00:31You're with us all the time with the sunglasses back there.
00:33Can you believe my glasses?
00:34I think there's so many interesting things in here.
00:36So to know the glasses are here, I feel, I'm honored.
00:38And I love to, because you're here for something that makes a lot of sense, School of Hustle.
00:42Like you are literally the definition of a hustler.
00:44How did this project come about?
00:46Well, GoDaddy reached out to me and it was so on brand and so authentic.
00:50And I'm also very passionate about business, about small businesses, about women-owned businesses.
00:56My business is 28 years old this year and I started it in 1999 with my husband, Sean.
01:02We got married and started our business in the same month.
01:05So I am just very passionate about sharing my journey, about, you know, starting a small business, growing your brand.
01:13And also about just, you know, putting a spotlight on other small business owners' stories.
01:19You know, I was able to share, have Heather join me on the podcast and that's coming out next week.
01:26And it was great to hear from another woman who is not only a friend, but she's in the beauty
01:31industry as well.
01:32And here's someone else's story and their journey of how they got, you know, where they are.
01:37And I love to, I saw a little tease of it.
01:39And did you know that how much credit you should take for her inspiration?
01:43Like the logo, the everything, like.
01:44Can you believe it?
01:46No, I would, that was incredible.
01:47And, you know, we saw each other at the high school reunion.
01:50She said she pulled up in a minivan and I pulled up in a Lamborghini.
01:53And she was staying home with children and she said, well, that's the life that I want.
01:58And so I inspired her and I didn't know that.
02:01And she inspires me today.
02:02So it's really incredible to know that, you know, women can support women, inspire their women.
02:07And hearing, you know, her trials, her tribulations, she said she was depressed, she was staying home.
02:13And now she owns a successful business and she's just put herself out there and grown her brand.
02:18And there's a lot more stories like that that I want to be able to share through the GoDaddy podcast.
02:24Yeah, and Beauty Lab and Laser, Heather's business, was kind of born out of her divorce.
02:28And then she just like took a leap of faith and it worked out.
02:31Now you're kind of in a similar situation to where she was.
02:35How are you leaning on Heather as you sort of navigate the separation from Sean?
02:39You know, she's just fully supportive, no judgment as a friend.
02:43She's also a mother and a business owner.
02:45We spent a lot of time together this summer with our daughters just swimming at her pool.
02:49And it's nice for my daughter to have like big sisters and mentors.
02:53They're very sweet girls.
02:55Heather's a very strong businesswoman.
02:56So it's just been great to have her as a friend and just, you know, another entrepreneur that's growing her
03:04brand.
03:04And I know because VRT caught up with Lisa Barlow recently.
03:08And she was saying like divorces aren't fully happening, but there's some separations.
03:11Is Lisa correct?
03:13Like is the Salt Lake, are we, is the Salt Lake ladies trying to keep some things together or?
03:17Well, I think you see it, you know, in the trailer, there are some separation, separations.
03:22I said splits and ends and I'll just put it in hair terms.
03:26You know, I think you'll have to watch and find out.
03:28I've been amazed at how many people are curious as to what's going on in my personal life.
03:33You had no idea that everyone is just, you know, the viewers fall in love with you and your family
03:37and your story.
03:38And I'll share that this season on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City.
03:42So you'll kind of watch it all play out on television.
03:46I feel it probably felt good that the fans were like rallying around you, but also so shocked.
03:50Like there's sometimes when like people announce that on a show and I'm like, thank God.
03:54But for you, everyone was kind of like, wait, how?
03:57What?
03:57Like it was really, I feel everyone was very much kind of shook processing it.
04:01Yes.
04:02I mean, Sean and I are business partners.
04:03We're family.
04:04We're husband and wife of 30 years.
04:05We're best friends.
04:06Obviously, you know, we are loving parents and everything we've done, we have done together.
04:12And we will continue to, you know, do everything together moving forward.
04:16You know, we love our business.
04:17We love our daughter.
04:18And we talk a lot about the process this season on the show and what the future looks like for
04:24us.
04:24You seem in really good spirit.
04:26Like, how are you doing?
04:27I am today.
04:28You know, I think when you are on national television, you're sharing your story, whatever your story is, saying things
04:36out loud, it makes it more real.
04:38And you have to process it, whatever that is you process in real time.
04:43And you process those feelings.
04:45You accept those feelings.
04:46You accept your future or what you want your future to look like.
04:50Like, and I feel like the hardest moments for me are behind me.
04:55Right.
04:56You know, and that is, you know, talking about my daughter, about what, you know, all of our future looks
05:02like and about our lives.
05:03And also, you know, having something go public.
05:06I just put my phone down and I didn't look at it.
05:10Heather said, don't look at your phone.
05:11We got together with our daughters.
05:12We swam.
05:13And it's like, this is not real, but what's in front of me, my daughter is real.
05:16So I'm just focusing on.
05:18Right.
05:19How is Elektra doing amidst everything?
05:21You know what?
05:22She, Sean and I spent a lot of time with her.
05:24Nothing has changed for her right now.
05:26So, yeah, we just communicate a lot and nothing has changed.
05:29We're very present, loving parents.
05:31We wanted Elektra long before she was here.
05:33And, you know, I know you see me on the show with my friends, but I don't go out with
05:38girlfriends.
05:38I don't go out to dinners.
05:39I don't go out for drinks.
05:41I'm just home and present with my daughter all the time.
05:43And I think she just feels loved and supported and, you know, very strong and confident in who she is
05:49and who her parents are and that she, you know, is surrounded by love.
05:53Yeah, I know you guys do.
05:54When you watch, it's like you and Elektra are best friends.
05:55I love that.
05:56Yes, yes.
05:57And I like, too, that you guys have been spending time with Heather Gay and also that she's an upcoming
06:00guest on the GoDaddy podcast.
06:02I'm wondering, because you and Heather are able to talk, being like, OK, we have these business secrets.
06:07We're savvy.
06:07We're all this stuff.
06:08Now, who from Salt Lake City needs to enroll in Angie's School of Hustle?
06:11I mean, they could all enroll in the School of Hustle.
06:14They could all register their domains for future ideas and visions that they have.
06:19These women are all very entrepreneurial.
06:21They all have great ideas.
06:23So I'm going to just advise them to register their domains right now for their ideas for the future because
06:29we have a very entrepreneurial, creative cast.
06:33I love that.
06:34They are very creative.
06:35Everyone kind of, like, has their own thing.
06:36Whitney's dressing down with her business sometimes.
06:38I know.
06:38How's Whitney doing?
06:39She's doing good.
06:40She's doing great.
06:41She's staying busy and just building her brand, continuing to build her brand.
06:44I love that she's not giving up because the, like, potential Ulta of it all and then what Justin did.
06:49Like, I was so frustrated as of you.
06:52Are you sort of, like, there for her as she sort of tries to rebuild it?
06:56Well, you know, we are.
06:56She's also a business owner and continuing to grow her brand.
07:00And I think for all of us, we lean on each other.
07:02It's women supporting women.
07:03It's women that are, you know, we're small business owners.
07:07We have aspirational stories.
07:09And that's one of the beauties of this friend group is just, you know, we support each other personally and
07:14professionally.
07:15And we support each other's brands and products and businesses.
07:18I know.
07:19I love it.
07:19It's like you guys really do all rally around each other.
07:21Like, even, well, I will say singing is a product.
07:23Like, Brittany's singing.
07:24I feel everyone is very supportive of them.
07:25Brittany is very talented.
07:27I'm seeing her next week when she's in the city.
07:28Oh, her show will move you to tears.
07:31Really?
07:31It's beautiful, yeah.

07:35Like, she's really such a star.

07:44That was a very smart business move on your end.

07:51One of the things that I Googled before I walked in here, being open in business for 28 years,
07:56is people think that you are an overnight success.
07:59And they look at where you are today.
08:01They don't really realize the journey, the challenges, and everything you went to get to this point.
08:06So I just want to tell you all to be an overnight success.
08:09For 28 years, it's 246,000 hours.
08:13That is insane.
08:14To be an overnight success.
08:15And what's great is that you are a longer-running success than the Bravo Housewives franchise
08:19because they're celebrating 20 years this year, which is so exciting.
08:21Can you believe it?
08:22Have you been watching any of Ultimate Girls Trip?
08:23So I've been traveling.
08:25I'm going to have to go back and watch all of them.
08:26I've been gone every weekend, but I'm excited to watch, and I want to support the women.
08:30And I think it's incredible to bring these successful, entrepreneurial, aspirational women together.
08:36And I was able to go and be a part of a couple of the episodes.
08:41I'm looking forward to watching it.
08:43It is so funny.
08:44And this recent one, do you know Giselle from Potomac?
08:46I met Giselle in Atlanta on Ultimate Girls Trip.
08:49Oh, my God.
08:49Okay, so you're going to be on.
08:50Okay.
08:50She is so incredible.
08:51And I do love that she's kind of the investigation detective of Salt Lake City.
08:55She's not the FBI, so you can be in a sorority or van with her.
08:58But she is getting to the bottom of why the Salt Lake girls don't click or they weren't clicking there.
09:04And Whitney and Bronwyn are saying that nobody in all of Salt Lake like Lisa or Meredith.
09:08Like the entirety of the city.
09:10The entirety of Salt Lake City.
09:10I mean, if that's the case, I didn't know that.
09:13That might be a little dramatic.
09:15I mean, that might have been a bit of a stretch.
09:17I don't know if that's the fold.
09:19But maybe it was her friends that she was talking about.
09:22So I'm sure, you know, there's been a lot of challenges, obviously, in the group.
09:26But I don't think all of Salt Lake is giving them the same treatment.
09:29How are you with Lisa and Meredith?
09:30Especially, I mean, a lot of people felt like their posts about their marriage after the news about your marriage
09:35came out was pointed.
09:36Yeah, you know, it was three days after mine and within 24 hours of Whitney's separation announcement.
09:44Yeah, I thought it was, to be honest, I thought it was poor timing and heartless, if you will.
09:49I think when children and families are involved, that's really nothing to, you know, make a post about.
09:55And, you know, you can hold your thoughts to yourself or, better yet, release a post about, you know, in
10:01support of families, marriages and people with children.
10:05And, you know, I think there's a time and a place.
10:07I think it's important to support your castmates when they're down.
10:10I know when Lisa was dealing with her lawsuits last year, I sent her a message of love and support.
10:14I know what it's like to see your life, you know, online.
10:18And I think she was grateful for that message.
10:20I haven't heard from her.
10:21I just heard about the post.
10:23So...
10:24Has you heard from Meredith after her post?
10:26No, and that's okay.
10:27I mean, I wouldn't, you know, I think a check-in is nice.
10:30It's, we're not being paid to be mean right now off camera.
10:32And I think it's really nice, as I said when I walked in, to support other women, support your castmates
10:38through their ups and downs.
10:39And, you know, don't kick people while they're down.
10:41So, it was poor timing.
10:43I know there was a similar one released last year when Bronwyn got separated.
10:47So, I don't think we can pretend it was just like...
10:49It was intentional.
10:50Yeah, it felt intentional.
10:51Which of your castmates do you feel like you can rely on the most?
10:55Right now, I think Heather has really been there for me this year.
10:58I mean, Mary has a lot going on, so I don't want to burden Mary with anything.
11:03But Mary's always there if I need to call her.
11:06Mary's also, you know, willing to take my call and be supportive.
11:09I just, I don't want to burden her with, you know, any of my challenges this year.
11:13But Heather has definitely kind of been there for me.
11:15I love that.
11:16Not kind of.
11:16Heather has been there for me.
11:17Oh, I love that.
11:18And, I mean, you and Mary, like your friendship, people, we all just love it so much.
11:22And, I mean, of course, with all the news that what Mary's been dealing with this year, I love that.
11:26I mean, I don't love that she went through that, but I am happy that she continued with the show
11:31so that she could be surrounded by you and everybody else that has her back and everything.
11:36You know what I mean?
11:37Like, I feel like you guys were able probably to help her process all of that and support her.
11:41Yeah, we are Mary's family.
11:43I think everyone showed up like sisters and, you know, not just coworkers, but like sisters.
11:48And I think Mary really got to feel the love and realize that she is loved by this group of
11:54women.
11:55And it was great to see everyone come together and support her during this time.
11:58And do you know, are there other reality stars that you want to have on the podcast?
12:02Like, do you know everyone that you're interviewing yet or?
12:05Well, not yet in the future.
12:06I mean, this, what we, I started off, I've done eight and looking forward to doing more.
12:11There's so many incredible, successful women in business and men in business, obviously, in the Bravo verse.
12:19And I would love to spotlight them and their growing business and hear their story and understand what really goes
12:25into building a brand or starting a business.
12:28That's what's great about this podcast is the hustle requires hours.
12:32It requires time, commitment, and so much.
12:36And I think it's important to share stories of small business owners and how we got there.
12:40How do you feel like the Housewives experience has amplified your business?
12:44You know, we were at max capacity when I came on the show.
12:47We were, we had been open for about 25 years, I believe, when I came on to Real Housewives.
12:51And so we were at max capacity.
12:53We had our brand built.
12:54We had a reputation, not only just in Salt Lake, but Salt Lake City and beyond.
12:59We had locations outside of Utah.
13:01And so I do see people come in.
13:04I do hear about people coming in because they saw the salon on the show or they want to get
13:08their hair done.
13:09And yes, they do frequent all of our businesses, but we had definitely been established long before.
13:14But we still love seeing guests that come in, you know, because they have seen or heard about the lunatic
13:20fringe from Real Housewives.
13:22But I think it's great exposure.
13:24You can't argue that it's great exposure.
13:26And that's how Housewives helped your business.
13:29But I'm kind of curious, too, for you, as being a housewife, how has it helped?
13:32Has it changed how you approach business and negotiations and everything like that?
13:36Because I feel like it puts you on, like, like you said, like it's a pressure cooker, but also you're
13:41in a lot of like intense conversations all the time.
13:43I'm curious if that helped change how you went about business at all.
13:46You know, I feel that I had a strong sense of self or a strong identity.
13:50Like I said, we were established.
13:51But I think that the networking is incredible.
13:54It opens a lot of doors for collaborations and to connect with other business owners or, you know, potential future
14:01partnerships.
14:02So I think it's just really being reminded that networking is very important.
14:07And it's a missed opportunity if you're not networking through, you know, this this new, you know, world that you're
14:14a part of.
14:14We love that you're a part of this world, by the way.
14:16I just want to give you like we want to give you your flowers.
14:20We think you are a phenomenal housewife.
