00:02We are effectively in the nerve centre of Nepal's flood disaster response.
00:07Now these officials sitting here on their laptops are turning this enormous disaster
00:12into something that rescuers can actually act upon.
00:14So as you can see across these screens here, this is the centre Kathmandu
00:19and this is where all the aid is being sent into the disaster zone over here.
00:23As you can see, the bulk of the rescue and supplies are being sent by helicopters,
00:28that's what these lines mean, and over here is where everything is being deployed to.
00:34Now what we have learnt in this centre is that there are 27 holding centres
00:39carrying about 3,600 residents who have been stuck in this disaster zone.
00:46We also know that they are able to map out 19 helipads.
00:51Now some of the other work that these guys are doing is essentially mapping out this disaster
00:56and the destruction settlement by settlement.
00:58And that helps officials make decisions about where aid needs to go,
01:03where it's most crucial, and also which communities have been cut off.
01:07We understand there are 15,000 people cut off from daily food and amenities in the Rasulva district.
01:15Now over on this map we can see where the road closures are
01:20and how many heavy vehicles have been deployed to be able to open up these areas to get aid where
01:25it needs to be.
01:26So the majority of these paths, the major highways are blocked off,
01:29but what these heavy vehicles do is clear those roads so those trucks can actually get in.
01:35Now this is the team that has made a preliminary report that's come out in the last few days,
01:42which will help inform the rest of Nepal's disaster response.
01:46Now some 1.6 million people have been impacted by this disaster,
01:50not directly affected but impacted.
01:52Now these guys are going to help inform what happens next.
01:57We'll see you next time next.
