00:00In my recent State of the Nation I address, I reaffirm that our duty to the people extends to protecting
00:07the country's interests,
00:09upholding the rule of law, and securing the resources upon which our communities depend.
00:15This is timely, as 2026 marks a decade since the 2016 Arbitral Award affirmed the Philippines' maritime entitlements under the
00:25UNCLOS.
00:36But defending our territory is a responsibility shared by the entire nation.
00:42It calls on each of us to understand our history, to know our rights, and to take part in protecting
00:50the national interest.
00:51We begin by educating the youth where our maritime rights come from and why they matter.
00:57Across every platform available to us, we shall champion truth, counter disinformation, and encourage responsible discourse.
01:07Our fisherfolk, too, deserve our unconditional support.
01:11Their continued presence in our waters strengthens our connection to our maritime territory.
01:17Above all, we have a duty to uphold the integrity of our institutions by demanding transparency, accountability, and a standard
01:27of service worthy of the Filipino people.
