00:30Here comes the timeout taken from the Detroit sideline
00:39So second and short coming up here for the Lions
00:43And Rick, I know this is your favorite part of the broadcast
00:45Well, maybe the Telestrator is your second favorite part of the broadcast
00:48The Forum Credit Union Question of the Week
00:51In 2012, the Colts trailed the Lions 33-28
00:56With just over a minute to go and no timeout
00:58Saturday quarterback Andrew Luck drove the Colts down the field
01:01Throwing his fourth touchdown pass as time expired
01:05Giving the Colts a 35-33 come-from-behind win
01:08What Colts receiver caught the winning score?
01:11Don't answer yet
01:13I'll tell you the answer coming up in a matter of moments
01:15Dobbs fires Jackson catch
01:18Makai Rogers in coverage
01:20But Jackson another grab
01:23And down to the 43-yard line
01:25And on the play of 13 yards
01:27Yep, they're just wearing these corners out again
01:30Three weeks in a row
01:34Under 28 seconds and a half underneath
01:37Sailors
01:39So that a timeout is inbound for the Lions
01:41The answer is yes
01:42Stops the clock with 23 seconds left to go
01:47Well, we're not giving you much in the way of time
01:50To think or Google
01:51The answer to the Forum Credit Union Question of the Week
01:56What Colts receiver scored the winning touchdown
01:58In that 2012 come-from-behind victory
02:01The answer is Donny Avery
02:04Scored on 4th and 10 from 14 yards out as time expired
02:07The Colts trailed 33-21 with less than 4 minutes to play
02:11Touchdown catches from LeVon Brazil and Donny Avery
02:15Helped win the game for the Colts that day at Ford Field
02:19We need a rush here in this 2 minutes
02:22Need a rush
02:22Got to get this guy down before they get that field goal
02:25Here comes a blitz
02:26Dobbs throwing a deep ball
02:28Dobbs in rhythm
02:30Catch is made in the field of play
02:34Lions will hustle on trying to spike the football here
02:37That is a catch of 35 yards
02:40And now they'll go ahead and burn their final timeout
02:42And it is Jackson who is having himself a day
02:46Yeah, he just climbed up on top of Carter
02:49Carter's just had a terrible day out on the outside
02:52And basically a great throw and catch right there by Dobbs
02:59So Lions down to the 2, they are out of timeouts
03:03So if you're going to run the ball here, you've got to score
03:05And that's the end of the half
03:09Smith and Curry will re-enter for the Colts to fetch Liga more the goal line package here on first
03:15To go off the 2 yard line and realistically
03:19Time for 3 snaps if you can stop it
03:25Lions hope they need just one
03:31Sandlers is the running back
03:34Dobbs fires
03:35Touchdown
03:49And as I said this this just been a nightmare for Carter
03:53They gave him a good opportunity here on the outside
03:56They want to look at him on the outside but that hasn't worked
04:03Martin in his second season
04:06Out of Oklahoma State
04:07And the Lions will go for 2 here
04:17Already have missed one extra point but again there's
04:19No such thing as a kicker battle
04:21For the Lions
04:24So kicking another extra point doesn't do you much good
04:32Lions will give these backups a chance to shine here
04:35And going for the 2 point conversion
04:41Dobbs looking left side
04:42And nowhere to go
04:43Just threw that one away
04:44Jackson was the intended target but
04:47He would have had to have been 8 feet tall to catch that one
04:53This reminder Colts fans you can text forever
04:56To 317
04:57317 for your chance to win
05:002026 Colts season tickets
05:03Home opener coming up 15 days from now
05:06Baltimore Ravens the opponent
05:10Sunday September the 13th at 1 o'clock
05:13Eight home games this year for the Colts
05:15Eight road games and a trip to London
05:18Very early in the year to take on the Washington Commanders
05:21And coming up in week number 4 on October the 4th
05:29We will hear from Shane Seiken
05:30He'll chat with Lara Overton
05:32Coming back onto the field for half number 2
05:35They'll get a mixed bag for sure
05:44This kick does hit and goes all the way through the end zone
05:48And that will be a touchback
05:53It's been a mixed bag
05:54But on the silver lining part of it
05:57Our starters came out ready to go
05:59I mean two real good drives
06:03And obviously field goals
06:04We had the penalty on the second one
06:06I think
06:06Or we're going into score
06:08And then we get a big turnover with the defense
06:11So you know obviously as I said before
06:13I think our front line players
06:16Can make a run
06:17We got a lot of work to do with backups
06:21Colts will simply take a knee
06:22And go to the house
06:23And we'll see if Riley Leonard
06:25If his day is done
06:28Again led a touchdown drive
06:30But also had an interception
06:31In his time on the field
06:34Well a focus of the preseason
06:36Has been the battle
06:37For the backup quarterback position
06:40Those two combatants
06:41May have their preseasons come to an end
06:44Still a half of football left to go
06:46Colts trail by 6
06:50Spencer Schrader to make his debut in this game
06:53Blake Groupie got half number 1
06:55Looks like Spencer will get half number 2
06:57As the Lions will have the ball
06:59With a 6 point lead
07:01And this kick
07:01Touchback
07:02Down in the end zone
07:04For a touchback
07:05So now before we start the third quarter
07:08Lara Olbert in the moment
07:09To catch up with Shane Stockett
07:11Let's bring that to you now
07:13Coach points off your first two drives
07:15And then a bench clearing touchdown there
07:17In the second quarter
07:18Overall your impressions
07:20Of the offensive efficiency
07:21In the first half
07:22I thought we did some good things
07:23I think we got to be better on third down
07:25And then obviously scoring touchdowns
07:26In the red zone
07:27But we did move the ball well
07:28I thought Anthony did some good things there
07:29I thought Seth ran it well as well
07:31Saw you go up to Sauce Gardner
07:33After his interception
07:34A couple of takeaways by your defense
07:35What spark do you want that to provide
07:37To your defense in the second half?
07:38It was great to have the starters out there
07:40To get a takeaway to start that
07:41You know drive was awesome to see that
07:43He came up to me on the side
07:43And said you see my ball security at the end
07:45I said I love that
07:47Thanks so much for the time coach
07:49Shane thank you
07:50A bit of a bobble there by the Lions
07:52It'll go back to Altmaier as the quarterback
07:54On this segment
07:56He got the first couple of drives
07:57Dobbs then got the rest of the half
08:00Second down and 12
08:01After the kind of giveaway of two yards
08:04By the Detroit Lions offense
08:09I expect to see Easton stick once the Colts offense takes to the field
08:17I kind of hated to see Raleigh have to go on that interception
08:24Altmaier will keep
08:26Wohler stayed home
08:28Limited of the damage
08:29Just a couple of yards
08:30And it's George Gumbs over to make the play as well
08:33And that sets up second down
08:35And a third down rather
08:37And 10
08:38So you're seeing some of the players on defense that you saw
08:41In quarter number two
08:44And there are only a handful of guys
08:45That you haven't really seen all preseason long
08:47And Rick that will get some reps
08:49Here in this game
08:50Right now there's a lot of battles going on
08:52For those backup defensive linemen
08:54And you're seeing Lou rotate those guys
08:56Right up until into this third quarter
08:58You also see C.J. Allen out there in coverage as well
09:02Altmaier has time
09:04And finally knocked down
09:05And knocked away
09:06Gumbs makes the play
09:08He gets the takeaway
09:10It is a third takeaway by the Indianapolis Colts today
09:15Now normally
09:17This is where we show you
09:19We'll like a full replay of how it happened
09:21However
09:21When a special guest is joining us now
09:24We go straight to our guest that's in the booth
09:26That is celebrating
09:27She is obviously one of the three owners
09:30Of the Indianapolis Colts
09:31Along with her sisters
09:32Kaylin and Casey
09:33It is Carly Ursa Gordon
09:35That is kind enough to join us now
09:36It is great to see you back up here in the booth
09:38How are you doing?
09:39Thanks Greg
09:39Thanks for having me back
09:40Of course
09:41And we talk about this
09:43Like players and coaches
09:44The change for year one and year two
09:46What's it like as an owner
09:48The change from year one to year two for you?
09:50Well I would say
09:51You know
09:52As far as what I'm doing on a day-to-day basis
09:54It's
09:55You know
09:55Even before losing my dad
09:58It's not
09:59That much different
10:00I would say
10:01The biggest thing is
10:02The buck now stops with me
10:04And
10:05You know
10:05As you know
10:07The difference between being a head coach
10:08And a coordinator
10:10Sometimes coordinators have opinions
10:11But it's like
10:12When you're the head coach
10:13You've got to make the decisions
10:14So
10:15But I think it's just
10:16The people that
10:18The players
10:19The employees that we have
10:20To our community
10:22It's just wonderful to work in a place
10:24And for a franchise
10:26That has so much support
10:27And
10:28And I'm just excited
10:30For this year
10:31I
10:31I
10:32I mean
10:33We just saw another takeaway
10:34And
10:35And young George Gumbs
10:36So
10:36We've got a lot of really talented young players
10:40And just a lot of
10:41It's great to have this problem
10:43With the cut down coming up
10:45You know
10:45There's a lot of
10:46Going to be a lot of tough decisions to make
10:48But that's a good problem to have
10:49I said earlier that
10:51In other years
10:53I could have probably picked the 53
10:55In the second week
10:56I said
10:57I can't do that
10:58I can't do that now
10:58All over the place
10:59I totally agree with you
11:00Carly
11:01I wanted to ask you
11:02You know
11:03You made the decision
11:04After years of doing this
11:06What were the key factors
11:08In moving the training camp
11:11Back to West 56th Street
11:13And do you think you can make it
11:15Fan friendly at all?
11:16Absolutely
11:17I think
11:18Number one
11:20Training camp
11:21Has always been
11:22Something
11:23Specifically
11:24For our franchise
11:27To get up close with fans
11:29To engage with them
11:30And talk with them
11:31And they take time out of their day
11:33To come see us
11:34That's something that's going to continue
11:35To be a priority
11:36Even though we're going to be back
11:37At the facility
11:38But I think the decision
11:39Really came more from
11:40An operational efficiency standpoint
11:43And
11:44As you know
11:45Like we don't have two-a-days anymore
11:46We don't
11:47The time we have at camp
11:49Is shorter
11:50And I think
11:51You know
11:52We have to weigh
11:52And make sure that
11:54We're
11:54Getting our athletes ready
11:56And preparing them
11:57In a way that
11:59Gets them ready
11:59For the season
12:00And that was just
12:01Kind of what
12:01Sort of led that decision
12:03The cheering you hear
12:04From the backroom
12:04By the way
12:05That play was actually
12:06Officially under review
12:07And the ruling on the field stands
12:08It was a third turnover
12:09Forced by the Indianapolis Colts
12:11And all done by the fifth round
12:12Draft pick
12:13And George Gumbs
12:14Again
12:15Our conversation with Carly
12:16Will continue
12:16We'll go double box
12:17You won't miss a thing
12:18In terms of
12:18Easton Stick
12:19Making his debut
12:20With the team
12:21Easton
12:21The number four quarterback
12:22The number one quarterback
12:24Has made a rather miraculous recovery
12:26Put in the time
12:26And rehab
12:27In terms of Daniel Jones
12:28Just your thoughts
12:29Of
12:29Of
12:30What guys can do
12:31In terms of
12:32Daniel Jones
12:33Alec Pierce
12:34The Forrest Buckner
12:35All coming off of injury
12:36I guess your confidence
12:37Is what we see
12:38From that trio this year
12:40I'm absolutely confident
12:42In
12:42All those guys
12:44And I think
12:44You know
12:45It's a testament
12:46To their work ethic
12:47I wish people could see
12:49What
12:50You know
12:51They have to do
12:52Behind the scenes
12:52To get their bodies ready
12:54And you know
12:54I always
12:55Feel so much
12:57For our guys
12:57When they go through
12:58These injuries
12:59That you know
12:59That's part of
13:00What our game is
13:01But I think
13:02You know
13:02Daniel
13:03You know
13:04In record time
13:05Coming back
13:05From his Achilles
13:06DeForest dealing with
13:08DeForest dealing with
13:08His neck issue
13:08And being able to
13:10Take some reps
13:11Out here today
13:12And I see his confidence
13:13Come back
13:14And I know
13:15You know
13:16All those guys
13:16Are such pillars
13:17You know
13:17Alec
13:18Same thing
13:19I mean he's
13:20Been such a help
13:21To a lot of our
13:22Younger wide receivers
13:24You know
13:25Being there at practice
13:26Even though
13:26He wasn't quite ready yet
13:28But it was great
13:30To see him out
13:30This week
13:31And I know
13:32He's fired up
13:33For week one
13:34Burke's a gain
13:35Of eight on the play
13:36Sets up second
13:36Down and twelve
13:37As our conversation
13:38Continues with
13:39Carly Air State
13:40Gordon
13:40Those guys
13:41Are returns
13:41The gentleman
13:42We're talking about
13:43Next is going to
13:44Be a debut
13:45As in
13:45Keenan Allen
13:46What is it like
13:47To add a player
13:48Late in training camp
13:49That has the resume
13:50And the credentials
13:51That he does
13:52Well I mean
13:53It's amazing
13:54That Keenan at 34
13:55Is still a beast
13:57And just his production
13:58As you know
13:59That's kind of that age
14:01Especially with wideouts
14:02But I think he
14:03Just brings so much
14:05Professionalism
14:06He brings so much
14:07Expertise
14:08He was
14:10You know
14:10He was with Shane
14:11So he knows our system
14:13You know
14:13He didn't even really need to
14:15Really review anything
14:16He already was
14:17Even last week
14:18On the sideline
14:18With him
14:19He was like
14:19Oh here's
14:20That's how that
14:20Seattle top
14:21We worked
14:21I was like
14:22Wow
14:22I mean he didn't
14:23Really need to
14:25Because I think
14:26That can be tough
14:27You know
14:27If you've got to
14:27Learn a new playbook
14:29But I think
14:29You know
14:30He'll play a great role
14:31He'll give us
14:32Some more depth
14:33And he's just
14:35Really lives our values
14:36Too
14:36He's a great guy
14:37And tough and strong
14:39And he was bigger
14:39Than I thought he would be
14:40To be honest
14:43He really
14:44He really is
14:45And he
14:46He's bigger
14:47In pads
14:48Than he looks
14:49He's in street clothes
14:50And going back
14:51To the question
14:52That Greg asked you
14:54I was so impressed
14:55With Buckner
14:56In that first series
14:57He ran from the middle
14:59Of the field
15:00And made the hit
15:00All the way over here
15:01On the sidelines
15:02That's got to be
15:03Great news to us
15:04You know
15:05You've talked about this
15:06Since the end of 25
15:08And I love
15:09You've coined the phrase
15:10Find a way
15:11And the other thing
15:13That you've said
15:13Along the way
15:14Is we've got
15:16To get back
15:16To the
15:18Colt standard
15:19So my question
15:21Is
15:21What is that
15:23Standard
15:23For you
15:24In 226
15:25Well I mean
15:27The standard
15:28Always
15:28As from a
15:29Results perspective
15:29Is you know
15:30To perennial
15:32Perennially
15:33You know
15:34Win our division
15:34Go deep into the
15:36Postseason
15:36Ultimately win
15:37Championships
15:39But I think
15:40That the
15:41Find a way
15:42Piece
15:42I think
15:42Depending on
15:43Where you are
15:44As a franchise
15:45You know
15:45Every year
15:47There are
15:47Different challenges
15:48And different
15:49Opportunities
15:49And that's
15:50Part of what
15:50Makes it so fun
15:51To work in sports
15:52But I think
15:54In meeting with
15:55A lot of our
15:55Players in the
15:56Offseason
15:56Meeting with
15:57Our leadership
15:58Council
15:58Shane
15:59Chris
15:59My sisters
16:00I think
16:01One of the
16:02Key things
16:03Is we've had
16:04All of these
16:05Things that we
16:06Have
16:06We need
16:07We have
16:08Where we need
16:09To get
16:10Where we need
16:10To go
16:10And I think
16:11That you know
16:12Find a way
16:13Really is about
16:14Being
16:16Being consistent
16:17Being resilient
16:18And then ultimately
16:19That find a way
16:21Mindset
16:21Is that
16:22Inner faith
16:23That
16:23Because adversity
16:24Is going to come
16:25I mean you know
16:26There are things
16:27That are going to go wrong
16:28You're going to get wrinkles
16:29But I think you
16:30Ultimately that
16:31Inner faith
16:32And confidence
16:32In yourself
16:33As a player
16:34From a coach
16:35But also as a team
16:37Like that
16:38Sometimes people
16:39Aren't going
16:40We're all going
16:40To make mistakes
16:41But how are we
16:42Going to overcome
16:42Them
16:42How are we
16:43Going to respond
16:44When that happens
16:46Rick go ahead
16:47Yeah you know
16:48And I
16:49The other thing
16:50That you said
16:50Recently that I
16:51I've taken to heart
16:52And I guess I look
16:54At it from a
16:54Coaching perspective
16:55You basically said
16:57That you feel
16:58That we have
16:59Everything it takes
17:00To go
17:01So
17:02Yes
17:02Do you feel
17:04Like that
17:04That's kind of
17:05A message
17:06To the players
17:07And to Shane
17:08And the staff
17:09And just everybody
17:10We've got what it takes
17:11Let's get it done
17:13Exactly
17:13I mean I think
17:14That's where
17:15If you
17:16If you are preparing
17:18If you are practicing
17:20When you get to the game
17:21When you're playing
17:22You know
17:23You have
17:24That's why
17:24You know
17:25I think
17:26Josh Downs is so good
17:27Because he goes
17:28On the judgment scene
17:29For five hours a day
17:31After practice
17:32I mean that's
17:33All those extra
17:34Little things
17:35You know
17:36To Daniel being
17:36In the playbook
17:38To just
17:39Guys like
17:40Going above and beyond
17:41And I think also
17:43The relationships
17:44You know
17:45And that's something
17:46That you know
17:47I feel like
17:48My sisters and I
17:49From carrying on
17:50My dad's legacy
17:51Is he always
17:53The locker room
17:54Is always so important
17:55The relationships
17:56You have with your fans
17:57The relationships
17:57You have with the people
17:58That you work with
17:59In our office
18:00And I think
18:01When you
18:02That's the beauty
18:03Of a team
18:04It's not like
18:04Singles tennis
18:05Or you're not
18:06You know
18:06Tiger Woods
18:07You have other
18:09You have your
18:10Brothers and sisters
18:11With you
18:12To you know
18:13When you may not
18:14You're going to have
18:15To give your best
18:16100% of the time
18:17But sometimes
18:17Your best
18:18Isn't quite
18:19That good
18:20So that's why
18:21Having all these
18:21Other guys
18:22To support each other
18:23I think is so important
18:25And you can just
18:26Feel that
18:28In our locker room
18:29You can feel that
18:30On our sideline
18:31You know
18:31Just
18:32That guys
18:33Care about each other
18:34And I think
18:34You know
18:35It's a job
18:36But if you don't
18:37Have that caring
18:38For each other
18:39You know
18:40And it's just a job
18:41Like
18:42You're not going to
18:43Do the extra stuff
18:44You're not going to
18:45Go back out there
18:46Like you know
18:46Quentin
18:47One of our toughest guys
18:48I mean
18:49He's not always
18:5080
18:50He's not always
18:51100%
18:51But he still
18:52Goes out there
18:53And gives
18:54100%
18:55Every time
18:55And I think
18:56The more guys
18:57We have like that
18:58With that
18:59You know
18:59Findaway mindset
19:00That's going to
19:01Get us where
19:02We need to go
19:02Carly Arce Gordon
19:04Again CEO of the
19:05Indianapolis Colts
19:06Time to join us
19:07For a large chunk
19:07Of the third quarter
19:08Two yard gain
19:09By sailors
19:10It'll be second
19:11Down and eight
19:11What is that
19:12Communication
19:13And collaboration
19:14Process like
19:15For you
19:16With both
19:16Chris and Shane
19:17So
19:18I'm really fortunate
19:19With Chris and Shane
19:20To
19:21Have a great relationship
19:22To have that trust
19:23And
19:24I think
19:25You know
19:25Ultimately
19:26At the leadership level
19:28You always have to be aligned
19:30But I think
19:30We also don't always
19:31Agree on things
19:32And I think
19:33That's a good thing
19:34I think
19:34That
19:35That means
19:35We trust each other
19:36To be able to be honest
19:37And share our perspectives
19:38And
19:40You know
19:40We don't
19:41Like to micromanage
19:43People in our family
19:43We like to hire great people
19:45And let them do
19:45What they need to do
19:46But also
19:47We have
19:48You know
19:48My job is to
19:50Make sure I set the vision
19:52And
19:52You know
19:53Make sure
19:53That everyone
19:55In our building
19:55Is enabling
19:56Our athletes
19:57And our guys
19:59To
20:00Maximize their potential
20:01Because all these guys
20:02Have so much potential
20:03But the reality is
20:04You think of
20:05Over the years
20:07Guys
20:07You've had come in
20:08With just incredible potential
20:10And they never realize it
20:12And why is that
20:13And I think
20:13That's what
20:14As an organization
20:15We have to make sure
20:17You know
20:17And I think
20:18Chris and Shane
20:19Are really bought in on that
20:20That we have to make sure
20:22We're enabling our guys
20:23Like
20:23You know how coaches can get
20:25It's like
20:26If a scheme's not working
20:27For a certain guy
20:28You've got to change the scheme
20:29You've got to
20:29Your
20:29You know
20:30Coach's job
20:30They're really teachers
20:31And it's their job
20:32To figure out
20:34What
20:34What these
20:35What
20:35What guys
20:36Different talents are
20:37And to maximize
20:38Those talents
20:38What
20:39You know
20:40When you talk about
20:41That relationship
20:43As far as mechanics
20:44Do you meet with them
20:46Daily
20:47Weekly
20:49Chris and Shane
20:50What
20:50How
20:51How does that work
20:52How does the
20:52Behind the scene
20:53Mechanics work
20:54So
20:55During the season
20:57We typically meet
20:58Every Monday
21:00And I go through
21:01My chart sheet
21:02And ask
21:03Shane some questions
21:04About
21:04Certain calls he made
21:06And what happened
21:06And
21:07The benefit too
21:08Of being on the sideline
21:10Is a lot of times
21:11I don't really have to ask
21:12Certain questions
21:13Because I already know
21:14What happened
21:14So it's kind of like
21:15Okay well
21:15And as you know
21:16Sometimes it's just
21:18Something silly
21:18Like in the
21:19Patriots game
21:20The entire first
21:21Defensive series we had
21:23The headset wasn't working
21:24So I mean it's like
21:25You could blame the players
21:26Or the coaches
21:27But really
21:27That's not their fault
21:28So
21:29And then I would say
21:31In the off season
21:32And during training camp
21:33I think
21:33The
21:34Being on the sideline alone
21:37I think
21:38Wouldn't be as valuable
21:39If
21:40You know
21:40Because
21:41I'm in the walkthroughs
21:42I go to practice
21:43I go to meetings
21:44I sit on
21:45And on
21:46Installs
21:47And
21:47That just gives me
21:48Be able to
21:49You know
21:50On a good day
21:51I may be at the
21:52Fifth grade reading level
21:52But it's still
21:53You know
21:54I still understand
21:54Some of the basics
21:56Of what we're trying to do
21:57And what
21:57Our systems are supposed
21:59To get out
22:00Get out of these games
22:01And so
22:03I think it's just
22:05Helps me have a
22:06Perspective that
22:08Like
22:08You need to understand
22:09At a leadership level
22:11If you don't understand
22:11The work that
22:12Needs to be done
22:13And how it needs to be done
22:15And how you
22:16You know
22:17The standard of how
22:18You want that done
22:19Then
22:19You're not going to
22:20Make very good decisions
22:22You know
22:23I've
22:24I've had the
22:25Let me jump in here
22:26Just because we're going to
22:26Have to take a break
22:27After this short time out
22:28I don't want to make sure
22:29I short change your question
22:30Nor your answer
22:31I just want to say this
22:32I think your reading level
22:33Is probably much closer
22:34To a graduate level
22:35Than a grade
22:35When it comes to
22:36When it comes to football
22:37You're not giving yourself
22:38Enough credit
22:40So Fox with the punt
22:43And the fair catch
22:44Being made for
22:45At the 20 yard line
22:46Anthony Gould
22:47Back to make the play
22:48More with Carly Irsay Gordon
22:50When we come back
22:51To Lucas Oil Stadium
22:53I'm so happy
22:57For one more segment
22:58By Carly Irsay Gordon
23:00Of the Indianapolis Colts
23:01And Rick sometimes
23:02The football game
23:03Gets in the way
23:03Of the conversation
23:04I interrupted your last question
23:05You go right ahead
23:06Well we kind of
23:07Talked off air there
23:08You know
23:08I commend Carly so much
23:10For being on that field
23:12Being in the middle of it
23:14I worked for seven owners
23:16In the National Football League
23:17With the great honor
23:19Of working for three generations
23:21Of Irsay's
23:23Which I couldn't be more thankful
23:24And so
23:26What you know
23:27And she's more or less
23:28Answered it
23:29But I think
23:30You know
23:30Being on the field
23:31Being close to that
23:33What advantages
23:34Does it really give you
23:36Other than being up
23:37In the owner's box
23:38So it's
23:39It's a very
23:40It's a different perspective
23:41But I think
23:42Like I
23:43I told you guys
23:44Maybe this was during break
23:45I think that
23:46The people that see me
23:49On the sideline
23:49You know
23:50If I wasn't going to meetings
23:52If I wasn't going to walkthroughs
23:53If I wasn't sitting in on installs
23:55It would make it
23:55It would still be valuable
23:57But it wouldn't be
23:58As good of a perspective
24:01In my opinion
24:01Because there's a lot of stuff
24:03That isn't just like
24:05The X's and O's
24:05A lot of it is
24:06You know
24:08Proceed
24:08Like even basic things
24:09Like huddle procedure
24:10How do you
24:11When I was telling you
24:12About how sometimes
24:13When the headsets don't work
24:14Do you have the right people
24:15That can get them working quickly
24:17And just even understanding
24:18What kind of player
24:19You know
24:20Like it's been
24:20Really cool to see
24:22You know
24:22Having Cam Bynum
24:23Wear the green dot
24:24But having CJ
24:25As CJ comes along
24:26Him wearing the green dot
24:27And him coming off
24:29Of some soft tissue stuff
24:30And really being able
24:32To take more of a leadership role
24:34As a young player
24:35Is really
24:36And I think
24:37That perspective
24:38If I hadn't been
24:38On the sideline
24:39For a long time
24:39You wouldn't
24:40It'd be harder
24:41To understand
24:42You know
24:42What really goes into that
24:43How much pressure
24:44Do they feel
24:44How much emotion
24:45Goes on down there
24:46And there's a lot of
24:47You know
24:47They're human beings
24:48There's a lot of emotions
24:49And they want
24:50And they want to win
24:51Just as badly as we do
24:52So I think it helps
24:54You know
24:54From our
24:56As our team culture
24:57To just really see
24:59Like okay
25:00Are we vibing
25:01In the right direction
25:02Are we really
25:03Supporting each other
25:04Are we
25:05You know
25:05Because there's also
25:07There's a lot of teaching
25:07That has to happen
25:08Right
25:09And there's a lot more
25:09Technology probably
25:10Than when you
25:11When you were a coach
25:11Not to do this to you
25:13But
25:14It's a third down
25:15Coming up
25:15Austin Stick
25:16Able to make the completion
25:17That's the pride
25:19Of Pebbledon
25:19And Eli Panko
25:20On the grab
25:21Out to the 45 yard line
25:23Good for a gain
25:24Of 22 yards
25:25And a Colts first down
25:27Carly
25:27Last thing from me
25:29What's going to make
25:30This season success for you
25:31What are some of the goals
25:32That you'd like to see
25:33This team accomplish
25:33Here in 2026
25:35Well as I said before
25:37You know obviously
25:38Our standard is
25:40You know to perennially
25:41Win our division
25:42To go deep in the postseason
25:43Ultimately win championships
25:44But I think that
25:45We are so excited
25:48As a team
25:48To finish what we started
25:50Because you know
25:51You can never use
25:52Injuries as an excuse
25:53Certainly
25:53But I think that
25:55You know
25:56Just seeing Daniel's
25:57Preparations
25:58Seeing how he got
25:59His body right
26:00After coming off
26:00And Achilles
26:01Seeing some other players
26:02Do the same thing
26:03It just feels
26:05You know like
26:06We're in a really good
26:07Position
26:07You know
26:08You saw Sauce
26:09Get that interception
26:10Earlier in the game
26:11So it's going to be
26:11Really fun to see him
26:12Out there
26:13It's going to be amazing
26:14To see Wally
26:15Who's an amazing kid
26:17And he's tough
26:19And smart
26:20And instinctive
26:21And we've got
26:22You know
26:23Halsey
26:23You know
26:24As a
26:25You know
26:25Strong
26:26Fast
26:26Hard-hitting
26:27Younger safety
26:28There's just
26:29I could go
26:30I could go on and on
26:31About all the guys
26:32That we have
26:33You know
26:33And obviously
26:33Getting Alec back
26:34Is going to be
26:35Really exciting too
26:36But I just think
26:37That you know
26:38It's a different
26:39Feeling this year
26:40And it's in a good way
26:43You know
26:44With
26:44With the twos and threes
26:46Playing most
26:47Of the games
26:48With the exception
26:49Of first couple series
26:50Today
26:51What is your confidence
26:53Level
26:54In the depth
26:55Of this team
26:56You know
26:57And particularly
26:58In the
26:59As the backup quarterback
27:01So
27:02As you know
27:03Like depth
27:04Depending on the year
27:05There's always
27:05Some issues
27:06Or some areas
27:08That we need to work on
27:09And we'll know
27:10A lot more tomorrow
27:11And you know
27:13I think Chris
27:13Does a great job
27:14You know
27:15Really
27:16Leaving no stone
27:17Unturned
27:18And you know
27:18Finding some
27:19You know
27:19Like I
27:20Think about
27:20Like Mo Alleycox
27:21Or Grover
27:22Stewart
27:23And people
27:24People don't remember
27:25That Grover came from
27:27Somewhere
27:27That no one probably knows
27:29You know
27:29And look at him now
27:31But I think
27:32You know
27:32The quarterback position
27:33Certainly
27:34I think
27:34You know
27:36We feel great about Daniel
27:37It's so great to have him
27:39Back as our starter
27:40But
27:40And obviously
27:41I think
27:41With
27:42We were talking
27:43About the find a way
27:44You know
27:45Consistency is something
27:46That you need to see
27:47And I think
27:49You know
27:50When you get to your
27:51Backup quarterbacks
27:51That's something that
27:52Especially with
27:53We have two young guys
27:55With a lot of talent
27:56And potential
27:56But
27:57You know
27:58We need to see
27:59More consistency
27:59And I think
28:00We saw that today
28:01With Anthony
28:01I think Riley's got
28:03A lot of potential
28:04He's a hard worker
28:05He's got a great attitude
28:07But you know
28:08It takes
28:09It takes a little while
28:10It's a big transition
28:11From college
28:12And depending on
28:13Where
28:14Where guys were
28:15What their program
28:16Was like in college
28:17I just think
28:18It takes a while
28:19For them to develop
28:20Those skills
28:21And they're
28:22Sometimes you just
28:23Have these little bumps
28:24And
28:25I think we're going to
28:26Continue to see them
28:27Improve
28:27And you know
28:29Chris and Shane
28:30It'll be interesting
28:31To see what
28:32You know
28:32What their thoughts are
28:33But I think
28:34You know
28:34Today for sure
28:36Seeing Anthony
28:37Have some success
28:38And obviously
28:39Riley did have some
28:40But there's still
28:41Some stuff
28:41He's got to work
28:42I mean everyone's
28:43Got stuff to work on
28:44So
28:44I think the best part too
28:46Is they both have
28:47Such a great
28:49Example in Daniel
28:51Just
28:52The
28:52The thoroughness
28:53Of his preparation
28:55He's
28:56So supportive of them
28:58When they're playing
28:58And he's not
28:59And I mean
29:00Like I
29:00I've said this before
29:01But right
29:02I mean
29:02Less than a week
29:03After he had his
29:04Achilles repaired
29:05He's out on his
29:06Little wheelie thing
29:06And walk through
29:07I mean
29:07And he didn't
29:08He doesn't have
29:08To do that
29:09And I think
29:09The
29:10I think that's
29:11You know
29:12Having that environment
29:13And again
29:14Those guys
29:15Having that relationship
29:16Is going to be
29:17So important
29:18To these young
29:18Quarterbacks
29:19Development
29:19And I'm just
29:20You know
29:21Excited to see
29:21Them continue
29:23To do that
29:23So Spencer Schrader
29:25Is on for a
29:2660 yard try
29:28This would be
29:29The good way
29:29To send the boss
29:30Off
29:31You know
29:31For the rest
29:32Of her day
29:32By making a
29:3460 yard field goal
29:35For Spencer
29:35No pressure
29:36Whatsoever
29:37Groupies already
29:38Made two
29:39In the first half
29:41Spencer's been
29:42Outstanding
29:43In the preseason
29:44Games
29:44And guess what
29:46That continues
29:48Absolutely
29:49The applause
29:50For Carly
29:50Well the applause
29:51Is for Schrader
29:52She offers her
29:52Applause
29:53We give her
29:54Ours as well
29:55Thank you so much
29:56For giving this
29:56Tradition
29:57The fans love it
29:58Great to see you
29:58Again
29:59You know
29:59Spencer's made
30:00A 70 yard field goal
30:01Before
30:01Well you might
30:02Give him a chance
30:02In the season
30:03We'll see how
30:03Things play out
30:04Tomorrow
30:04Get back to the

30:19I want to make
30:19Sure I say
30:20This
30:20The reason we
30:21Have that
30:22Booth conversation
30:22Dates back to
30:23Jim wanted to
30:24Do that
30:24That doesn't
30:25Happen without
30:26Jim's great
30:26Relationship with
30:28My broadcast
30:28Partner and friend
30:29Rick Venturi
30:30Dating back to
30:31The early 80s
30:31So Rick
30:32Great job
30:33In orchestrating
30:34That
30:34Putting the
30:35Questions together
30:35Job well done
30:36By you as
30:37Per usual
30:37Yeah and it's
30:38You know
30:39I enjoy it
30:40You do a great
30:41Job
30:42I really enjoy
30:43Being a part
30:44Of it
30:44And that is
30:45A bit of
30:45A legacy
30:46And you know
30:47Kind of
30:47A prideful
30:48Thing
30:49Jim was
30:50Great
30:50And she's
30:51Picking up
30:51Right where
30:51He left
30:52Off
30:52Time for

30:58For the

31:00Eight plays
31:0039 yards
31:01And Schrader
31:02Good from
31:0260
31:03And partner
31:03I don't think
31:04We've settled
31:04The kicking
31:05Debate just
31:05Yet
31:06Oh my
31:06God
31:07It's getting
31:08More complicated
31:08Like I said
31:09I said it
31:09All week
31:10I'm glad
31:11Coach Mason
31:11Is making
31:12This one
31:12Not me
31:13It would
31:13Not be
31:14The first
31:14Time
31:14The Colts
31:15By the way
31:15If they
31:16Try to
31:16Orgestrate
31:16A trade
31:17Would get
31:18A draft
31:18Pick for
31:19A kicker
31:19It's
31:19Happened
31:20Before
31:21On the
31:22Carrot
31:22More
31:23More than
31:23More than
31:52Solid
31:52Saylor's
32:21Saylor's
32:22That safety
32:23That safety
32:52Has had
32:56It's
32:56It's
32:56The third
32:57Down
32:58The Lions
32:58Have been
32:59Outstanding
32:59On third
33:00Down
33:00For the
33:00Entirety
33:01Of the
33:01Game
33:02And you
33:03Saw
33:03Carter
33:04Come on
33:04The
33:04Bliss
33:04Earlier
33:05And make
33:05The
33:05Hit
33:06But I think he has a chance inside at the nickel.
33:10Obviously not.
33:11That's a corner.
33:12Scott gets a free run.
33:13Could get there in time.
33:17That's a good tackle by Carter.
33:18Carter makes the tackle, but it should be enough.
33:20And yes, the chains will move.
33:22Lions get exactly what they need.
33:25On the catch by Gordon.
33:28We'll move the chains.
33:29The ball goes to the 44-yard line.
33:33We didn't really have a chance to elaborate on it,
33:36but Curry and Gumbs are guys that just seem to be around the ball, Greg.
33:42I mean, and they're young kids that I think have big upsides.
33:46And the young guys may not be done.
33:47They still got the pads and helmets on on the sideline.
33:50Kind of standing by the line of scrimmage just in case their name gets called again.
33:54They're ready to go.
33:56On the handoff.
33:58That is Roydell Williams, who maybe you've heard of before.
34:03He was just here.
34:04Second down.
34:06He was just here.
34:11So, again, coaches are great.
34:12Once you get to the second half of the last preseason game,
34:15you're trying to make sure everybody's got something on tape.
34:19For the hard work that's been put in all offseason long,
34:21knowing you are going to say goodbye to 37 people as of tomorrow.
34:26Now, some of those you may bring back on a practice squad.
34:29Yeah, you've got, you know, your 53-man roster.
34:32Then you have the 17, 16-plus-1 potentially on your practice squad.
34:38So, you know, there's a lot of openings.
34:40And we don't want to minimize practice squad.
34:43First of all, a kid on the practice squad can make as much,
34:47a young kid can make as much as $250,000,
34:51which you could graduate from Harvard and not make that in your first job.
34:54So, it isn't big league money, but it's pretty doggone good in the real world.
34:59And when you think about it,
35:01how many guys that have made practice squads end up on National Football League rosters?
35:06Pretty high percentage.
35:07It's a third down and short.
35:09Lions down 9 of 12 on third down in the game.
35:13Lincoln Williams on the carry.
35:15And dives forward.
35:18Ball comes out.
35:19Colts say they've got it, and they do.
35:22Fourth turnover of the game, recovered by Mitchell Melton for the Colts.
35:28We'll step aside.
35:30Back with more in a moment as you're watching Indianapolis Colts football.
35:40Here's Easton Stick.
35:42NFL veteran spent a lot of time in the Chargers organization.
35:46Played his college football at North Dakota State.
35:49Stick throwing the deep ball, and I think he was hit as he threw it.
35:54And hence a wobbler to Eli Panko.
35:56He got cracked right in the back.
35:59DJ Wanam made the contact with him on the play.
36:04Easton was brought in in the spring.
36:07And Easton knew fourth quarterback.
36:11He has been largely a backup or third-string quarterback
36:17in his previous stops along the way in his career.
36:21I've got 16 minutes to try to find that diamond.
36:27That's what I'm looking for.
36:28Looking for that diamond.
36:31Diamond in the rust.
36:32A kid that comes out of nowhere to make it.
36:34Anderson Castle was the Colts' leading rusher last week.
36:38He was the diamond a week ago.
36:40He's gotten the ball tonight.
36:41I was going to say, he is the candidate.
36:45You know, with Giddens coming back and looking pretty sharp,
36:48obviously it makes it tougher for him.
36:52Nolan Rucci getting some time.
36:53He's been injured during camp.
36:55He's the current left tackle for the Colts.
36:58He was pretty highly regarded as an undrafted free agent.
37:02Tyler Moore in the game.
37:03He was signed by the team midway through training camp.
37:06Here they come.
37:10Colts have not had the success of the Lions.
37:12They've had on third down in this game.
37:14Stick fires.
37:15Higgins broken up.
37:19Coverage applied by the Lions.
37:21Good job to track that one down.
37:25That is Eric Scott Jr.
37:28Recently signed by the Lions that makes the play.
37:32So the Colts will punt it away.
37:39Obviously for these guys, again,
37:40they're trying to get as much tape out there as possible.
37:43And whether the landing spot is with this team or with somebody else in their NFL careers,
37:49but for Colts executives, Chris Ballard, coaching staff, scouting staff, et cetera,
37:56now it's about finding the 53.
37:58Dorch on the return.
38:00Devin Marisock able to track him down.
38:03Devin played the Canadian Football League last year.
38:05He has not had many in terms of reps here in the preseason.
38:09Did a great job in tracking him down across the way.
38:12Our hearts go out to our fellow Hoosiers,
38:14affected by the flooding that you've seen throughout the course of the month of August.
38:18It's times like Dean's when it's so important
38:19for people in communities to come together to take care of each other.
38:23Indianapolis Colts are proud to join the Pacers Fever and Boom
38:26to donate $250,000 to the Red Cross
38:29and provide immediate support to those impacted in Indiana.
38:32The Colts have also worked with United Way and Meijer
38:34to distribute food supplies to Red Cross shelters.
38:36We're encouraging fans to visit redcross.org
38:39backslash Indianapolis Colts
38:41to support our fellow Hoosiers in need.
38:44Dobbs rotates back in.
38:46looking for the deep shot, checks it down,
38:48and Harris has blanket coverage.
38:52You know, Harris right now,
38:56all of a sudden, all the issues we have.
39:00Malik Cunningham was the intended target,
39:02and that is our last play of quarter number three.
39:06Down to 15 minutes of preseason football left to go.
39:11Lions 19, Colts 16,
39:13as you're watching from Lucas Oil Stadium.
39:22For the ultimate game day experience,
39:25enter today at colts.com slash IFBI.
39:30You know, Greg, you talked about it,
39:32and obviously the importance of what's going on right now.
39:36You know, to the fans, there's not a lot of significance,
39:40but I've always told my players that regardless of the media interest in this fourth quarter,
39:49this fourth quarter will be the most viewed tape in the war rooms throughout the league
39:56looking for guys that show something practice squads,
40:01practice squads, whatever, just getting them on film, getting them on record.
40:04So for these guys out there right now, they're still fighting for their existence work-wise.
40:13They're nodding at the center of your screen.
40:15Rookie C.J. Allen still getting some reps out there.
40:17Yeah, the two rookies, Allen and Boettcher, are playing a lot of football,
40:23and I think that's by design.
40:24I think right now the top three going into Baltimore will be Davis Gaither,
40:33will be Carlisle, and will be Ajakay.
40:36But these two kids have a future.
40:38They just need to keep playing.
40:40On the end around, Boettcher gives Jason.
40:44All things considered, makes a pretty good open field tackle.
40:46Really good.
40:47I just have seen, I've seen so much.
40:51And Allen, we just unfortunately, because of injuries,
40:53we haven't seen him in the detail that we've seen Boettcher.
40:57But Boettcher has shown me in what I call isolation
41:00everything that a linebacker has to do.
41:04Now he's got to be able to program it all at once at an NFL level,
41:08but there isn't anything I haven't seen that he can't really do.
41:13Dominic LeVette was the carrier on the end around.
41:20Williams out of the backfield, and Harris and Chami is over
41:23to make the tackle as well.
41:24Third down coming up, and let's go to the sideline
41:27for a Toyota sideline conversation, Lara.
41:32Alec Pierce is locked in on watching the play on the field,
41:35but we're going to try to get a couple questions with you.
41:37Alec, back to practice just two days ago.
41:39How are you feeling after the return?
41:41Yeah, feeling good.
41:42It's good to be back out there.
41:43I know that you are one who has never taken playing this game for granted,
41:47but what is something that you have an even greater appreciation for
41:50now being back on the field after having such an extended layoff?
41:53Yeah, definitely, you know, appreciate the grind,
41:55appreciate being out there, those tough summer days, you know, camp.
41:59You know, I miss it a lot, so it's good to be back.
42:01There was such great reaction from your teammates.
42:04What was the feeling you got from them just being back out on the practice field,
42:06the excitement that they have to have you?
42:08Yeah, no, it was great.
42:09You know, I love the guys, love being with them,
42:12so it was great to have a little bit of that reaction,
42:14and, you know, I'm just excited to be out there with them, too.
42:17And I know someone you're excited to be back with, your quarterback, Daniel Jones.
42:20I know you guys were not on the same injury and recovery timeline,
42:23but being that you were both rehabbing along those last few months as you were,
42:27what is something you took motivation from in the way that Daniel attacked his own rehab process?
42:32Yeah, I think, you know, I was able to learn a lot from him,
42:34and I know, obviously, like, just kind of seeing the way he worked
42:38and seeing the things he did with PT and stuff like that,
42:41and just he came back so fast and recovered so well.
42:44I've been able to kind of ask him some questions.
42:46Hey, what are you doing for your body for recovery-wise and stuff like that?
42:49So he's been great.
42:50He's been, you know, in my corner and helping for that.
42:52Another guy I know who you are eager to ask questions to,
42:55your new addition to the wide receiver room, the veteran Keenan Allen.
42:59What has been his immediate impact?
43:01What have you taken away now having some time to share the room with him?
43:03Yeah, no, it's great to have him in the room.
43:06He's just done such a great job, like, just seeing, like, one, the way he prepares,
43:10the way he watches film, the way he studies the game,
43:12and then also just seeing him, you know, out there, little moves he does.
43:15He's so crafty, such a crafty route runner.
43:17So just going to try to learn from that.
43:19What is another element going into your fifth year
43:22that you are trying to grow and develop within your own game?
43:24Yeah, I think try to take some stuff from Keenan, from stuff from J.D.,
43:28you know, add a little bit more, like, that crafty route running
43:31and pick up some of their moves.
43:35Somebody whose moves I know you've picked up, too, over these last few seasons,
43:38your coach, Reggie Wayne.
43:39He joked that in the time that you were sidelined,
43:42he was getting a little sick of you hanging around.
43:44You were getting a little bit annoying.
43:45He was kind of tired of you.
43:47What was the biggest thing you took away having some time
43:49to be at Reggie's hip over the course of training camp?
43:52Yeah, just, you know, getting to, like, kind of see the game
43:55from the coach's point of view, right, and see what they're looking at,
43:58kind of see what he's looking for the receivers to do, you know,
44:02kind of live as the play's going on, you know.
44:05So I think that helps, you know, me kind of understand,
44:09okay, this is what we're looking for.
44:12And then, you know, then I know I've got to try to do that.
44:16What do you see as being the potential for this offense
44:19when you have so many returning pieces
44:21and then a couple of additions like you have with Keenan?
44:24Yeah, I think we want to be, like, you know, explosive.
44:28I think we know we've got the players in place for that.
44:31I think we want to run the ball well
44:33and then make plays on the field, move the chains with the passing game.
44:36You're always out here making plays on the field at Lucas Oil Stadium,
44:39entertaining the fans.
44:40Just last week, another member of the Pierce family
44:43was out entertaining the fans.
44:44Pre-game in touchdown town, your dad, Greg, and his band
44:47were able to perform.
44:49You got to go out and introduce them.
44:50How fun was it for you to go out there,
44:52be a cheerleader for your dad
44:54when your parents are in every single game in the seats cheering for you?
44:57No, it was awesome.
44:58I think that was the Super Bowl right there.
45:00So appreciate you helping to get that set up.
45:03And, you know, shout-out EPA.
45:04I heard they did a great job.
45:05From what I heard of them, I thought they'd signed a phenomenal,
45:07so I'm proud of him, you know?
45:09Big victory for EPA.
45:11Lots of big victories, of course, coming for you as well.
45:13Alec, appreciate the time.
45:14All right, thank you, guys.
45:16Mayor, thank you very much, Alec.
45:18Thank you for the time.
45:19Again, return to practice on Thursday off of the pup list,
45:23and now it is about trying to be ready 15 days from now
45:27from the man that has led the NFL in yards per reception
45:30each of the last two seasons.
45:32Yeah, and he is so vital.
45:34He's such a vital piece to this offense.
45:39Number one, his ability to stretch the field,
45:43to make plays downfield.
45:45He stretches, deepens, and widens the defense.
45:49And if you don't have somebody that can do that,
45:52then they're going to clamp down on Jonathan on the run
45:55and Warren inside and Allen inside on those possession routes.
45:59So it's so important to have him and to have his deep threat at all times.
46:05And I even see Doolin playing a little bit on the outside
46:09just to give us that deep threat and to stretch that defense.
46:14Catch by Cunningham, the former quarterback at the University of Louisville.
46:18Sets up first and goal at the one-yard line.
46:20Roydale Williams hit and will not go any farther.
46:23Washington got there first.
46:25One-yay Thomas after that.
46:26We have a Lions player that is down in the end zone.
46:30It appears he's going to be able to get up,
46:32and no delay in the game here.
46:35Second and goal.
46:36Oh, that's Washington.
46:38Washington has made a lot of plays, most of them obviously in practice.
46:42We've been there all the time.
46:44He's a kid that I think, you know, would be in contention.
46:49Owens will probably be the fourth guy because of experience and special teams,
46:55but Washington's a guy to watch.
46:59Coach, Dobbs in the flat and just overthrows his man.
47:03Harris is playing well.
47:05Coach, that's my diamond right now.
47:07That's Harris who, he wasn't just in the rough.
47:10He wasn't even here.
47:12He's just arrived, and he's basically outplayed every corner except the top four.
47:20And a 53-man roster has to be set by 6 o'clock tomorrow night.
47:25Then you go about putting the practice squad together early in the week.
47:29And again, I think there's probably going to be some additions
47:32after the 53-man roster is set.
47:35Third and goal on the handoff, and shouldn't be enough.
47:39Touchdown.
47:40Touchdown for Travion Williams.
47:43And it gives the Lions a two-score lead with 7.25 left to go in the game.
47:48Greg, when we would make that last cut,
47:52and a lot of the fringe guys that you're talking about who made the team,
47:56I used to sit down with them, and I used to tell them straight up,
48:00you will now compete with the waiver wire for the next 18 weeks of the season.
48:08So Bates is on for the extra-point try.
48:12Another lengthy drive by the Lions after having one that took eight minutes in the second quarter.
48:18That one goes for seven minutes and 42 seconds.
48:23Their backups have been impressive today,
48:25and that extra point is pushed wide right.
48:30A second miss on an extra-point try tonight.
48:33But still a nine-point lead for the Lions.
48:36Nine-point lead for the Lions.
48:40Missed and stick again has gone the entire way,
48:43and half number two for the Colts.
48:45Has led one field goal drive.
48:49A lot of guys in uniform, but no longer in pads,
48:52and a helmet nowhere near them on the Colts' sideline.
48:57On the run back, that's Giddens, and Giddens spun down just shy of the 35-yard line.
49:08Lissi's Bentley the fourth will be the running back on this drive.
49:11That was impressive last year in the preseason,
49:14and parlayed that to a season spent primarily on the Colts' practice squad.
49:19Ulysses, we've talked about this,
49:21and, you know, his running back coach endorsed this as well.
49:25He's always a potential third-down back.
49:28He's got terrific hands, runs good routes,
49:31and so that would be his role if he were to make it.
49:35Rayland Sharp, the catch, the turn,
49:38and he'll pick up a solid gain of four or five on first down.
49:41A little extra quick left to play, but no damage done.
49:44Let's go right back to the sidelines, and Lara Overton.
49:47Well, we have heard so much about the interception.
49:50Now let's talk about the interception.
49:52With Sauce Gardner, what did you see that created the opportunity
49:55for the takeaway you had there in the first quarter?
49:56I mean, actually, we was in man coverage,
49:58so, you know, my man ran like a stop route,
50:00so I had my man under control,
50:02and then I tried to get a little sneaky.
50:04You know what I'm saying?
50:05So, you know, I made a play.
50:06Made a big play, and then you chose to go down.
50:08You played it safe.
50:09I heard you come over here to Buckingrove and say,
50:11I realized it was preseason, so I got to go down.
50:13You were taking every precaution possible, right?
50:15You weren't going to try to overdo it.
50:16Oh, yeah, for sure.
50:17I wasn't trying to overdo it too much.
50:18You know, it's just a blessing to be able to make a play like that.
50:21You know, last year I had a little adversity,
50:23so I wasn't able to, you know,
50:25had a year I wanted to have as far as taking the ball away.
50:29So, yeah, it's good that I'm out of that drought,
50:33and I'm ready to get going in the season.
50:34What was the biggest motivation that you found through that?
50:38Oh, you know, just be ready for when the ball comes.
50:41That's what I've been telling myself.
50:42You know, make the plays that come to me, so.
50:45Sauce, if you have a chance to stick around,
50:47we've got to go on a commercial break,
50:48but we'd love to catch up with you a little bit more
50:50after we take a commercial.
50:51Yeah, most definitely.
50:52Let's do it.
50:56Flash, Wacker, Reese.
50:57Stick will give the football to Ulysses Bentley.
51:00He's stopped for no game.
51:01Let's go right back to the sidelines.
51:03Because Sauce Gardner is hanging around with Lara Overton.
51:06Sauce, when I talked to Coach Dyken at halftime,
51:09he said you made sure to point his attention
51:11to your ball security after the interception.
51:13That's a huge point of emphasis for him.
51:14What do you implement every day in practice
51:16to be able to execute it out here on game day?
51:18I mean, we start every single meeting
51:20talking about ball security
51:21and him showing clips of guys doing it in practice in the game.
51:24So, you know, I've been working on it.
51:26You know, just joking around.
51:27It's great.
51:28I was joking around working on it.
51:29Been like, in the game,
51:30it was actually something that I just naturally win it is.
51:33So, you know, I know how important it is to protect the ball.
51:35So, yeah, it just happens.
51:38That's been a big spark for this defense.
51:39Now multiple takeaways on the afternoon for this group.
51:42For you, now having your first full season
51:45in this Lou Anarumo defense,
51:47what are the expectations you have of yourself?
51:50Man, just obviously all pro, Pro Bowl.
51:52Shoot, I'm trying to make a run
51:54as a defensive player of the year.
51:55You know what I'm saying?
51:56It's bigger than everything.
51:58But, you know, my main thing is being the best player
52:00I could be to, you know, help the team get to,
52:02you know, the postseason.
52:03You know, we want to get to the Super Bowl.
52:05So, you know, that's what it's all about, man.
52:06Individual accolades, they're going to come.
52:08I know Lou loves his DBs.
52:10How does he challenge you guys each and every day
52:13to achieve those goals that you have,
52:14the expectation you have?
52:16I mean, I would say he always challenges us,
52:17especially as corners.
52:18We play a lot of man, you know, getting hands on,
52:21you know, playing with that confidence, with that swag.
52:23So, you know, I just, you know, vocalize that as well,
52:26you know, amongst the rest of the guys.
52:28So, you know, just playing free, playing with that swag,
52:30you know, and we know what it's going to be,
52:32just make plays when the ball comes.
52:33I joked earlier that it's the unofficial University of Cincinnati alumni meeting
52:38because Alec Pierce was out here, your college teammate, now Colts teammate.
52:42How good was it to get AP back at practice earlier this week?
52:45I mean, it's amazing, you know, just seeing him, you know, smile,
52:47seeing him have fun out there.
52:49You know, like I said, I went through some adversity last year with, like, my calves.
52:52So, you know, it hit him way different when you back out there from an injury.
52:57You know what I'm saying?
52:57And so, yeah, I'm excited to have him back out there.
53:00Going back to your time in college,
53:02when you guys had those one-on-one battles up against each other,
53:05how did you make one another better?
53:07I mean, when I first got to college, he used to beat me a lot.
53:11You know, I used that to get better.
53:13Like, he helped me get better, much better.
53:16So then, you know, we started competing with each other.
53:18Then I started getting the edge on him a little bit.
53:20And, you know, it just used to be one of them things where it was a must-watch.
53:24So we definitely got each other better for the NFL.
53:26And, like, now we're on the same team.
53:28So, you know, it's amazing.
53:29Well, you are always a must-watch, Sauce Gardner.
53:32Really appreciate the time.
53:33Go enjoy the rest of this fourth quarter with your team.
53:34Thank you so much.
53:37Colts turn it over on downs after fourth and six.
53:40And we will step away.
53:424.23 to play in this one.
53:44Lions lead it by nine.
53:51It's a ball at the 49-yard line.
53:54We'll see if the Colts get aggressive in taking timeouts.
53:58We just kind of let this one play out down by nine in the finale of the preseason.
54:06Roydell Williams, the ball carrier.
54:09Well, he stopped after a gain of three, maybe four.
54:13All right, Rick, kind of what's your mindset now as we go into roster construction mode going into tomorrow night?
54:19Well, you know, I'd be interested.
54:20You know, you tried to read between the lines.
54:23I'm a little surprised Gumbs is out there, although he's unique in that he doesn't have a lot of experience.
54:30I think Gould is now a factor at receiver.
54:35After Doolin, he may be number five.
54:38And then they choose, you know, number six there.
54:44You know, offensive line, I'm with you.
54:47I think you're going to see new faces before this is over.
54:52You know, the five, six corners, to me, you may see new faces.
54:59You know, it's not – you can pick the 53, but I don't think it's exacting as it has been
55:08in the past,
55:09and partially because our twos and threes, you know, and I'm not going to sugarcoat it.
55:14They've been dominated the last two weeks.
55:16I mean, thoroughly dominated.
55:18So, you know, we just haven't had those guys that step up, you know,
55:22and clearly are ahead of everyone else.
55:24So, I'll also be interested in how many defensive linemen and who the backups are.
55:32Williams, the ball carrier, and brought down right around the first down marker.
55:36It's going to be awfully close.
55:39But to make sure we also note the center that's in the game for Detroit Lions,
55:43as we show you the replay here,
55:44with the current center for the Lions is Gus Hartwig from Zionsville, played at Purdue.
55:51Brown in on the tackle for the Colts.
55:54And it will be fourth and short.
55:58Lions will have to snap the ball before the two-minute warning.
56:01If a timeout – you take a timeout now,
56:03you lose your membership to the Coaches Association in the NFL.
56:10On the handoff, and –
56:11I don't think he made it.
56:12I don't think he made it.
56:13Maybe second effort's going to make it close.
56:17We may have another test of the virtual measurement system here.
56:24They will give him the first down here.
56:28And that will lead us to the two-minute warning.
56:33Virtual measurement system was used during the timeout,
56:36and by a whisker, the Lions have a first down.
56:40And it looks like the Lions are content to go to victory formation,
56:43and I think the Colts will largely be content to let them do just that,
56:48because there's no longer headphones on Lou Anarumo or Shane Steichen wearing headphones.
56:59Let's take a look at what the Colts have done in the red zone today.
57:05One of one.
57:06That was the touchdown by D.J. Giddens.
57:09The three points were field goals from either just outside of the red zone
57:14or, in Spencer Schrader's case, from halfway, you know, back on the field.
57:23Given the intelligence of Josh Dobbs, not surprising he has done the math properly
57:28and knows exactly when to take that snap to ensure that no further action is needed.
57:34Our third down conversions today brought to us by Huntington.
57:37Well, the bank that believes everyone deserves a shot at financial success.
57:41Huntington, the official bank of the Colts,
57:43and for a second consecutive day,
57:45it was not exactly a banner performance on third down by the Colts.
57:50No, the Colts are two for 21 in the last eight quarters on third down.
57:56What I say is this.
57:57When the Colts ones were on the field on offense, they scored.
58:01They scored.
58:01When the Colts ones were on the field on defense.
58:03They played good.
58:04They got a turnover.
58:05I believe our front line players are very competitive,
58:08and they're much closer to the 8-2 than they are the 0-7.
58:13And the preseason has officially come to an end.
58:16It'll be one without a victory for the Indianapolis Colts.
58:19They will finish 0-2-1,
58:21but that will very much be put in the rearview mirror immediately.
58:25Now everything is about building that roster for the 2026 season.
58:30Roster cuts must be made by 6 o'clock tomorrow night to get down to 53 players.
58:37We've got a 15-day gap between the end of the preseason
58:41and the start of the regular season.
58:43But that start happens here against the Baltimore Ravens two weeks from tomorrow.
58:49More in a moment as you're watching Indianapolis Colts preseason football.
59:13Hey, it's rocking now.
59:15It's rocking, Bulls.
59:16It's rocking now.
