00:00This new tunnel strengthens the decades-old Umiray-Angat-Ipo-Lamesa system,
00:06the backbone that delivers water from Angatdam to Metro Manila and to Mega Manila.
00:13Right now, almost 90% of the water used by almost 20 million people in Metro Manila,
00:20in Bulacan, parts of Cavite, and Rizal pass through them, this system.
00:26These numbers show how important it is to keep the Umiray-Angat system strong, reliable, and future-ready.
00:34And this is why the establishment of Tunnel No. 5 is not only important, it is essential.
00:41Its raw water conveyance to carry 1.6 billion liters of water every day
00:46will increase our system's transport capacity from 6 billion to almost 8 billion liters of water every day.
01:41Of course, none of this would have been possible
01:43without the steadfast support of Maynila Water, our engineers, our workers,
01:51and everyone who dedicated their skill and effort to this project.
01:55This project reminds us that we can accomplish when the government
02:02and the private sector and the LGUs are anchored on a shared vision.
02:08Ladies and gentlemen, let this milestone encourage us to value the resources
02:13that we are blessed with, use them responsibly,
02:16and take part in building a more inclusive, sustainable future for everyone.
