South Africa: Tense Rescue of Civet Cat Entangled in Barbed Wire

Inspiring visuals from Alldays, South Africa showcase a man going above and beyond to save a wild civet cat. Captured by Emma Peniston, the footage highlights her husband, Anthony Peniston, demonstrating that real-life heroes do exist. Anthony shared, "I was heading to town for a meeting when I spotted this civet cat severely ensnared in a barbed-wire fence." As a wildlife rescue expert, he was unprepared for the situation, yet he took a chance despite the potential danger of the civet biting him. He remarked, "Getting a veterinarian was impossible since the nearest one was over two hours away. I couldn't just cut the wires; that would have left the cat in danger of running off with them still attached, risking its life." Ultimately, Anthony managed to calm the civet and safely free it, allowing it to escape without any wires. This remarkable act of bravery was recorded on May 1, 2020.
