00:00Peace be upon you, and God's mercy and blessings, 30, August 20, 26, and 17, Rabi, LOL.
00:07And honestly, something strange happened to me in one of the Arab countries, which is the receding of the seawater.
00:13I mean, there's a dangerous ebb with the water receding.
00:17The sea, or the shoreline water, has clearly and significantly receded.
00:22What happened specifically was in the Arab Republic of Egypt, specifically in the Suez area, or the Gulf of Suez.
00:30And the Gulf of Suez is the same area that was affecting an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2
00:36on the Richter scale about two weeks ago, or maybe a few weeks ago.
00:42By the way, there was a light earthquake, a mild tremor in the same area.
00:49It was a magnitude 2.3, but it was mild, so I didn't mention it.
00:54It's just an aftershock from the earthquake that hit about three weeks ago.
00:58So there's nothing to worry about.
01:03It was, as we said at the beginning, a magnitude 5.2.
01:08So, as you saw in front of you, the water at the shore of the Gulf of Suez in Suez
01:13City receded, and people are scared.
01:17Is this receding normal, or does it indicate another earthquake is coming?
01:22In my opinion, the reason is natural.
01:25And actually, the main reason is that it's the middle of the lunar month, the middle of Rabi al-Awwal,
01:31the middle of Rabi al-Awwal.
01:34First, the moon is full, and it's aligned in a straight line.
01:38The moon is in a straight line with the sun towards the earth, so the gravitational pull of the moon
01:44and the sun together increases.
01:48The gravitational force applied to the earth increases.
01:53This leads to more extreme tides.
01:57Or, as some people call it, extreme low tide, so the pulling of water increases significantly, or they call it
02:05the greatest ebb.
02:07We notice this major retreat of seawater.
02:10Now, you might say, every month, in the middle of the lunar hijri month, we have tides, and the moon
02:17and the sun are aligned with respect to the earth.
02:20Why don't we see this happening every month?
02:24First, here's the second, and third factors must come into play in what happens.
02:28Yes, this is the clear decrease.
02:30By the way, it's not just in this month, but also in the second.
02:34What's the second?
02:35In the year, and especially in the sixth month, it happens in the Gulf of Suez.
02:40Why the Gulf of Suez, and why didn't it happen, for example, on the shores of Alexandria?
02:45The Gulf of Suez is actually a gulf, it's a narrow body of water.
02:50And it's shallow.
02:51I mean, it's not very deep.
02:54The narrow and shallow water basin compared to the Mediterranean Sea, or let me say, compared to the...
03:02And that's why the phenomenon is quite clear in the Gulf of Suez.
03:06If we add to that, the third important factor is the effect of the northern winds coming from the direction
03:15of the Suez Canal
03:16towards the waters of the Gulf of Suez shore, which, one way or another, leads to this retreat.
03:24So, three factors come together to cause this thing that we were seeing.
03:29At the same time, there was a clear retreat of the waters of the Gulf of Suez.
03:35There was a significant rise in the waves of the Mediterranean Sea, especially on the shores of Alexandria.
03:42In fact, the Egyptian authorities had warned two days ago that there would be a rise in the waves of
03:47the Mediterranean Sea.
03:49They called on tourists and swimmers not to go down to the beach.
03:54The same reason, the northern winds in the Gulf of Suez also caused a retreat.
04:00These northwestern winds were already present, and this type of wind becomes active.
04:05The northwestern winds become active in August.
04:08They are the same winds that led to this significant rise in the waves of the Mediterranean Sea,
04:16not just in Alexandria, but along most of the Mediterranean coastline.
04:21However, on the Alexandria coast, in some areas, as far as I know, there aren't high breakwater.
04:27Some beaches, some countries, and some cities on the Mediterranean Sea build breakwaters.
04:34The countries, or the Ministry of Tourism, I don't know which ministry is responsible.
04:39Build breakwaters. Yes, breakwaters for high waves.
04:42And this is not available in some areas of the Alexandria coast.
04:46That's the reason.
04:48Is there a reason to be afraid?
04:50No, there's no reason to be afraid, but we do warn during these days against getting too close and swimming
04:56at the Alexandria beach,
04:58and people should follow the authorities' instructions and advice.
05:03God be with you and his blessings.
05:06This is Ahmad al-Daram A'urdu with you.
05:10May God's mercy and blessings be upon you.
05:13Amen.
