00:24A big fuel price hike is set for September 8, following last week's rollback.
00:29And a woman believed to have died was found alive 11 days after floods devastated Nepal.
00:42Former House Speaker Martin Romualdez is arrested over his 7.44 billion peso plunder case on Monday, September 7.
00:50Interior Secretary John Vic Remulia says the arrest warrant was served to Romualdez at the Cardinal Santos Hospital in San
00:56Juan City where he had been confined.
01:13The office of the ombudsman filed a plunder case earlier on Monday against Romualdez.
01:18This makes him one of the highest officials charged in this multi-billion anomaly.
01:22Ombudsman Boying Remulia says Romualdez is the central figure in the alleged scheme involving diversion of public funds meant for
01:29flood control projects.
01:31Former Marine Orly Guteza, a security personnel of former Acovical Representative Zaldico, recanted this testimony that he delivered suitcases full
01:39of money to Romualdez's house.
01:40Remulia says the recantation does not weaken the case.
02:04naman kailangan. Pero biminili pa rin ng bahay.
02:06The plunder case also includes Kho and private individuals Jocelyn Serenio and Felicito Guevara. Kho is at large and hiding
02:14abroad.
02:15Romualdez allegedly received P7.44 billion in kickbacks from Kho.
02:19The U.S. government has canceled Romualdez's diplomatic, tourist, and business visas.
02:24As of April 22, Romualdez has already been barred from leaving the Philippines.
02:30For the first time, Vice President Sara Duterte's defense lawyer says the names on the acknowledgement receipts for the Office
02:36of the Vice President and Department of Education Confidential Funds were aliases.
02:40This comes after a Philippine Statistics Authority official, Marisa Grande, testified that many of the listed names had no birth,
02:47marriage, or death records.
02:48Defense lawyer Justin Gular clarifies the long-standing question over whether the names listed in the supposed informant's acknowledgement receipts
02:55were real.
02:55Mga totoong pangalan po ba ang mga iyon? Or mga aliases po ba iyon?
03:00These are, in fact, aliases, Your Honor, for the consideration of this court.
03:05He adds, they will expand on the matter during the defense's presentation of evidence.
03:09Lead prosecutor Jinky Luistro later says the issue isn't whether aliases were used, but whether rules on confidential spending were
03:16complied with.
03:16Hindi po issue sa amin whether totoong pangalan or alias ang nakasulat sa mga acknowledgement receipts.
03:27The issue is whether or not they complied with the requirements and procedures in the Joint Circular 2015-01.
03:40The prosecution announces it will tackle the second article of impeachment on unexplained wealth before the third article, which is
03:47on bribery.
03:49Vice President Sara Duterte appeared in court on September 5 to post bail after an arrest warrant was issued to
03:55her over a case of grave threats.
03:58But Duterte expressed concerns for her safety.
04:00I do not feel safe at all, kahit saan man.
04:07Hindi lang ako yun ha.
04:11Hindi lang ako.
04:13Ang ganito ang pakiramdam sa bansang ito.
04:16Duterte arrived at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court to post bail for three counts of grave threats over her
04:22alleged assassination threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his family.
04:26The vice president said she worries about her security, repeatedly claiming that she doesn't trust authorities.
04:32I do not feel safe at all.
04:43Kasi pag namatay ako ngayon, sino nga haabulin ninyo?
04:48Sasabihin lang nitong mga taong to ginagawa namin trabaho namin.
04:51Duterte wanted to bring people into the court, including the media covering her, while she was processing bail.
04:56She says,
04:57Who's behind me?
04:58Did you forget that Ninoy Aquino Jr. was assassinated while on a staircase?
05:02After a while, Duterte entered the hall to post bail amounting to P360,000.
05:09A big fuel price increase is set for Tuesday, September 8, undoing last week's rollback as global and regional fuel
05:15markets remain under pressure.
05:16The Department of Energy announces the following fuel price adjustments for the week of September 8 to 14.
05:22Gasoline will increase by almost P5 per liter, diesel by P5.18 per liter, and kerosene by almost P6 per
05:30liter.
05:30This increase follows a recent rollback in fuel prices.
05:34Local pump prices remain significantly higher than pre-conflict levels.
05:38The rise in fuel prices is attributed to renewed tensions in the Middle East,
05:41affecting energy flows and the depreciation of the Philippine peso against the U.S. dollar.
05:48A 64-year-old woman was found alive on Saturday, September 5,
05:52after her family believed she had died in the floods that devastated Betrawati, Nepal.
05:56The family of Chandika Kumari Shrestha believed she perished in the deadly floods
06:00and had started the ritual mourning her death.
06:03But 10 days after the flood, Shrestha was found alive inside her collapsed home.
06:07The four-story house was swept away by the floods and was left in the middle of quicksand.
06:12Police say she survived in a narrow pocket of air amid water and mud.
06:15They heard a voice saying,
06:17Save me, when they were walking around the house.
06:32Shrestha was among the hundreds missing in Betrawati,
06:35an area among the hardest hit by the floods in Nepal.
06:3711 days since the glacial collapse triggered the devastating floods,
06:40more than 1,300 people are counted killed across Nepal,
06:44and close to 5,000 remain unaccounted for.
06:49And that's today's wrap.
