00:00Hello and welcome to Tear. Tear is a tank shooter that rewards strategic,
00:05methodical play over twitch reflexes or run-and-gun tactics. There are a few
00:10important mechanics in Tear that you'll need to understand. Let's start with
00:14Armor. Every tank has a unique set of armor that you'll need to find weak
00:19spots in to deal damage. When you aim down sights, you'll see enemy tanks like
00:23this. Green means that your shot will penetrate. Gray means that your shot
00:27will bounce. Blue means you're hitting a module on the tank, like the tracks or
00:32gun. These will disable or immobilize your enemy. Each tank has a different
00:40penetration value when it fires. This tank has an especially low one and will
00:44struggle to penetrate this opponent from the front. Sometimes you'll need to try
00:49a different angle to find weak spots. You can see your own armor layout in game by
00:54holding the alt key. Light tanks have less armor and heavy tanks have more. Your
01:00shots take angle of impact into account and it's easier to penetrate shots
01:04straight on rather than hitting at an angle. You can angle your tank to create
01:09more thickness and armor so that a shot from an enemy will bounce. Some tanks
01:14offer strategies that utilize their armor and allow them to protect themselves
01:17while shooting at enemies. Next we have vision. Vision in tier is information warfare.
01:25Enemies are only revealed when they've been spotted by yourself or an ally. To spot
01:30enemies you need both a straight line of sight and for them to be within your
01:33vision radius which is represented by the dotted circle on the mini-map. The
01:37white circle around your tank represents your spotted radius. This is the distance
01:42your own tank will be spotted. The difference in radius sizes means you can
01:46sometimes spot an enemy without them spotting you back. This can let you snipe
01:50enemies while remaining undetected. There are ways to shrink your spotted
01:54radius to stay more hidden. Light tanks have higher natural camouflage than heavy
01:59tanks which lets them scout while remaining hidden. Heavy tanks have low
02:02camouflage and will most often be spotted first before seeing the enemy.
02:08Bushes limit vision through them allowing you to get significantly closer to
02:11enemies before being spotted. As you can see the spotted radius shrinks
02:16when your tank is inside a bush. Heads up, any parts of your tank that poke out
02:21through the front of the bush can still get you spotted within the normal spotted radius.
02:27Also note that firing will make your circle larger making you easier to spot.
02:33Now be warned these same rules and techniques apply to your enemies too. They might be able to spot you
02:38before you see them and the spotted icon notifies you when you've been spotted.
02:46You can be unspotted again if you break line of sight or get outside the enemy's view radius for seven
02:51seconds.
02:53Next we have gun depression. Unlike typical first-person shooters, tanks are limited in how far they can aim their
02:59gun downward.
03:00The red line shows your maximum depression range. Hover vehicles have great gun depression,
03:06but you must be stopped to utilize it.
03:09Speaking of hover tanks, they behave differently compared to other tanks.
03:12Hover tanks can strafe using Q and E and you can hold space bar to power drift.
03:19Your vehicle will tilt to follow your aim. Hover vehicles also take less fall damage than other tanks.
03:28Every tank has a unique ability related to the way they're played. These abilities have an energy cost and a
03:35cooldown.
03:36Energy is a very limited resource that can primarily be gained by dealing damage or assisting allies by spotting enemies.
03:46The goal of each match is to defeat all enemies or capture their base.
03:51Each team's side of the map has a base capture zone. If either team manages to get 100 capture points
03:56on the enemy base, they win the match.
03:58If you or your allies are damaged while in the capture zone, you will lose capture progress.
04:04If the match timer runs out before all enemies have been defeated, the match is decided by which team has
04:09more capture points.
04:14T.I.R. uses typical WASD shooter controls. Here is our control scheme.
04:20If you're coming from other tank shooters and want to use more familiar legacy controls, you can change this in
04:26the settings.
04:27You can try out tanks in the sandbox mode even before you unlock them to find the one that fits
04:31your playstyle best.
04:33Good luck out there and welcome to T.I.R.
