00:02Rescuers were still searching for survivors on Monday, one day after a ferry capsized off the
00:07northern coast of Cyprus. The ferry left the northern port of Kairinia around midday on
00:13Sunday and was set to travel to Turkey but capsized shortly afterwards. There have been
00:20267 people on board of the boat. Out of that number, 241 people were rescued,
00:25eight died and 18 were listed as missing. Several survivors told local media they heard a blast
00:33shortly before the vessel rolled. Some passengers also said the boat had begun taking on water before
00:39it capsized. Early on Monday, the captain and eight others were brought before a judge where they were
00:45placed under formal arrest. The ferry is currently lying at a depth of 514 meters. Local authorities
00:52said that recovering the vessel's black box will help understand what caused the tragedy.
