05:12Hello everyone, I'm Shigeru Miyamoto.
05:15This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda series.
05:19We created the first game in 1986, which initially launched on the Famicom system in Japan.
05:28Since then, with evolutions in technology and gaming platforms,
05:32the series has featured 3D worlds, touch screen controls, motion controls, and more,
05:39as we've continued to test the boundaries of gameplay.
05:42And, in the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, we came full circle and evolved into open-air exploration.
05:49Throughout this time, we've continued to create the story of Link, Zelda, and Ganondorf that revolves around the Triforce.
05:59We've been able to make these stories for 40 years because of everyone who has played games in the series.
06:06Thank you all very much.
06:09Now, starting this year and going into next year, we'll have various initiatives as part of the Legend of Zelda
06:1640th anniversary.
06:18First, the film.
06:20Next year, on April 30th, we'll be releasing a live-action film in theaters worldwide.
06:53on April 30th.
06:58the title is the legend of Zelda once you see the film you'll understand why there isn't a
07:07subtitle this is an original film based on the many stories ideas and concepts of the series
07:17built up through the games for 40 years through the creative power and visual expertise of the
07:25talented production team it's become an artistic work worthy of the Legend of Zelda series both the
07:32development team from Nintendo and I are also involved of course when we talk about the Legend

08:48anniversary other initiatives and collaborations are also being planned please enjoy the Legend of Zelda
08:54Zelda series in different ways next let's hear from Koji Kondo about music hello everyone I'm Koji Kondo
09:15I've been involved with the music for the Legend of Zelda series since the very first game these games
09:22feature many colorful characters and captivating worlds they also feature musical instruments as well
09:31as stories that stay with you I've composed many songs to complement those elements the music in the
09:39first game was made using just three audio channels on the Famicom in recent games you can enjoy more
09:46bombastic music as well as subtle orchestral pieces all today's opening arrangement was specifically made for
09:58the Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary it's themed around wisdom power you encourage the virtues of the
10:07Triforce and includes a medley of various songs did you enjoy the tension gradually building if we'd like for many
10:16people to enjoy the music of the series live so we're planning to hold a series of concerts for the
10:22Legend of
10:23Zelda 40th anniversary from nostalgic tunes to modern melodies the concerts will feature a variety of music to mark the
10:3240th anniversary
10:36starting in Tokyo this coming January we'll be holding concerts across Japan
10:43they'll continue with a North American tour starting in February in Chicago the European tour starting in April in London
10:50and an Australian tour in May in Melbourne
10:54we're planning to hold concerts worldwide so we hope you'll look forward to those
11:01next I'd like to hand things over to Mr. Aonuma to talk about the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
11:11Hello everyone I'm Eiji Aonuma producer of the Legend of Zelda series
11:17I'm going to show you a game that was announced this past June for the Nintendo Switch 2 system the
11:23Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
11:27The original game launched in 1998 on the Nintendo 64 system
11:34It was the first 3D game in the Legend of Zelda series and you played as both child and adult
11:40Link during your adventure
11:44in addition it had a mechanic for targeting enemies and featured the Goron and Zora tribes among others
11:51among others
11:52it's a game that served as a defining moment for the series
11:59we've been developing a remake of this game for the series 40th anniversary creating a faithful interpretation using modern technologies
12:09This game has a different appeal from others like the Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
12:13where you're free to go wherever you want and do whatever you'd like
12:17So I'm going to play this game and show you what I mean
12:23This is the Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2
12:28Currently, I'm in a location called Kokiri Forest
12:32As you can see
12:34the visuals have been completely redone
12:38This is how our hero Link looks in the game
12:41We had many discussions about what visual style we should use for this game
12:44We decided that if Link's adventure took place in a world that has both been remade yet felt somewhat nostalgic
12:51he would look like this
12:52His outfit and equipment have also been redone
12:55We believe you can get a better sense of the textures of each material
12:59But we didn't just aim for realistic graphics
13:02We were particularly focused on reimagining them
13:05in a way that invokes nostalgia for the original game
13:09Here, you can rotate the camera around you to see even more of your surroundings
13:14Some might say
13:15Well, of course
13:16But the Nintendo 64 controller had only one control stick
13:20so it wasn't possible back then
13:24Okay
13:24Let's go a bit deeper in
13:31There's someone over there on the right
13:33Let's try talking to her
13:38It's Saria
13:39Link's childhood friend
13:41She's always thinking of Link
13:46We've added quite a lot of new dialogue for the characters
13:48so that their personalities shine even more
13:54Let's keep going
13:58Okay
14:00Here I'm going to demonstrate one of the newly added actions in this game
14:04Link can now jump at the press of a button
14:06Like this
14:09Even in places with gaps, you can jump
14:12And jump again to cross them
14:16Just like with the camera
14:18Jumping might seem obvious for those of you who have played recent games in the series
14:23But in the Nintendo 64 game
14:25You'd automatically jump when you got close to an edge
14:28So jumping by pressing a button is a major change
14:33By the way
14:35Splish
14:36We fell into the water
14:37But it's fine
14:38Link can swim
14:39You can also swim faster
14:41And if you spot something below
14:43Like you see here
14:44You can dive underwater
14:51Since we have a few rupees, let's stop by the store
14:57Hello
14:58There are all sorts of things for sale
15:00It's important to be prepared for your adventure
15:02So let's see
15:04I'll buy these Deku Nuts on the left
15:08They can stun enemies
15:09So if you find any
15:11I recommend collecting lots of them
15:18Okay
15:19Now that we have some Deku Nuts
15:21Let's equip them
15:25You can see them equipped on the top right
15:29Okay, let's continue
15:35Ah, this kid's saying
15:37Hmm, is Mido
15:38He's kind of bossy
15:45Saria mentioned something earlier about the great Deku tree
15:53So huge
15:57This is the great Deku tree
16:00He's kind of like the guardian spirit of Kokiri forest
16:03He doesn't seem to be doing too well
16:05So you'll need to go inside and investigate
16:08That's how the adventure begins
16:19This area inside the great Deku tree is a dungeon
16:23In this game, dungeons like these can be found in different parts of Hyrule
16:28Listen
16:29And now, I'd like to introduce the fairy companion, Navi
16:34She accompanies Link and helps you in different ways
16:40Okay, let's continue
16:43This looks like a spider web
16:45Ooh, some enemies appeared
16:47Okay, when you get close to an enemy, target it first
16:51Do that and you can move around while targeting the enemy
16:54Since we have the opportunity, let's hear what Navi has to say
16:59Listen
16:59She says
17:01Oh, watch it
17:02That's a Deku Baba
17:03And we'll give you a hint on how to defeat the enemy
17:06I recommend hearing her out first
17:11Okay, let's draw our sword and fight
17:13Here we go
17:14Take this
17:16And that
17:18Okay, we got it
17:19Let's get the item
17:22There's another one
17:24Since we have the chance, let's try throwing the Deku nuts we obtained earlier
17:28Here we go
17:29Take that
17:30Use it to stun the enemy
17:32Then be quick and strike
17:34Easily done
17:36Oh, there's one more
17:39Processing speeds have come a long way since Nintendo 64
17:42So the actions in this game feel snappier and more satisfying
17:47Hmm, it looks like there's a path above, so we'll climb these vines
17:53Let's keep going
17:57Okay, we've advanced a bit deeper into the dungeon
18:00There's a door here, so let's proceed
18:04Oh, a treasure chest
18:07Let's go check it out
18:10Oh, no, we fell down
18:13Hmm, we can't go this way
18:16But there are some vines, so let's climb here
18:20Up we go
18:23Here's the treasure chest
18:24Let's open it
18:29What do you think is inside?
18:36We got the slingshot
18:39It's useful for hitting faraway objects
18:46There's a spider enemy here
18:49Just like recent games in the series, you can swap between items with a single button
18:56And you can also aim the slingshot using motion controls, like this
19:01If you press the targeting button we used earlier, you'll be able to aim pretty quickly and fire
19:11Okay, we want to get back to the other side, but the bridge collapsed and there isn't another path
19:17At times like these, I suggest taking a look at your surroundings
19:22I see something that looks like an eye
19:24If we use the slingshot we got earlier and fire at it
19:29Bullseye
19:33Just like that
19:35As you gain more items, your options will expand
19:38After that, it just becomes a matter of when and how you use them
19:42Those are the basics of gameplay
19:46Okay, we've changed locations
19:48Now, I'd like to show you the area beyond Kokiri Forest
19:52Let's exit through the cave
19:56By the way, there's a loading screen whenever you move between certain areas
20:00This is something we intentionally kept to preserve the essence of the original game
20:09And here is Hyrule Field
20:16Located in the heart of the Kingdom of Hyrule, it serves as a gateway to many different locations
20:25So, over there, you can spot a volcano called Death Mountain
20:31By the way, if you need to know where to go, there's a new feature we recommend using
20:39It's called Threads of Time
20:42At any point, you can see the progress you've made in the story
20:46And what your next objective is
20:49Also, as you continue your adventure
20:51This large tapestry will gradually fill in
20:54Adding another fun element to gameplay
21:00So, based on this, we should head to Hyrule Castle
21:07Okay
21:07Do you see it?
21:09There's a castle in the distance and a gate just below it
21:14Let's head over there
21:18By the way, in the original game, I believe some players rolled to get around faster
21:25Now, if you hold down the A button
21:27You roll, then dash like this
21:31Dashing is recommended whenever you're traveling longer distances
21:41And now, we've reached the castle gate
21:46Okay, then, let's go inside
22:01This is Hyrule Castle Town
22:05Hyruleans come and go through this bustling square
22:09As you can see, there are a lot of people here
22:13In the original game, the camera was fixed
22:16But now, you can move it freely
22:18So, you can take your time looking all around town
22:24How about we chat with these two here?
22:30They seem to get along well
22:33Everyone has a different personality
22:35So, please try talking to as many people as possible
22:42Okay, there are back alleys further in this direction
22:46We've added quite a few new details
22:48Including some parts that were merely backdrops at the time
22:53Around town, you can hear gossip from the townsfolk
22:56And play minigames in shops
23:00It's a place where you can take a break during your adventure
23:03I think there might be a few players who will spend quite some time here
23:10Now, can you tell that the sun is setting and night is falling?
23:16In the original game, time actually stopped flowing whenever you were in town
23:21But in this game, time marches on, no matter where you are
23:28Okay, we're back in Hyrule Field
23:31It's nighttime
23:33Now, I want to introduce the most important item in this game
23:38It's the ocarina, of course
23:40Play it, and different things can happen
23:43Let me show you
23:51This tune is called Sun Song
23:56And, voila, it was evening, but now it's daytime
24:00Mysterious, isn't it?
24:03In this game, certain events only happen during the day or night
24:07So, please try out different things
24:11By the way, there's a fun little feature
24:14With the ocarina, unique to Nintendo Switch 2
24:19Are you ready?
24:34Would you look at that?
24:36Hum-a-song Lynx learned, and he'll play it
24:40And here's an ocarina like the one in the game
24:43It'll be available for purchase on Nintendo Store
24:47Let me play it for a bit
24:59The game can even respond to instruments
25:04Oh, and when you play this song
25:08A horse will come running over
25:12Link can ride a horse as an adult
25:15But I'll leave that for you to try out for yourselves
25:19Let's stop here
25:23What did you think?
25:25As you saw, not only have the visuals evolved
25:28But the gameplay experience has also greatly improved
25:32The game has been reborn
25:34The characters that Link meets are fully voiced during in-game cutscenes
25:39So, come on, let's go together
25:42We were focused on detail with this remake
25:45Including refreshing the sounds
25:49After today's Nintendo Direct
25:51We'll be adding the title screen theme you hear to Nintendo Music
25:56Please give it a listen if you'd like
25:59And now, the release date
26:03The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time launches November 5th
26:09We hope you're looking forward to it
26:13Now, let me hand things over to Mr. Fujibayashi
26:16Who will share more information about the game
26:22Hello, everyone
26:23I'm working as a producer alongside Mr. Aonuma
26:26On The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
26:28My name is Hidemaro Fujibayashi
26:32First, I'm going to talk about the smart device feature
26:35Zelda Notes
26:39It's a game-specific service
26:41That you can use with the Nintendo Switch app for smart devices
26:46Currently, you can use it with the Nintendo Switch 2 editions
26:49Of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild
26:51And The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
26:54And it has various features that can support your adventure
26:59Zelda Notes can also be used with The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
27:04Today, I'd like to introduce a few features that you'll be able to use
27:13In today's record, you can see your accomplishments on a particular day in chronological order
27:21Screenshots are taken automatically while you're playing
27:23And will also be added to Zelda Notes
27:27Plus, you can see the number of enemies you've defeated
27:30Along with other stats from that day's play session
27:38In Gossip Quests, use the image on your smart device as a hint to find the location indicated in the
27:44game
27:50It looks like this is the place
27:53Once you locate it, you'll earn points
27:55Which can be exchanged for music scores for the ocarina
28:00How do you use them, you ask?
28:03Use them in Play Ocarina
28:07As you can see here
28:12You can freely play this ocarina using the screen on your smart device
28:17Using the music scores, you can play along with a guide
28:20Or listen to it play automatically
