00:21Right now, USS Theodore Roosevelt
00:23is putting those lessons into action,
00:25using what we learned from Abraham Lincoln
00:28and Gerald R. Ford.
00:29That starts with logistics.
00:31Roosevelt is maximizing its loadout of food,
00:34retail products, and hygiene items before getting underway.
00:38The crew is converting available spaces
00:40into additional storage, building the ability
00:43to remain self-sufficient for longer periods,
00:46especially when resupply may be difficult.
00:49We're also focused on quality of life.
00:51That means new entertainment equipment on the med stacks,
00:54more durable fitness equipment, spare cardio machines
00:57ready for replacement, and even holiday materials purchased ahead of time.
01:02Small things matter during a long deployment because taking care of our sailors
01:06is part of maintaining combat readiness.
01:09We're building resilience into our systems too,
01:12software updates and instructions,
01:14and being pre-staged aboard the ship,
01:16allowing the crew to keep critical services running,
01:19even when bandwidth is limited or the ship is operating in a degraded condition.
01:24We've also sent a specialized team to inspect and optimize Roosevelt's climate control systems,
01:30making sure we can keep both our people and our equipment operating effectively.
01:35And finally, we're applying lessons learned to family readiness,
01:38working with the ship's ombudsman and family readiness groups to provide families with reliable,
01:44consistent communication throughout the deployment.
01:47That's what a learning Navy looks like.
01:50As one carrier returns home, we listen to its sailors and families.
01:54We capture what worked and what didn't, and we make it better the next time.
