00:09is to set the catalogue of parts that we wish to work with from the home ribbon tab select the
00:15create design drop-down and choose set pipe network catalog in the catalog settings the
00:23catalog folder sets the path where the catalogs are stored the default location is a folder on
00:29your C drive but on a real project this might be a central server location leave this set to the
00:37default in the pipe catalog pull down we can set which pipe catalog we wish to use the options you
00:46see here will vary depending on whether you have installed other country kits we will use the US
00:52Imperial pipes catalog for the structures catalog select the US Imperial structures catalog
01:00in your model you can only use parts from the selected catalogs before we can insert parts into
01:08the model we need to create a parts list the parts list provides access to selected parts from the
01:15catalog parts lists can be created from the create design pulldown or from the settings tab of the
01:21tool space note the option to create a parts list from all catalog parts this is generally not
01:29recommended as it will need to import information about the parts into the drawing from the tool
01:37space settings tab expand pipe network and expand parts lists you can see some parts lists have already
01:45been created right click on parts lists and choose create parts list in the network parts list go to the
01:54information tab and change the name to Iowa City storm go to the pipes tab and select the new parts
02:02list header
02:03right click and choose add part family you can see the available families from the catalog with different shapes and
02:12materials select concrete pipe PVC pipe and concrete box culvert families and then click OK now expand the header to
02:25see the families you've added
02:27although you've added the families no parts have yet been added to do this you must add some part sizes
02:34from each family
02:36select concrete pipe right click and choose add part size in the part size creator you can specify which diameter
02:46and wall thickness of pipe you want to add
02:48these are based on tables and so are linked together you can add individual sizes in this way or you
02:56can select add all sizes to bring in all of the sizes in the parts list select add all sizes
03:03and click OK
03:05now expand the concrete pipes family to see the parts you've added each part has a style assigned automatically which
03:14you can change to any style in the drawing
03:17using the disk icon at the top of the style column will change the style for all parts in that
03:23family
03:24set the style to double line storm the rules column sets the rule set that is applied to the pipes
03:33the rule set is currently set to basic you can review or edit the rules that are in the set
03:40in this set we have rules for cover and slope we can define the minimum and maximum slope of the
03:47pipe as well as the minimum and maximum cover depth of the pipe
03:52these control how the pipe is placed under the ground there's also a length check which will flag pipes that
03:59are too long
04:01there are other rules available that you could also add in this column you can assign the render material for
04:07the pipe that will be applied when you view it in 3d
04:11the pay item column is used to set a code which can then be used for quantity takeoff now add
04:18all sizes for the PVC pipe and add all the inner pipe width and inner pipe height sizes to the
04:26concrete box culvert
04:28set the render material for the PVC pipe to buy block and for the box culvert set it to concrete
04:36cast in place flat grey
04:39now go to the structures tab in the structures tab you'll see there's already a structure added called null structure
04:47when you join a pipe directly to another pipe a pipe to pipe join and you don't want a manhole
04:53or physical structure to be placed a null structure will be added
04:57instead the null structure records the connection between the pipes but without placing a physical structure
05:05right click on the new parts list and select from the part catalogue concrete rectangular winged headwall from the inlet
05:12and outlet and from junction structures with frames
05:16we're going to choose concentric cylindrical structure and eccentric cylindrical structure
05:23and also eccentric cylindrical structure to tier with the circular frame from the junction structures without frames choose rectangular junction
05:33structure nf and click ok
05:37for the headwall right click and choose add part size and then select add all sizes for the base width
05:43and the structure height
05:46for each of the cylindrical structures right click and choose add part size and then add all sizes for the
05:52inner structure diameter
05:55for the rectangular junction structure we'll add just one size
06:00set the inner structure width to 24 and then set the structure length to 36
06:08we can use this structure to represent an inlet gully
06:13review the structure rules that have been assigned
06:16the rules for the structures include the default and maximum pipe drop across the structure
06:22and there is also a maximum pipe size check that can be applied
06:27the rules for pipes and structures do not prevent a part being added to the network
06:32but where the rules have been broken the parts will be flagged with warnings
06:37now select all of the structures that have been added to the parts list in turn
06:41and then in the render material column change the render material to concrete cast in place as shown
06:49again a pay item code could be added for each structure type for quantity takeoff
06:53we won't be assigning any pay items the structure type column is used to categorize the structures as inlets
07:03manholes combined structures or outfalls these are used when analyzing flows in the network
07:12set the structure type for each of the structures as shown
07:19click ok to save the parts list
07:22the parts list has now been added to the drawing and we're ready to use it to create
07:27ert
07:27the state
