U.S. Senate candidate Michael Whatley has sharply criticized the Biden administration over claims that it facilitated the transportation of undocumented immigrants into the United States by air.

Speaking about immigration and border policy, Whatley alleged that migrants were placed on airplanes and transported into the U.S. interior, reigniting debate over the Biden administration’s immigration policies and the handling of the southern border.

In this video, we break down Michael Whatley’s remarks, his claims about migrant flights, Biden-era immigration policies, the U.S. border crisis and the ongoing political battle over illegal immigration.

The comments come as immigration remains a major issue in U.S. politics, with Republicans and Democrats continuing to clash over border security, deportations, asylum and federal immigration enforcement.

00:00This is an absolutely critical issue facing our country.
00:05What we saw during Joe Biden's tenure, when they flung open the doors,
00:12when they invited in 10, 15 million, 20 million illegal immigrants into our country,
00:19it wasn't just that they looked the other way and let them in.
00:23They facilitated bringing them in.
00:26They changed the rules of engagement for our border patrol.
00:30They created an app to facilitate that movement.
00:35They put them on airplanes and flew them in to the interior of this country.
00:40And when they did that,
00:42they created a clear and present danger to every community across this country.
00:55USA! USA! USA! USA! USA!
01:02All right. Well, listen, I want to welcome everybody here
01:05as we talk about a truly important issue.
01:09You know, you think about the number one priority for any government,
01:15local government, state government, or federal government, has to be
01:21protecting its citizens. And we think about here in North Carolina and our local law enforcement,
01:29making sure that they are taking criminals off the streets.
01:33We talk about nationally, making sure that we have the strongest,
01:39most respected military in the world to protect our interests and our allies around the world.
01:46Today, we're here to talk about our border.
01:50This is an absolutely critical issue facing our country.
01:55What we saw during Joe Biden's tenure, when they flung open the doors,
02:02when they invited in 10, 15 million, 20 million illegal immigrants into our country,
02:11it wasn't just that they looked the other way and let them in.
02:14They facilitated bringing them in.
02:17They changed the rules of engagement for our border patrol.
02:24They created an app to facilitate that movement.
02:28They put them on airplanes and flew them in to the interior of this country.
02:33And when they did that, they created a clear and present danger to every community across this country.
02:45We now have, at last count, 488,000 illegal immigrants living in North Carolina.
02:555% of our population.
03:01These illegal aliens cost North Carolina taxpayers $3.14 billion a year.
03:09And of that, $461 million is spent every year on police and corrections expenses.
03:19And we hear a lot about the National Democrats who say,
03:22well, illegal immigrants are a blessing for this country.
03:26It is great that we have them here.
03:29Just yesterday, Chris Murphy from Connecticut said,
03:32it is no big deal that we have 15, 20 million illegal immigrants here in the United States.
03:39My opponent, Roy Cooper, absolutely agrees.
03:44And you think about Roy Cooper and his record of opposing the Department of Homeland Security,
03:52opposing their funding last year as part of the one big, beautiful bill,
03:59saying that he will not support additional funding until there are significant reforms
04:04that need to be made in order to make him support that.
04:10I mean, of course, he didn't support the supplemental for the defense funding either.
04:16Right? This is a guy who vetoed three different bills to force sheriffs to honor ICE detainers
04:24and get criminal illegal aliens the hell out of North Carolina.
04:30At every step of the way, Roy Cooper is going to fight for those illegal aliens
04:35more than he's going to fight for our communities and for our families.
04:39And perhaps the thing that really bothers me the most about the Democratic push
04:47for illegal immigrants is claims that this is a victimless crime.
04:55It's not. Look at Laken Riley, a 22-year-old nursing student at the University of Georgia
05:04who was out for a run when Jose Aubera of Venezuela attacked her, tried to rape her, killed her.
05:13You look at Sheridan Gorman up in Chicago. She's a freshman at Loyola, out with her friends,
05:21when a man approached completely unprovoked, pulled out a gun and shot her.
05:27Folks like Fletcher Harris and Skyler Provenza over in Rowan County.
05:33Fletcher was a soccer player at Catawba College.
05:37Skyler was his girlfriend. They were out driving when Juan Aguilar, an illegal alien from El Salvador,
05:48drunk driving and killed him.
05:53People like Luke McDowell, a 20-year-old young man, killed when he took a pill laced with fentanyl.
06:08We have hundreds of these stories across North Carolina, thousands of them across the country,
06:16of the impacts
06:19of the crimes committed by illegal aliens, migrant crime and drugs.
06:28This is a very real topic. And I'm very honored to have two great men with me today to talk
06:35about those impacts. Congressman Addison McDowell, who has a very, very personal story to talk about.
06:45And Paul Perez, the President of the Border Patrol.
06:49So I want to kick us off by welcoming my good friend, Addison McDowell, up here to talk about how
06:58personal this issue is for him and for his family. Addison.
07:09Well, thank you. And this is not something that is ever fun to talk about. And I'm not alone in
07:16that. There are millions, millions of Americans that have felt the sting of death caused by open border
07:24policies that the Democrats have put in place in our country for too long. And in 2016, right before
07:33President Trump came into office, my little brother died from fentanyl poisoning that took his life way
07:41too early. And that is something that that led me to run for Congress. You know, my little brother
07:49was probably the funniest person that I've ever met. And so it was, you know, in that sense,
07:55it was a little lighter than it could have been because it's impossible to think about him without laughing.
08:00But it still stings. And it's like going through the rest of your life missing a limb.
08:05You're still here. You still got to go through it. But something's missing.
08:09And that is something that millions of Americans, families have had to go through.
08:15And when I met with the president to tell him that I was interested in running for Congress,
08:20he said, why? And I said, sir, if I can make it so that one mother or father doesn't have
08:28to have
08:29a police officer come to their door and tell them that ma'am or sir, your son or your daughter
08:34is dead,
08:35then this will all be worth it. Just one. Now, obviously, we hope that it's all of them.
08:41And with the help of the folks like the Border Patrol, maybe it could be. But what I know to
08:47be
08:48certain is that the Democrat Party allowed this to happen. They looked the other way as tons,
08:56tons of fentanyl came across our border. They made it easier for people to get on the ground in the
09:02United
09:02States and make sure that they could get this fentanyl to flow into our country. And it killed
09:07millions of Americans.
09:10Yes, ma'am.
09:12Yeah. I mean, we're in a room that I'm sure everyone is probably one degree away
09:17from knowing somebody that has been killed by fentanyl. And if you think about it,
09:23I call fentanyl a weapon of mass destruction because exactly what the cartels want to do,
09:31exactly what the Chinese want to do to our country is make it so that military age men and women
09:38die.
09:39That's what they're doing. And they haven't fired a single bullet.
09:42That's what they're doing. And it's people like Roy Cooper that look the other way and help facilitate
09:49this into our country. We know exactly what Roy Cooper will do if he goes to the Senate. And we
09:57know
09:58what happened when Joe Biden and all of his friends took the door off of our southern border.
10:06And now you've got the Democrat Socialists of America that want to rip the door back off the
10:10hinges. And they're bandits like Roy Cooper. They will do that. And so if you care about safety and
10:18security, if you care about young people not being victimized by fentanyl, if you care about folks
10:26like Lake and Riley not being victim to illegal aliens that Democrats let into our country, they invited
10:33them here. Then you will vote for Michael Watley. Michael Watley cares about security. He cares about
10:40safety. And I need him in the fight. You hear how many illegal aliens are still in the state of
10:46North
10:47Carolina. Multiply that by 50 states. That's a huge number. And we know why the Democrats want them here.
10:55And we have to stop them. And Michael Watley is a member of the United States Senate will help me
11:01in the House of Representatives to stop them. I care about safety. I ran for Congress. When I talked
11:09to the president, I said, sir, I'm running for Congress so that people don't have to lose their
11:13little brother. And the reason that I get up on Monday and leave my two little kids, almost three,
11:21at home is so that they don't have to lose one of their siblings. So that the people that I
11:28represent,
11:29they don't have to lose one of their siblings, one of their children, one of their grandchildren.
11:34And I need help in that fight. Because we know exactly, exactly what the Democrats will do
11:41if they take control. They've told they've showed us before what they will do, and they will do it
11:45again. And so right now, you know, every two years, somebody like me gets up and tells people like you
11:53that this is the most important election of our lifetime. Right now, it really is. Because we have
12:01the cartels, the Chinese, Iran, everyone that wants to do us harm knows under a Democrat administration,
12:07they can send anything they want across our southern border. We cannot have that. That is one of the
12:14many things that they will do. We cannot have that. Having Michael Watley in the U.S. Senate
12:23means safety. It means security. And it means that we can know that while we are here in North Carolina,
12:30we have someone fighting for us that actually cares about our safety and security. And we know
12:35that if Roy Cooper is in the United States Senate, he will be a rubber stamp for the Democrat socialists
12:41that are taking over in Washington. They have co-opted the Democrat Party. And it is a real
12:46problem. And we know they don't believe in borders. They don't want safety. They don't want security.
12:51They want us to be in danger. And that's exactly, exactly what they will do. It's exactly what Roy
12:56Cooper will do. And so I'm grateful to be here. I'm grateful to stand beside my friend, Michael Watley.
13:02I'm grateful to stand with these brave men from the Border Patrol. And I'm grateful to be here with
13:07all of you. Now let's get out and vote for Michael Watley in November. Thank you.
13:16Thank you, Addison. You know, I went to the border three times back in 2024. Twice more than our borders
13:27are Kamala Harris. And what I saw was scary. Because across that river, there were camps.
13:36There were people. There were trucks. There was logistics. You could hear those conversations.
13:42And you knew tomorrow morning every one of those people is behind me and in the country.
13:50And we saw that wave that came in. You know, when President Trump came down
13:58that escalator in 2015 and announced that he was going to run for president.
14:04And he said that he was going to take on the issue of illegal immigration.
14:10The entire political world said,
14:12What are you talking about? There's not an illegal immigration problem.
14:16And there was.
14:19And the president took huge steps
14:24to work with Congress, to work with the Border Patrol, and to make sure that we started making
14:31significant gains in getting this problem solved and started building the wall.
14:39And Joe Biden, the day that he took office, signed executive orders to wipe all of that out
14:47and fling open that border and start bringing in millions and millions and millions of illegal
14:55immigrants. Hundreds of thousands of them with known criminal records were caught at the border
15:03and released in. Thousands of them who had been convicted of murder in their home countries,
15:09caught at the border and still let in.
15:14It unleashed a wave of human trafficking.
15:17The fentanyl numbers were absolutely staggering. But that wasn't just it.
15:28You think about what it meant when he created an app to facilitate illegal aliens coming in.
15:36The fact that he was putting people on planes and flying them into the interior of this country.
15:41It was not an accident.
15:44It was very intentional.
15:46What the Democrats did, what Joe Biden and the Democrats did,
15:50and Roy Cooper was right there alongside with him.
15:55You know, when I went down to the border last year,
16:01and I got a chance to meet Paul Perez and the guys that are standing behind me right now,
16:09you could see the difference.
16:12Because that river was as pristine as the day that God made it.
16:15And there weren't the camps, and there weren't the people, and there weren't the threats.
16:20You know, the National Border Patrol Council stands up to protect our border
16:26and keep our Border Patrol agents safe.
16:29The Border Patrol Council promotes immigration laws and policies that contribute
16:33to the security of the United States and oppose policies that restrict the sworn duties of these agents.
16:41There are 17,000 members of the National Border Patrol Council.
16:46They represent the 21,471 members of the Border Patrol.
16:51They are our first line of defense at the border here in America.
16:58They're dedicated men and women who go to work every single day.
17:03And they put on a badge, and they put on a gun, and they don't know if they're coming back
17:08home.
17:08But they do it to keep us safe.
17:13With Joe Biden's open border policies, championed by Roy Cooper,
17:20and Roy Cooper's sanctuary city policies here in North Carolina,
17:25and his refusal to have law enforcement working with ICE, North Carolina became a border state.
17:34As I just said, we've got 488,000 illegal immigrants who are living here right now.
17:41A nation without borders ceases to be a nation.
17:46And we are very fortunate that President Trump has been working with the Border Patrol,
17:53and we have shut down that border.
17:58Apprehensions at the border are down 94% since he took over.
18:03Yes.
18:04Yes.
18:05Yes.
18:06Yes.
18:06Yes.
18:07Yes.
18:07Yes.
18:08Yes.
18:09And we are now 15 consecutive months without a single illegal alien being apprehended at the border
18:17and released into the United States.
18:21So I, for one, am very thankful to have Paul Perez here today,
18:26and to have the other members of the Border Patrol who are with him today,
18:31and for what they do every single day to keep America safe.
18:36Paul, thank you for being here today.
18:44Thank you, North Carolina, and I am glad to be here with the new senator,
18:51soon-to-be-elected senator from North Carolina, Michael Wadley.
18:54Thank you, North Carolina, and I am glad to be here with the new senator, soon-to-be-elected senator
19:04from North Carolina, Michael Wadley.
19:09And then there is the playbook by Joe Biden and the Democrats who allowed millions of people,
19:24tons of drugs to come into this country.
19:27And it's something that we can never, ever allow to happen again.
19:32And that's important to this country.
19:34It's important to this state.
19:36And that's why we need to have a friend of the president, like Michael Wadley,
19:41who's going to support those policies that President Trump has put in place to make sure that we never allow
19:47that to happen again.
19:55So when Michael Wadley came down to the border, he came down to the border to see exactly what we
20:01see every day.
20:03Right now, it's two different things.
20:06We've got a controlled border, one that we've never had in the history of the United States Border Patrol.
20:13It's never been as safe and secure as it is now.
20:16And another, to hear from the men and women on what we need to keep it.
20:23And the Democrats, they refused to fund ICE and Border Patrol.
20:28Why would you refuse to fund agencies that were tasked with protecting this country,
20:36whose job it was to fulfill Trump's promise of removing every single illegal immigrant in this country?
20:45And the reason is the same as their previous playbook.
20:49They wanted to import as many illegal aliens as they could.
20:53What does that turn into later on?
20:56Amnesty, voters, and it empowers the Democrat Party.
21:00The Democrats care more about power than they do their constituents and the people of this country that they're supposed
21:08to protect.
21:09Which is why we need people like Michael Watley in the U.S. Senate to make sure that you guys,
21:17that all of your families, all of our families, are first and foremost the people that we will protect.
21:31The criminal cartels, transnational cartels, gang members have had a complete open border under the Biden administration.
21:42They pulled us off the line.
21:44They did not allow us to protect this border.
21:47What they did instead was facilitate the entry of millions of illegal immigrants,
21:52many of whom have come to North Carolina, many of whom have committed crimes,
21:56many of whom people like Roy Cooper refuse to allow to be arrested and removed by ICE and Border Patrol
22:04because of the policies that they support that allow these people to come into these communities and blend in.
22:11Well, they're never going to blend in because they're not legal immigrants.
22:15They're illegal immigrants that we need to remove from this country.
22:20Only, only because of the Republican Party, the party of law and order, will we be allowed to actually do
22:25that.
22:26The numbers that we have right now compared to the numbers under the Biden administration
22:32are completely, completely different.
22:35Everything that President Biden did was to make sure the policies that he put in place,
22:42the people that he put in charge of the Department of Homeland Security, open borders advocates,
22:47was to make sure that we, the sworn law enforcement officers, were not able to actually enforce the law.
22:53They put roadblocks designed to make sure that we couldn't enforce the law,
22:58designed to ensure that people that came into this country illegally could be allowed into this country
23:04under false claims for asylum and everything else.
23:10The amount of drugs that the cartels were able to bring in,
23:13they were making money hand over fist because there was nobody there to stop them.
23:19They took us off the line so we could process aliens and let them go.
23:24That's not what the U.S. Border Patrol is supposed to be doing.
23:27What the U.S. Border Patrol is supposed to be doing is what we're doing now under the Trump administration.
23:34And we need people like Michael Watley to continue to support President Trump.
23:40Because if the Democrats take control, if Roy Cooper gets into the Senate,
23:44they're going to do everything they can to stop exactly what President Trump has been doing.
23:52Exactly what people elected the Republicans in the House and Senate and in the White House to do,
23:59which is protect this country.
24:01Protect everybody in it.
24:03So we need the support.
24:05We need everybody to vote.
24:07We need everybody to get their relatives, their neighbors, their friends,
24:12everybody to get out to the polls and support Michael Watley.
24:22Every Republican that stands for law and order as well.
24:26Because we cannot go back to the days of the Joe Biden administration.
24:32That is the playbook that the Democrats want.
24:35It is to make sure that Americans are not the first priority.
24:40We are a very, very generous country.
24:43But we have to maintain that we are a country of laws.
24:48Because without that, we have no country.
24:52What happened under the Biden administration to this country should never,
24:55ever be allowed to happen again.
24:59The congressman spoke of his brother.
25:02That's a personal story.
25:05Somebody like myself who has lost a good friend, a fellow agent, a fellow brother,
25:10to illegal immigrant crime.
25:14I can tell you that it stings.
25:16It hurts.
25:17And I never want anybody in this room to have to go through that.
25:21But the policies that are put into place by Democrats will allow exactly that.
25:27It will allow people in these communities to continue being victims of illegal criminals.
25:34We cannot have that.
25:36We must support law enforcement.
25:39We must support the Border Patrol.
25:40We must support ICE so that we can remove, continue to remove these people out of this country.
25:47This is an election for a six-year term.
25:51Regardless of who wins the presidency, we need to make sure that Michael Watley is there
25:56to support law and order, to support the Border Patrol.
26:01The Democrats refused to fund ICE and Border Patrol.
26:04Think about that.
26:05That is a big deal.
26:07Something that had never happened before.
26:10And thankfully, the Republicans in the House and Senate rallied around President Trump and funded us
26:18through the rest of his term so that the Democrats cannot hold our funding hostage.
26:23What that does is it ensures that we can continue protecting these communities, protecting the
26:30great state of North Carolina, protecting America, and removing these illegal alien criminals.
26:35There are cartel members in North Carolina.
26:38There are cartel members across the entire country.
26:41Because of the open borders policies by Joe Biden's administration, North Carolina
26:47and every other state became a border state.
26:50Everything that flowed across that border impacted every state, including North Carolina.
26:56We have to end that.
26:58We can never allow it to happen again.
27:02Our men and women, I've been on this job 29 years.
27:05I've served under five presidents.
27:08President Trump by far has been the only president that has followed through on every promise he's made.
27:15But he needs the support of brave men and women in the Senate and in the House that are willing
27:22to stand up for what's right.
27:24Willing to stand up to protect you, your communities, your families.
27:28And we're only going to have that if we elect men and women like Michael Watley.
27:41On behalf of the 17,000 men and women that we represent, we are honored to fully endorse and support
27:50Michael Watley for U.S. Senate in North Carolina.
27:59Thank you, Paul.
28:01And thank you for that endorsement.
28:03It is absolutely critical for what we are trying to do here in the United States.
28:10You got it?
28:13Look, there's a lot of reasons that Roy Cooper was the worst governor in the history of North Carolina.
28:20We could talk about him shutting down our state.
28:22We could talk about him shutting down our schools.
28:24We could talk about him shutting down our churches.
28:28We could talk about him allowing boys and girls sports
28:31and vetoing legislation that would prohibit transgender mutilation surgeries.
28:37We could talk about how he made stuff cost more,
28:40with electricity rates going up 30 percent on his watch while he makes millions with a sweetheart
28:46solar deal for his family.
28:48We could talk about housing prices going up 85 percent on his watch due to his executive orders
28:54that added regulatory burdens to the cost of those houses.
28:58We could talk about the fact that he has again and again and again sided with the National Democrats
29:08against common sense legislation that we need.
29:12But the biggest place where I think it really comes home to the people of North Carolina
29:19is the fact that Roy Cooper absolutely failed to keep our kids and our communities safe.
29:27It was Roy Cooper in 2020 when BLM and Antifa were burning down our cities.
29:33Did he call in the National Guard to put down those rights?
29:36No, he took off his COVID mask.
29:39He raised his fist and he went out and he marched with him.
29:43It was Roy Cooper
29:49who pulled together an executive order and a task force to reimagine law enforcement in North Carolina,
29:56to create cashless bail, pre-trial release, bring it here from Chicago and New York and California,
30:02to put criminals back on the streets again and again and again as soon as they are arrested.
30:0820 times, 30 times, 40 times or more violent crimes, doesn't matter, they're right back out on the streets.
30:14And it was Roy Cooper who released 4,200 criminals, 4,200 hardened criminals.
30:23The worst of the worst.
30:27Felons, rapists, murderers out of North Carolina prison because he didn't want them to have COVID.
30:34He didn't want them to get COVID in prison so he put them on the streets.
30:37And what do you think happened as soon as you put 4,200 hardened criminals back on the streets?
30:43He unleashed a crime wave all across this state.
30:472,200 of them have been re-arrested.
30:50600 of them have been re-arrested for felony assault, aggravated assault, assault with a deadly weapon.
30:5899 of them for child pornography charges, for sexual assault and rape.
31:03And 25 of them for murder.
31:06I'll reject.
