00:26She was joyful, peaceful, kind, gentle, patient. Lakin taught me to be the kind of person that
00:35I want to be. She was all the things that you would want in a daughter.
00:40The way you saw other people's faces light up whenever she was around, I know I had that light
00:48in my eyes looking at her. Lakin was my best friend. I didn't live a day without her.
00:55It was my honor and privilege to be a father figure. I love her like she's my own.
01:03That morning, she texted me and said, I'm getting ready to go for a run, and call me whenever
01:10you get a chance. I knew she would be running for a while, and we always talked until she
01:15got back home. We're about to hit some hills. So, send prayers for that.
01:22So, when she didn't answer, I called again, and she didn't answer. So I texted and I said,
01:33I'm getting nervous. I checked that she was stopped on the trail that she ran.
01:47And by then, it was too late.
01:52That morning, Lakin was viciously attacked, assaulted, beaten, brutalized, and horrifically
01:58murdered.
01:59And it's like your whole life leaves you. All the air. There's no air. You can't breathe.
02:09There's no way to describe what that feels like.
02:14I had to tell my parents that she was not here with us anymore.
02:21Considering the immense tragedy and sadness around the situation, it's just, it's hard
02:29to put into words.
02:31It still doesn't seem real. It just doesn't seem real. It's been two and a half years.

02:46Lakin was stolen from us by a savage illegal alien who was arrested while trespassing across
02:53Biden's open southern border.
02:56The policies of the Biden administration is why my sister got killed.
03:01I do believe that if President Trump were in office, this never would have happened.
03:05The Lakin-Riley Act will become the very first bill that I proudly sign into law as the 47th
03:13President of the United States.
03:15President Trump, even though he was not in office when this horrific incident happened,
03:22he reached out to us within days.
03:24Just to let us know that his heart was broken for us and that he would never forget Lakin.

04:05We created the Lakin Hope Foundation so that we could honor her and continue her legacy.

04:30I would give anything if I could pick the phone up again and just have one more.
04:39I just want to have one more phone conversation with her.
