and honestly, it's amazing just seeing the excitement from visitors when they get to see them from the first time.
00:52It just makes it really special.
00:53Rocks hyraxes may look small, but they have a surprising family link.
00:58They are related to elephants and manatees.
01:01Like elephants, their front ancestors keep growing throughout their lives.
