00:15Spending his free time camping, fishing and hunting, this creator regularly heads into
00:23the outdoors with friends. But being out in remote areas can also lead to encounters you simply
00:32aren't prepared for. In the early hours of the morning, he and his friends headed out onto the
00:38lake in their boat to go bow hunting. But while they were out on the water, they suddenly noticed
00:46something they couldn't explain. A woman was standing in the lake by herself. The footage
01:10was brief. But after it began circulating online, questions quickly followed. Some believed
01:18she could have been a missing woman. So the creator later shared an update explaining exactly what
01:25happened. A lot of people have been asking about the lady in the lake. Several people asked if it
01:34was in Arkansas or Kansas, either or. I did reply back to them because they were concerned that it
01:40might have been a woman that went missing with her child. I did let them know that it wasn't out
01:46there.
01:48So yeah, we were out there that night. We were out bow fishing. We had already went by that place
01:55and we were headed back to the boat ramp. And that's when we noticed that that woman
02:00was in the lake. We didn't notice anybody else with her. She didn't have a dog or anything.
02:10And a lot of people were asking, wondering if, you know, if we reached out to her and, you know,
02:17make sure she was okay. And yes, we did. You know, it's not every day that you go to the
02:24lake and
02:24see a woman out there in the middle of nowhere, pitch dark. So we did ask her if she was
02:33okay.
02:34Uh, she needed any help. Uh, but she never replied back to us. She never acknowledged us anything. All
02:44she did was just slowly turned away from us. Um, after, you know, a couple of tries trying to get
02:52her
02:52attention. She, uh, just kept looking away. We just left her alone. Um,
03:02so yeah, I mean, we tried to help her out, but we didn't notice, you know, if maybe they were
03:09out
03:09there camping, we didn't see a campsite, no campfires, anything like that. Um, I mean,
03:18unless there was somebody else with her and they were just hanging out in the woods, we didn't see
03:23them, but right there close by, there was absolutely nobody with her. The group called out to her asking
03:32if she needed help, but she didn't respond. She simply remained there. They called out multiple times,
03:41but there was still no answer. There was also no sign of a nearby campsite or anyone else around her.
03:50The situation became increasingly unsettling, but after spending around 10 minutes calling out with
03:58no response, the group decided there wasn't much more they could do. They eventually left the area,
04:05still unsure about what they had witnessed and whether there was anything else they could have done.
04:17Christina embarked on a backpacking trip deep into the wilderness of California with a friend,
04:24expecting weeks of hiking, camping and exploring the outdoors. But around a week into their trip,
04:33they experienced what would become one of the most frightening moments of their entire journey.
04:39The scariest moment happened about one week or so into our trip. We had been camping, just the two of
04:46us,
04:47me and my friend who's a female. We had been hiking for like 12 hours that day. We were really
04:53tired,
04:53so we went to go get a campsite and I was really tired. I was kind of pushing my friend
04:58to like settle
04:59down and maybe like find our camp a little bit earlier that day. So we kind of camped at a
05:03place
05:04that was like the side of the trail. Like there wasn't anyone else there. We had camped pretty much
05:10all on our own, but it was on the side of the trail. So we were a little bit exposed
05:14to the other
05:14people who were passing us on the trail. So we both had separate tents. We would set up our tents
05:19right
05:19next to each other. So we were within kind of like talking distance, but we weren't actually in the same
05:23tent. We go to sleep. Everything is going just fine for the majority of the night. And then at,
05:30I want to say around five o'clock in the morning, I see a light outside my tent. So like
05:36I assumed it
05:37was my friend. And so I kind of like just wait and listen and I hear footsteps with the light
05:43and you
05:44know, maybe my friend's just going pee outside. Like maybe it's, I'm freaking out for no reason. So then
05:49the footsteps start slowly walking around my tent with the light shining into my tent. So I'm like,
05:56okay, like there has to be like a logical explanation for this. Like trying to stay sane.
06:01And later I was talking to my friend. She said she was doing the exact same thing in her tent,
06:05like hoping that it was me walking around and try not to freak out that she was about to get
06:10murdered.
06:11It was probably a few minutes, but it felt like a half hour. Like it felt so long. I was
06:16so frightened.
06:17And after a long day on the trail, all they wanted was somewhere to set up camp
06:22and finally get some rest. With limited space available, they decided to set up close to the
06:28trail. But at around 5 AM, everything changed. Christina and her friend were inside their separate
06:37tents when they began hearing footsteps nearby. Someone was outside. Christina opened her tent and
06:44quickly realized the footsteps weren't just in her head. Someone really was moving around their camp.
06:51Finally, like I just can't take it any longer. I'm just sitting in my tent, like getting freaked out.
06:56And I decide to unzip my tent. Like I'm just going to face whatever this is head on. So I
07:02unzip my tent.
07:04There is pretty much my worst fears realized. There is a man I do not know standing outside of my
07:12tent,
07:13staring at me. In the meantime, my friend is sitting in her tent and she hears the tent unzip from
07:18me
07:18unzipping it. And she thinks that he's unzipping my tent trying to get in. So I'm like, who are you?
07:23And he says, I'm Jack. And I say, okay, like, why are you here? Silent. He doesn't say anything.
07:30So Jack kind of stares at me and he just gives me like the creepiest look. I say like, well,
07:36what are you doing? Like what? Like we're sleeping here, you know, trying to act aggressive still,
07:42even though I'm like terrified in the meantime. And I'm like holding my tent stakes, like ready to stab
07:47him. You know, he kind of just seemed like he was like in a daze. Like he just said, oh,
07:51I thought
07:52this was my friend's tent. But like he had his backpack on, like even, why would he think this random
07:59tent on the side of the trail is his friend's tent? And even if he did, why would he try
08:03to get into
08:03it at 5am in the morning and creepily walk slowly around all the tents in the meantime? So I was
08:09like,
08:09yeah, your friends aren't here. And then I zipped up my tent and then hid in my sleeping bag and
08:14hoped that he would go away. So then I heard the footsteps slowly, slowly walking away from the tent.
08:21And I figured like, okay, I'm going to be safe. She eventually settled back down. But the situation
08:27became even more unsettling the following morning. The man they'd noticed during the night was still
08:33there. He was asleep behind their tents with no tent or shelter of his own, lying directly on the
08:41hard trail. So then I wake up the next morning and I talked to my friend and I'm like, oh
08:45my god,
08:46I unzip her tent. I was like, oh my god, like what happened last night? Like that was so scary.
08:50We
08:50swapped stories and we thought we were safe. We look behind our tent and Jack is sleeping on the ground
08:58behind our tent. He didn't even set up his tent. He's just sleeping on the ground behind our tent.
09:08So we kind of go up to him thinking like maybe it was all some big misunderstanding this whole time.
09:13And we say like, what? Like, what are you doing? Were you looking for your friends? He goes,
09:17huh, huh, huh. Yeah, looking for my friends. Gets his backpack on and keeps walking down the trail.
09:23And then that day we hiked out off the John Muir Trail and we hiked to a convenience store in
09:30Independence, California. And I bought a knife that was bigger than my head to carry on me in my tent
09:37after that moment. And while we never did see Jack again, that story has pretty much won best creepy
09:44story of the wilderness like anytime I tell it to anyone. So it's my go-to spooky campfire story.
09:51The pair were left deeply unsettled, unsure of who he was or what he wanted. And when you're deep in
09:58the wilderness, sharing a remote campsite with someone you don't know, you can never be completely
10:07sure of their intentions. For Christina and her friend, staying there was no longer something
10:14they could feel comfortable with. Christoph is no stranger to the outdoors, regularly spending his
10:23free time biking through remote trails and camping in nature. But during one bike ride through the woods,
10:31his adventure suddenly turned into something completely different. A rescue mission.
10:50Oh, shit, shit, shit. Hold, hold, hold on, hold. Stay down, stay down, stay down, stay down.
10:56I can't move. No, take it easy, take it easy. Hold on, calm down. That's all right, calm down.
11:02What's your name? What's your name, buddy? Bo. Bo, listen, what did you hurt?
11:09Everything. Everything. Can you, can you feel any broken bones somewhere? No, but I can't move.
11:15You can't move? Okay. Okay, cool, cool, cool. Hold on, I'm gonna call help, yeah? I'm gonna put the
11:21bike around, here. Hold on, hold on, hold on, because I don't want anyone to ride you over.
11:27I need to sit down, calm down. You'll be okay, mate. You'll be all right. I'm gonna put the bike
11:32upside down, yeah? And I'm gonna call help, yeah? I haven't had a drink all day.
11:41I don't have any drink with me, sorry, mate. I'm calling help, yeah?
11:45We're at the bottom. We're almost at the bottom, can you take me down? Can you take me down to
11:50the bottom, please?
11:50Do you want to go down? Yes. I can't lift you up. I don't want to lift you up.
11:54Yes. Can you tell them to bring a drink? Yes, I will let them know.
12:02While riding through the trails, Christoph suddenly heard a young boy named Bo,
12:07screaming for help and saying he was in pain. Christoph immediately stopped and approached him,
12:14reassuring him while calling for emergency assistance in the area. Bo was visibly distressed,
12:21crying and clearly in pain as Christoph stayed with him and tried to keep him calm.
12:29Hello, I find a boy crashed on the top of the Zula outpost.
12:37He said he can't move. He's sitting, but he said he can't move. He's yelling and he desperately needs something
12:46to drink.
12:47He's a bit in shock right now.
12:50Okay, no worries at all. Top of the Zula outpost, yeah?
12:52Yeah, top of the Zula outpost, yeah.
12:53If you just stay there, I'll get someone to you now, okay?
12:55All right, cool. Cheers, mate.
12:56Cheers, mate. Bye-bye.
12:58Bye-bye.
12:59Okay, a donkey. They're coming. They come. I told them about the water, mate. They're coming.
13:08Listen, you'll be fine, mate. I've crashed many times. It hurts. It hurts.
13:13Yeah, but you're sitting, mate. Your bag is okay. You want to lay down?
13:18Do you want to lay down? Are you going to help me later? I'm going to hold your head if
13:21you want.
13:22Hold on. I'm holding this. I'm holding your helmet. Just relax.
13:26Lay down. You don't want to... You need to relax, yeah?
13:30I'm not going to... Don't touch your helmet. Just leave it like it is right now, yeah?
13:36They're going to be here in a minute. They know where are we. I told them about the water.
13:40You'll be fine, yeah? Is your name Bo? Yeah, my name is Bo.
13:43Bo.
13:44Eventually, a first responder arrived and took over the situation.
13:50Kristoff had simply been riding through the trails when he came across someone who desperately needed help.
13:58And the encounter serves as a reminder of just how vulnerable you can be
14:03when you're alone, deep in the wilderness, miles from anyone else.
14:09Luckily for Bo, Kristoff happened to be on that trail at exactly the right time.
14:18Solo camping deep in the woods with his dog, Fiona, is something old Southern Pine is no stranger to.
14:27He's known for documenting his outdoor adventures with viewers following along to see what each trip brings.
14:35But during one trip back in 2024, things became so unsettling that he made a decision he rarely would.
14:44He abandoned his camp.
14:47With Fiona by his side, the plan was simple.
14:50Head deep into the woods, set up camp, and spend another night surrounded by nature.
14:58Hey, y'all. Welcome back to the channel of Southern Pine.
15:00Thanks for joining us on another adventure.
15:02Today, we are hammock camping in a Minnesota State Forest.
15:05And for those of you guys who have watched the channel before, you guys know that anytime I can go
15:09hammock camping,
15:10I'm a happy man.
15:11We got a brand new hammock here from One Wind Outdoors and a new tarp from Unigear.
15:15Those both went up nicely.
15:17We've just got the tarp thrown back over here.
15:18I've already got it rigged up, so as soon as we get ready for bed, we can just guy it
15:23out, take it down, call it good.
15:58After getting everything set up, he gathered firewood and prepared some food.
16:03At first, everything seemed completely normal.
16:07But once darkness covered the forest, the atmosphere changed.
16:13Yeah, stay.
16:18I feel like I was so excited for you to make friends to do with my dog.
16:18At first, everything looks like I've been cooking, telling me how you think I had a baby.
16:22I can't believe that we can actually see you as a baby.
16:24He's feeling like that a baby is a baby!
16:25I don't think that a baby is a baby!
16:26I came from one of my parents!
16:26I'm gonna have a baby!
16:26I've got a baby!
16:28Oh, she's a baby?
16:28Oh!
16:44He's a baby!
16:52Suddenly noises began echoing through the woods,
16:56disturbing both him and Fiona.
16:58The sounds were unsettling enough to put him immediately on edge.
17:03Then he realized what he was hearing.
17:07Coyotes.
17:09Knowing the situation had become too risky,
17:12especially with Fiona beside him,
17:14he made the decision to pack up.
17:17All right, y'all, here's the situation.
17:23Fiona got some birds all through her hair around her eyes,
17:30got them into her eyes,
17:33and was actually poking and hurting her in the eye,
17:35so I was able to get the birds out that were actually in her eye,
17:39but I'm not equipped out here to be able to get them out from around her eyes.
17:43So, uh, as we're packing up to get home,
17:48coyotes started sounding off like very, very close to us,
17:52two packs, one on either side of us.
17:54So I am hiking out right now,
17:57just carrying Fiona in my camera bag
18:02so that I can get her safely locked into the truck,
18:04and I'm going to hike it back in here to pack up the rest of the stuff.
18:08All right, y'all, we are,
18:11we have Fiona back in the truck,
18:14and we are hiking back out
18:19to get our stuff
18:21and see the light that I left on back up there for us at camp.
18:25I'm sorry that we couldn't get this all together for you guys
18:27and create a nice overnight trip,
18:29but anybody who's watched this channel for any amount of time
18:35knows that that dog's well-being means more to me than my own.
18:39We're out here just to have a good time,
18:41so definitely not able to keep her comfortable.
18:43And while the birds touching her eyes,
18:46I was at least get those off
18:47so there wasn't going to be any kind of damage to her eyes or anything.
18:50There's still quite a bit of burrs around her face
18:52that I'm just not equipped to be able to take care of out here,
18:55so they're clearly going to be bugging her.
18:58I've got her safely in the truck.
18:59We're going to get packed up now and get out of here.
19:02He grabbed his dog,
19:03got her safely to the car,
19:06and then returned to collect the rest of his equipment.
19:09Luckily, he made it out safely.
19:12But being surrounded by not one, but two packs of coyotes
19:16made staying at the campsite far too dangerous.
19:22Small Plots is a growing channel run by Kevin,
19:26who spends much of his free time camping outdoors
19:29and pushing himself with increasingly challenging stealth camps.
19:34In a recent video, Kevin decided to take things further
19:38by attempting to camp overnight beneath an urban highway.
19:42From the beginning, the location came with obvious risks,
19:47and being surrounded by woodland and an urban area
19:51made the situation even more unsettling.
19:54I think I just saw somebody scoping me out when I was coming in here.
19:59Kind of was like, maybe trying to follow me a little bit.
20:02That was kind of weird.
20:06But I walked through the city, under the bridge,
20:11gracefully down into this small forest.
20:14You're watching Small Plots with Kevin, I'm Kevin.
20:17I'm gonna look around here, see if I'm sharing this forest with anybody,
20:21and, uh, we'll get to campin'.
20:31This place is kinda weird.
20:35Might be tough to tell.
20:37Clearly, usually a swamp right here.
20:39I guess it's dry enough to where it's not a swamp,
20:41but it's filled with old remnants of structures,
20:45concrete, railroad ties, uh, garbage.
20:51Now, I left my pack where I came in
20:54and walked in this direction.
20:56I don't think I'm gonna camp in this direction.
20:58I'm way too close to people's homes,
21:01and there's a trowel right there
21:03that I'm pretty sure they could just see me if they looked.
21:06Something maybe weird, I don't really know.
21:09Right before I walked over here, it sounded like somebody threw something at me.
21:13Like, it was like a dun-dun-dun-dun-dun.
21:14And I looked at it, and it was like one of those green walnut nuts,
21:19walnut nuts, that fall and make that sound.
21:23But, the weird thing about that is there was no other such nuts around.
21:28So, either they're just a popular treat in this forest,
21:31and they're cleaned up quickly, or somebody found that,
21:34maybe that kid that saw me come in and, uh, threw it down here.
21:38Kevin spent some time exploring the area,
21:41searching for somewhere he could safely settle down for the night.
21:45But he soon realized he wasn't completely alone.
21:50Someone appeared to be nearby,
21:52watching him from within the area.
21:55Despite this, Kevin continued searching
21:58until he found a spot that felt like the safest option.
22:02He began setting up camp, but his nerves remained high
22:05after noticing just how many people were around the surrounding woods.
22:10I've been seeing so many people.
22:12It's hard to get them on camera,
22:13because they just, like, walk by,
22:15and I see them for a second through the trees.
22:17But, uh, I do have to keep a super low profile.
22:21No fires tonight.
22:23Got to keep my lights low, my voice low.
22:26Uh, just be low.
22:29Kind of unfortunate, because I didn't bring a chair.
22:31So I'm going to be standing up.
22:32So that's not very low, but...
22:34As darkness swept across the forest,
22:37the atmosphere changed completely.
22:40Kevin tried to settle down for the night,
22:43but the uneasy feeling never disappeared.
22:46Then strange noises began echoing around him.
22:51Like a chain jingling on it.
23:05It sounds like a dog with a chain around his neck.
23:08It was really close.
23:12I've never heard that before.
23:14I have no idea what that could be.
23:16Oh.
23:18Oh.
23:19Oh.
23:20Oh.
23:21Oh.
23:35Dude, what the hell is that?
23:45Dude, I don't know what's happening right now.
23:49Is somebody here with their dog?
23:51Is there a loose dog?
23:54Like what is happening?
23:58Should I shine a light out?
24:04Dude, there's something like jangling and walking.
24:10I still hear something over there.
24:13I don't hear the jangling, but I hear something over there.
24:20With no idea what was making them, Kevin became increasingly uncomfortable and struggled to sleep.
24:27He barely got any rest that night, and the following morning he explained more about what
24:32had happened.
24:33I slept for about three hours.
24:35I slept for about three hours, and I woke up to maybe one of the most unsettling sounds
24:41I've ever heard while sleeping in an urban forest, and that is, it sounded like a, uh, the best
24:48I can describe this like a dog with like a collar getting near my tent.
24:54Dude, what the hell is that?
25:04Um, I don't know if that's what it was.
25:06It could have been a guy with keys in his pocket.
25:08I don't know.
25:10That ha- that went on for pfff ten minutes probably.
25:13It was like right over here.
25:15Like I just heard like just, I don't know, the sound of an animal with like a collar, like
25:19collar.
25:20Like it's just that sound.
25:21I don't know.
25:21It's just sound.
25:22It's pretty distinct.
25:23You know, wild animals don't have metal on them.
25:26So there's that.
25:29No clue.
25:30But it was definitely like really close to the tent.
25:34Like, I want to say like right over here.
25:36Like within ten feet of the tent probably.
25:39Um, I had my knife out.
25:43I'm not going to lie.
25:44I was sitting there like, just like.
25:47Um.
25:48Eventually Kevin packed everything away and left the area, describing the sounds as some
25:53of the most unsettling he'd ever heard.
25:56After that experience, he wasn't willing to risk spending another night in those woods.
26:02The wilderness can be beautiful, but these encounters show just how quickly a peaceful
26:09trip can turn into something completely unexpected.
26:12From wildlife and strangers to situations nobody could have planned for, sometimes the
26:18safest decision is knowing when it's time to leave.
26:22Thanks for watching, and I'll see you in the next one.
26:26Stay safe out there.
